Perk Will Play In Game 6

The Celtics' shootaround just concluded, and center Kendrick Perkins (strained left shoulder) told the media that he's going to give it a go tonight. No word on whether or not he'll start at this point.

Perkins, who injured the shoulder in Game 4 and missed Game 5, says he's still in pain, but that it's getting better each day.

A healthy Perk would be great, but obviously he will not be.  Hopefully he will be able to take up space and get at least one hand up to block shots.

That's excellent news!  Even if he is not 100%, it is possible that Gasol just knowing that Perk will play and he won't have the freedom that he had in game 5 could give the C's a slim psychological advantage.

Excellent news. People who don't understand his value might have figured it out watching Gasol get rebounds simply because he was taller than everybody else, and then proceeded to act like he got to it due to heart and hustle.

Great news.  have him start and be physical with Gasol from the beginning.

Have KG do the tip off though.  No need to have Perkins stretching for that. 



Even if Perkins can't go more then 15 minutes, It should be enough to get Gasol out of his game as the 2nd half roles around.

That's great news!  He doesn't even  have to be excellent.  He just needs to be able to put a body on Gasol to wear out the Laker big man.

During Game 5, Gasol figured out that once he's in the paint, he could score on KG, PJ, and Powe as long as they play him one on one.  I suspect he'll have to work really hard just to get to the paint with Perkins playing him.

Great news!! I know what you mean about Gasol, I hate it when he pounds his chest afterwards, the guy has no heart. I hope Perk puts him in his place tonight. He may not be 100%, but at least he's well rested. GO CELTICS!!

i think this is why he sat in game 5....doc knew at worst he had 2 more games and extra rest for him to play...perk at the least will get rebounds and be physical

I have no idea why they don't shoot him up with a cortisone injection. He won't feel a thing. If it is getting better day by day then it isn't REAL serious. Trust me. I have done this. It felt like brand new.

As far as the tip off. If he is right handed and it is his left shoulder that is hurt, it doesn't really matter. He would be stretching his right shoulder/arm, not the injured one.

It IS great news! 

Given that Perk is not 100%, we will still need our other big men to collectively assume some of the defensive / inside mantle normally carried by Perk.  But this is HUGE!
