I don't understand why Doc did not call a timeout with 7 seconds left so he could at least have advanced the ball and be able to bring in shooters
like Eddie House into the game?

They were out of timeouts.  That's some serious mismanagement.

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale

Which is a Doc Rivers special, unfortunately.

You have lost all rights to criticize a coach for not knowing there were no more timeouts.

This is getting silly. Some people whine that he should call a timeout every time the other team scores 2 in a row.

doc has been caught with no timeouts left maybe 15 times in the past two seasons. this year it never really hurt them, but cost them a bunch of games last year.

the nba gives every team roughly 163 timeouts per game, and doc manages to be caught timeout-less all the time. amazing.

Because he is our best PG.  ::)  If he wasn't in there you would probably blame that on Doc too.

I don't have a complete memory of the game, but I can't remember him taking what I'd calll an inappropriate timeout anywhere.  Were there any that he could have avoided so that he was left with one?  He had to take one the possession before to move the ball up, and it resulted in an instant hoop for KG.
Yup

As has already been mentioned, they had no timeouts left.

Someone questioned why Rondo was in the game with 7 seconds left.
Answer: because he is the team's point guard!

Now, if he had attempted a rapid drive to the hole, one of the defenders may have bit and collapsed on him thereby leaving someone open on the wing for a kick out and better last three-point attempt than we got. It was a poorly executed last play under heavy pressure.
