  • The good ole days.
Don't know if they are perfect, but here's some favorites.

Redemption Song- Bob Marley

Take Five- Dave Brubeck

At Last- Etta James

Phil Ochs

Blowing in the Wind- Dylan

Have to agree with these too.

Feel free to list greatest Albums here, AllabouttheGREEN.

Redz, I think I tunes should make a half star type system instead of just always full. 1-5 is just too hard for me, 1-10 rating system would be so much better, IMO. Because there are songs that are almost perfect and songs that can't be beat only matched.

Edit: I don't mean perfect in the sense everyone will instantly like it. I mean in the sense that whatever idea, feeling, story it tries to get across it does it better than any other song.
Yeh, I know it.  I've been trying not to get too carried away with it.  I've probably rated a thousand songs over the course of the last few months (and because of what you said only rated a few as "5's" while there are some great ones as "4's").

I really do wish I had more time to organize it all.  As much as ITunes and what not have hurt my biz, I love it as a music listener (though an audiophile would scoff at the sound quality).  Thankfully the market on vinyl is on the upswing and has become my focus here.

some others...

Morphine - "Cure for Pain" up there on my list
Yup

Agree with aQua on all these.  Also, as a sax player, it's my duty to add 'Your Latest Trick' - Dire Straits.  Also gotta say 'Baba O'Riley' - The Who.

I use Pandora everyday at work.  Pretty much exclusively on Chris Potter, Lupe Fiasco, and Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band channels.

One of my friends told me about it a few years back and I've loved it ever since.

Pearl Jam - Do the Evolution and Black

"Black" can still give me goosebumps.  That song definitely changed my listening habits and broke me out of my classic rock rut.  Right around the same time Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magic, Lenny Kravitz' - Let Love Rule and a couple of early Black Crowes albums got me listening to some good new rock too (Black Crowes new album is pretty good by the way, if you like them).

A few other songs that have, at various points in my life, really struck a chord with me and got me a wee bit emotional:

Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd (especially when viewed with the scene from The Wall Movie

I May Know The Word - Natalie Merchant

Time and Time Again - Counting Crows

Say Hello, Wave Goodbye - David Gray

classic rockers:

Can't You Hear Me Knockin - Rolling Stones

While My Guitar Gently Weeps - Beatles

...endless list

You're Gonna Need Somebody...- Donovan

Slow Down - Keb Mo

ok, stopping now ;)
