It's kind of a long explanation as to why I need to make this choice, so I'll leave that part out and just ask the question.  I need to pick a team for a minidraft pool for my RotoLeague.  The team can not be from the AL East or be Arizona. If you could choose one team that has ONE CLEAR CUT best player and a serious dropoff after that - who would it be?

One other thing to consider.  The following players are not eligible for the minidraft:

Pujols
Utley
Peavy
Rollins
Howard (Pretty much Philly is off the list of choices)
Putz
H. Ramirez
Reyes
Santana
Cabrera
Holliday
Wright (Mets off list probably too)

I have Putz, so I'm thinking of playing it defensively and choosing Seattle so no one else can grab a closer.  I'd take Ichiro & the rest of Seattle is somewhat scrubbish.

It's making my brain hurt and I need to choose a team by tomorrow. Any input would be appreciated.
Yup

Seattle makes some sense.

The Astros fit your criteria to some extent.  Lance Berkman is having one hell of a year.

Based on the info below and your unavailable list --- I'd say Texas or the Cubs

I'm a huge Berkman fan but Houston has too many scraps for everyone else!

BTW, Whassup with Roy Oswalt?  You think he just needs a change of scenery?
