Oooops.

Forgot.

Just about any movie Elvis did. My favorites:

Jailhouse Rock
Viva Las Vegas

How could any of us forget the King?!?!

Didn't forget the King (I am a proud visitor to Graceleand - Spring of 88), I wasn't really including him as his movies were vehicles for soundtracks.

One Movie soundtrack banned from this list (not even sure that there was one) Celtic Pride.   ;D

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
Snatch, The Big Lebowski, Dazed and Confused come to mind.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

Joe Jackson did a great soundtrack for Mike's Murder

Pat Metheny & David Bowie on Falcon & The Snowman

Eric Clapton on "Rush" - "Tears in Heaven" and a great song with Buddy Guy...plus a bunch of nice score stuff

Yup

I like this topic. I have a few:
Pulp Fiction
Reservoir Dogs
Dazed and Confused
Trainspotting
Dead Presidents (if you haven't heard these 2 albums, check 'em out. Lotsof good old school funk)
Crooklyn
Boyz in the Hood
Colors

Honorable mention to Forest Gump for havinga bunch of classics on one album, just not a huge fan of all of it.
As far as playing, I didn't care who guarded me - red, yellow, black. I just didn't want a white guy guarding me, because it's disrespect to my game.

  • The good ole days.
I'm cool with listing Star Wars, but not when credited to John Williams.

This my not have been true earlier in his career, but he has probably done VERY little of the work on "his" scores in the last 20 years.  Basically, he comes up with a few main melodies for the music, then hands it off to a team of professional arrangers to do the other 95%.  (One of my good friends studied composition and arrangement with the hopes of being one of these film score professional arrangers.)

"It ain't about me.  It's about us."  - KG, interview with John Thompson, 2005 All Star Game.

Forrest Gump

Garden State was good for a recent film.  The music kinda carried that film in a lot of ways.

Personally, I'll take "Singles."  Pretty much defined the early '90s, which, being a gentleman currently in his early 30s, happened to be the prototypical "defining era" for my life.  But really, phenomenal album in its own right before the grunge movement got too watered down.  Old-school Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Chris Cornell, Mudhoney, Screaming Trees, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins...  all before those guys got their moments of fame.  Pretty definitive collection, with the notable lack of Nirvana.

But, I'm an old man now, that's MY classic rock.

I hear ya on Singles. This ones in my IPod and almost all the songs on that album are great. I would put those two Pearl Jam songs might be in their top 5. Love that vintage Soundgarden song, back when they were heavy.
