Ray Allen has been soild in this series except game 1 of course:

  • Game 1: 0 Points
  • Game 2: 16 Points
  • Game 3: 10 Points
  • Game 4: 15 Points
  • Game 5: 11 Points

I sense he is going to have a BIG night tonight... look for 25+ from Ray.

Would love to see it but the last time Ray scored over 25...(drum roll please)...Feb 20th (almost 3 months ago!) against Golden State (furiously uptempo offensively and notoriously poor defensively).

Game 6 would be the perfect time but don't bet the farm on it.

Maybe Doc can light a fire under Ray's butt by reminding him how Lebron stole the All Star Game MVP from him.  (not that he really did steal it, but we'll leave that debate out of it).  Cavs will be playing slightly better D than Ray saw in the All Star Game, but it was a  fantastic barrage of offense by him.
Yup

Whether he goes off or not, I don't think it matters.

They key is still attacking the basket with Rondo and Pierce; feeding the ball low to KG.

Seemed like he was driving to the basket more in Game 5, which is a definite improvement.

I'd just like to see him make some of those bunnies, it felt like he missed 2 or 3 lay-ups once he got to the tin.

I agree with WD the game really depends on RR and Pierce driving the ball and getting KG the ball in the post and not 18 feet from the basket.  Though a good game from Ray shooting wise would really open up the lanes/post game.

On a side note, Ray just seems slippery when driving to the basket.  It seems like evrything the defender can easily cut off his path when driving baseline, yet Ray seems to get by with regularity.

Exactly... If he starts getting hot if will free up others.

I agree that the Cs must continue to attack the basket, but I also think it does matter whether or not Ray plays well.  I think him struggling is the reason that even the wins at home against the Cavs have been close.  If Ray can "go off" that would make it much easier for the Celtics to pull out a win tonight.
"If somebody would have told you when he was playing with the Knicks that Nate Robinson was going to change a big time game and he was going to do it mostly because of his defense, somebody would have got slapped."  Mark Jackson

If anyone, and I mean anyone is due for a break-out preformance, it's Ray Allen.

Having said that I have absolutely no confidence that will happen

Honestly, I have a heard time believing this guy was an all-star in the western conference last year

I love Ray, but he has had a terrible year

I'd love to see some pick and pop or pick and roll plays with Ray at the top key..

Cleveland has been taking away his good looks running baseline..So get him so better looks by making an adjustment. Doc

He is still $$$$$ from 10 to 15 feet
See, this is why I'm not allowed to announce NBA games -- I'd be talking in the Cookie Monster voice right now:

Ahhhhhhhhhh ... my knee hurts ... ahhhhhhhhhhhhh ... me don't like when my knee hurts ...

If Ray goes off, great.

But do not game plan to try and get him off.  Do what worked game 5.

I'm starting to seriously question the basketball i.q. of not just some bloggers recently, but the entire media.  This is not NBA Live.  Points do not a player make.

Well, so far you were half right.  Ray is off tonight.  Hopefully he will have a good game seven.
