Title: Al is being shut down
Post by: j804 on May 22, 2018, 12:17:00 PM
How do we get him going? If he doesn't get rolling this will be over in 6.

Start Baynes and try to force Love to guard him.

That's not going to force Love to guard him though. Its probably harder to force a switch with Baynes too as the Cavs are fine giving him windows.

I want to get the ball in Tatum's hands more, or maybe get Smart in there sooner for some PnR.

I run the first 3 sets of offense through Big Al. Run some offense with no shots before 10 seconds on shot clock.

I don't know why on the road it looks like we're in a rush to score, like we're going to get a 5 point basket or something. I just keep yelling at the TV...calm down, slow down and move the ball.

Al needs a few post ups and a few 3s to get us going early.

You don't.  This is Al's game.  He has never been a go to scorer and trying to start now will only cause Boston to lose game 5.

I think you have Al become a point forward, have him bring the ball up and make him create for others or do switches that gets Hill on Horford from mid range in.

He has to at least be effective however. Baynes and Smart are already pretty shaky offensively. Rozier is streaky. Brown has been awful in Cleveland.

We don't have big scoring options atm. He needs to get at least 17-18 a game for us to have a shot..

It's not that hard. Get Horford involved early and find him open looks early.

Problem is, in the last few games that hasn't happened and so Horford hasn't been able to find a rhythm. That open look 3 he missed last night in the 4th quarter is one that's usually $$$ for Al, but he just seemed a bit out of sync since he wasn't getting many shots on offense anyways until the 2nd half.

Start Smart instead of Morris. Put Smart on Lebron. Will put Love in a defensive mismatch.

Continue to feed Al, and try to get Thompson in early foul trouble.

He had 10 and 13 shots in games 1 and 2.  Forcing him to take shots, will only hurt him and the team.  Al Horford is not and has never been a go to scorer.  It just isn't him.
