While Cleveland is a better team than Atlanta, they still have a lot of limitations. The Cs difficulties point mainly to the different level of competition and intensity in post-season play.

The problem with this game 7 is the fact the Cavs have the single most unstoppable force in basketball on their side. And the Cs have seeds of doubt in thier minds if not their game. KG and LeBron are the only players to show they can be expected to play above the defemse being seen. Ask yourself which of those 2 players is more likely to put his team on his back for this game?

The other issue in this game is who does Doc go with? Will he try new combinations (Powe?). Will he try and find a hot hand? Or will he go with experience? I think he is most likely to go with experience (Cassell, Ray) first - only time will show how that plays out.

Point is, we had a chance to win in their building and it took the refs to not have us moving on right now.

Enough with the refs.  They didn't cost us the game. They cost us a chance to get back into the game.  There's a difference.

We were still behind, and that had very little to do with the officiating.  We mounted a comeback and had momentum, and then the refs repeatedly screwed us down the stretch, but it was the team's poor play that had them in a hole to start with.

You don't think the refs have an effect of the way the C's play?

It's not just a physical implication of a call or not....it's psychological and emotional as well.

It's no shock the C's are terrible on the road where they don't get close to fair calls.

76 points in game one.  That was a home game.
89 points in game two.  That was a home game.
96 points in game five.  That was a home game.

It's not all about the road, clearly.  Was it all the officials' fault that Atlanta took this squad to 7 games, too?  Boston is a flawed team with a terrible coach.  Nobody should be surprised that this is getting exposed in the playoffs:

Perkins, the slowest big man, is doubling James up top (Coaching issue)
The weakness at backup point is being exposed (GM issue)
Rondo's weak jumper is being exposed and exploited (player/coach issue)
Garnett's disdain for the low post is hurting the team (player issue)
Ray Allen isn't good enough to beat a double team (player/coach issue)
Pierce is being asked to do to much and is failing (player/coach issue)
Davis got 17 minutes last night (coaching issue)

We just have to hope that home cooking can help overcome some of these weaknesses so the team can advance.

edit: I forgot to mention the absence of a real low post game.  That would be a (player/coach/GM issue)

When people are free to do as they please, they usually imitate each other.

If it hasn't happened before, then it increases our chances of it happening now...

Point is, we had a chance to win in their building and it took the refs to not have us moving on right now. I am channeling all my negativity of last night to positive for game 7. When we win and move on everyone on here will shift to the other end of the spectrum.

One thing that I think is right however. Bibby may have been reading this board when he ripped us as fair weather fans... The extreme shifts is unbelievable!!

Fair weather fans do not care enough to get so upset.

It's the extremes that is the issue. When we win everyone is thrilled and life is amazing. When we lose people are putting posts on here that the whole team is horrible and the coach should be fired and on and on. It sounds like everyone on here is bi-polar!

No. The Refs cost us the game. What are you expecting from the Celtics? Do you want them to read the referees' minds? The first half was a travesty, so the Celtics backed off.  And did they claw their way back? Sure. But only at the behest of the referees who gave them a handful of calls in the third quarter.

The game was a farce. You can blame the players, you can blame Doc - but you're just heaping injustice on top of injustice.  Go back and look at the last play and tell me there wasn't something fishy there.  Watch BBD under the offensive glass, and tell me he wasn't hacked.

No team is perfect.

Game 1 was the game the Cavs should have stole but didn't. C's just blew out the Hawks in Game 7 and exerted a ton of energy doing so. The Cavs were resting.

We can't expect the C's to score and blow opponents out by 10-15 points at home every playoff game should we?

It's obvious the C's haven't played well on the road but the officiant has been a big reason why.

The Hawks series should never have gone 7 games....without the officials help the C's win that series in 5 games at the most!
