Title: Is 2018-19 the Warriors last year in their reign of terror?
Post by: perks-a-beast on July 22, 2018, 05:20:06 PM
maybe someone with more knowledge of the salary cap rules than me (most of you) can answer this for me - won't resigning both KD and Klay to max deals be extremely hard, if not impossible, for Golden State? I'll bet you that a team like the Pacers, with all the cap space in the world, throw a super max deal at Klay and it's just too much for him to turn down. And without Klay, no way Durant comes back. God forbid he only has two other superstars to play with. I'll bet you Cousins plays his way out of the Warriors pay range as well.

Nothing would please me more than Curry and Draymond deserted alone in Golden State, which frees up the Celtics to win multiple titles...as much as I would love to beat these clowns at full strength.

Actually giving them both max deals is easy
They will have both of their Bird Right now that KD has been there three years and all they have to do is make the offer. Whether KD wants to continue to be in SF, and whether they want to continue to pay historic tax is another thing. But they are moving onto a new arena in SF so it wouldnt suprise me if they just keep it rolling in 19-20. We shall see.

Durant will take another paycut because he makes a ton off the court. The question is will klay take a pay cut... he used to indicate he wouldn’t and recently he just says all the right things. It’s hard to tell. I don’t think he should because he doesn’t make much off the court like Durant does

The fastest way to break up the Warriors is by beating them.

Who knows in this day and age whether Thompson and KD will want to extend a dynasty rather than join Lebron or take a job that may create  a contender in the East. One thing for sure, LAL as always will be among the teams under consideration.   I actually hope they stay in GS. Beat LA every year, and then hopefully play a steadily improving C’s team in the Finals.

'19 will be the last year of their reign in the sense that the Celtics are going to beat them in the Finals.

Klay cannot get supermax from another team, just the Warriors; however, I don't know if he is going to demand that. The current core players of the Warriors just may decide they want to stay together for the next 5 years and create one of the best dynasties of all-time (obviously will never catch Russell's Cs teams).

Hopefully Klay moves on to another team which pushes Durant to try something different. Cousins can't make more than like $6M so he will be on his way, regardless. The Cs are at a disadvantage this coming season, but if they play their cards right, they should be able to seriously contend for years to come.

Chances are the Klay won't qualify for the Supermax.  He didn't this season.  He's going to have to make an All-NBA team and he hasn't done that the past two seasons.

Klay is going to the Lakers, no doubt in my mind. His dad played and works there, and he’s a perfect Bron sidekick
