LeBron James is reportedly zeroed in on signing either with the Cleveland Cavaliers or Los Angeles Lakers in free agency.
The Houston Rockets and Philadelphia 76ers were initially on James' list, but the comfort of his family in Northeast Ohio or Los Angeles appears to be a factor.
"I don't think Houston is in the running," said Brain Windhorst. "I don't think his family feels comfortable going to Houston. I think where his family is going to be qualifies the teams. You have to get by his wife, Savannah. And his sons to say "yes."

Where does it say that?

It's the Lakers, then.

Only if the Lakers acquire another star. I doubt he'd go to the Lakers by himself.

There's no chance he's going back to the Cavs. But he will have his people leak that they're in the running so as to not show up his hometown team.

Yep
-
I don't think there's ever been a question nor any doubt in LBJ's mind. He's going to LAL.
-
We all knew it was the Lakers as soon as the Finals concluded, or long before that. It's just a matter of "when", and also when the dominoes will fall.
Kawhi Leonard, and then the agreement with Paul George and LeBron James. Who knows, LA might even trade for Damian Lillard and form their Big 3 there.
-
But the moment LeBron goes to the Lakers, the Lakers become a playoff-bound team. Add Paul George and another star and they suddenly become a title contender.
Sucks because Boston worked hard building their team while the Lakers just suddenly attracted 2-3 superstars in one summer. :(

Yeah, totally likely LeBron's kids have a real say in one of the biggest decisions of his life. As if they would even bother expressing one.. Everywhere is Disneyland for them. "Daddy, why can't we go live in a city with a vibrant art scene like Manhattan?"
"Yo, Mav, ice the Houston deal, Bronny isn't happy with Texas cuisine and their repressive legal system"
Give me a break, Windhorst is just cringey embarrassing.

Yeah, I agree. They should really go out and sign Dwight Howard.
Wait...;D.

I want him to stay in Cleveland. I want to kick his ass next year.
Is anybody with me?

I want us to stop talking about him.

Who cares, he is only going to LA if they can stack up a team for him aka PG going there.
-
When you've lived in Cleveland, who wants to be in Philadelphia?
-

I think that's right. Lebron wants to use Cleveland as an out just in case his super team falls through.

I think it's Cleveland barring the Lakers doing some great moves. I just think Cleveland has a good chance to make a move and bring in someone that will give him a better chance to win than the Lakers will have. It doesn't sound like the Spurs have any interest in moving KL to the Lakers so a team of: Ball, Ingram, PG, Lebron and ____ puts them in the mix but not any better than Houston and GSW, maybe worse.
-
I think he値l pick the Cavs .... this year
-
There's actually a growing belief that George could decide to stay in OKC (either with a 1+1 kind of contract, or a 4-5 year max). I still think he goes to the Lakers, but ultimately Leonard is the wild card.
But if PG13 does elect to stay, then I think Lebron stays put in CLE and maybe forces the Cavaliers to make a trade (like Sexton + something for Kemba, or something similar).
A possibility is, Lebron opts-in and plays another year at Cleveland, and the Spurs hold on to Kawhi or he gets traded to somewhere not named the Lakers, and then in summer of 2019, Leonard and Lebron both team up in LAL (Deng's contract comes off the books I believe). Or if they work a S&T of sorts for 1 of the stars, maybe Klay Thompson follows in FA as well? (I doubt it, but it's a possibility)
I think LAL would actually like that better than likely having to surrender Kuzma, Ingram AND another future asset to get Kawhi now.
-
By all accounts I have read and the futures markets Lebron to Philly is dead

Horford to celtics via free agency in 2016.
Hayward to celtics via free agency in 2017.

amen. and a holy tp as a blessing.
-
So if Lebron opts-in on Friday, should we assume he's staying in CLE and likely NOT going to Lakers or Sixers? Possibly in a S&T to Houston?
If he opts-out then it's likely Lakers, Sixers or re-upping with Cleveland again on a 1+1 (or 2+ year deal).
-
I think he opts out
What exactly can Cleveland do to improve that roster? Nothing. Biggest asset is love and they need him.

I do too, but if I'm Cleveland I'm talking to San Antonio about how Kevin Love would be a star again in their system. We'll also send you PG of the future and take Aldridge's big contract.
Love, Sexton, Clarkson, 1st rounder
Leonard, Aldridge
LeBron to Kawhi: we can choose our team together again next summer.
-
It would be pretty funny if any part of Lebron's "decision" ;) ::) ;D hinges on Dwight Howard ;D. Well, until he signs with the Cavs and the Celtics are simply never able grab a single rebound ever again. Ugh.

Yep. Cavs picks are also probably pretty valuable. LeBron is aging and they are dysfunctional and could implode Nets-style at any moment. I'd would love to have their 2020, 2022, and 2024 picks if I'm the Spurs.
And Leonard + Aldridge for Love, Sexton, Clarkson, and Nance works money-wise.
Spurs get to push the "reset" button, Cavs get a nice talent upgrade.

I would want their 2021 and 2023 picks as in 2021 the one and done is rumored to be done so that will make the 2021 draft filled with all kinds of talent (those that had to go to a year of college and the elite high schoolers).

Woj is saying a deal for Kawhi would seal LeBron to LA. I'm assuming his sources are reliable enough that that's LeBron's camp talking through him.
I gotta say I'm kinda surprised LeBron wanted to go to one of the few franchises bigger than him but if that's where it opens up...it's just obnoxious watching the Lakers maybe failing way upward here. Maybe it'll implode like the Kobe/Dwight team.

Yup.
LBJ is saying go get a star for me to play with and I'm in.

He wants to play with another top tier talent, and it doesn't sound like Cleveland has any way to get that for him.
Kemba Walker isn't closing the deal unless all the other options fall through first.

Lebron's big ego would love to be the "one" that got them back to the promised land. I brought the great Lakers back to their glory. That is right up his ally for sure. Plus, he is situated there already and that does not hurt and his family must be saying they want to be there as well.
