Title: Billy Preston
Post by: CFAN38 on June 08, 2018, 10:40:20 AM
I find it interesting that the Cs are working out former ESPN #18 highschool recruit of 2017 Billy Preston today.

Preston was another player who had NCAA issues and only played in a couple of preseason games vs D-2 schools before leaving to play 3 games in the adriatic league. He reportedly left Adriatic after suffering a shoulder injury.

He measured really well at the combine proving to have the size to play 5 in the modern NBA

6'8.75" w/0 shoes 7'2 wingspan 9' standing reach at 222lbs and 5.45% BF

From watching the highlights and reading reports his game is obviously that of a face up swing man. He looks really smooth handling the ball and could really benefit from NBA spacing. In all of the games from this past season (vs D-2 and Adriatic league) he clearly stands out vs his competition.

He reminds me a lot of Perry Jones III. Jones was another player who should have thrived in the modern NBA but despite showing glimpses of promise has never made it in the NBA.

Despite being old for his class (already 21) he might be a player worth taking a chance on. If the Cs like his workout and think they can develop him I could see DA surprising a lot of draft experts and taking him at #27.

I didn't know very much about Billy Preston the basketball player. This article explains his situation.

He looks like an Angie guy. He could be undervalued in this draft and Danny likes to scoop up guys who are undervalued because of situation. He looks raw but he'll have time to grow with how deep this team is. He could be another guy who would be fun to watch in summer league.

Yes -- and disappointed that it isn't a thread for the great Billy Preston: child prodigy, "5th Beatle" for keeping them together through "Let it Be",  and "Abbey Road" -- and a great career on his own -- died way too young.   Love Preston singing of "My Sweet Lord" at the George Harrison tribute -- amazing.

I have seen Billy Preston play a few times. He can be very maddening to watch as he wants to handle the ball more than what he skill set allows for. I think he settles for jumpers instead of figuring out what the defense is giving him. I have never loved him as a player but Im fairly interested in him on this team as I see him similar to what you would need offensively from Morris.

Anyone else seen him play more than  2 or 3 times?
