Title: Amazing Statistic from Game 2
Post by: slightly biased bias fan on May 17, 2018, 01:45:54 AM
If there was an adjective to describe this Celtics team it would have to be 'Swarm'. Even though LeBron had a 40 point triple double he had to work for his points as he had one open look all game (coming in the first 90 seconds)...Cleveland as a team had 11 open shots all game & only 3 of those 11 were in the second half.

Just heard that.  Of course, you need to give the whole story to be able to understand the data.  If I am not mistaken, the Celts had about double the open looks.

Yeah, ESPN was running this across their ticker last night.

In the meanwhile the NBATV analysts/LeBron ball washers were telling us that the game was decided by Lebron's "injury."

Love the C's defense tho, regardless of the respect we get. Teams will have to learn the hard way what we're all about.

The after game reports with the CAVs are usually a hype session and if they lose the LeBron apologists were out in force.

If we win game three they are done, IMHO, they will mail it in game four or five just like Philly.

I think it's amazing that James had 42-10-12 and an eFG% of .638, Love had 22 and 15 with an eFG% of .556, Rozier shot under 44%, Tatum shot under 42%, Horford shot under 39%, and Morris shot under 36% and all of that adds up to the Celtics winning by 13 points.

This team just gets the job done.

Everyone saying the Cavs tie this up because Boston struggles on the road..well they lost 2 games in Milwaukee without Smart.

Game 4 was a 2 point loss with some terrible calls going against Boston

They split in Philly...

I just think that the assumption that just because the Cavs are at home means they win both is a lazy narrative. I think Boston gets one of them.

Its not just the losses, there is a truth to the fact that we've been playing worse on the road.  Its that simple.  For whatever reason.  We are young.  Its one of the biggest places that missing Kyrie and Gordon Hayward really stings us.

Agree on the youth. I just disagree with many that Boston can't get one game in Cleveland. This is probably the easiest of the 3 places the Cs have played this playoff and Cleveland has dropped some games at home. Heck they need a last second shot twice to win games at home this playoff.

They have been far from dominant at home.

Of their 6 home playoff games...1 loss, 4 wins by 4 or less points and 1 comfortable win for them.

Philly didn’t mail it in. They won game 4 and almost won game 5. But I agree, if Cleveland loses game 3, they will quit in game 4.

Yeah, I don't see a lot of fight in this team. If they're able to win these 2 home games, I wouldn't be surprised if they kept rolling and won the series in 7 or even 6. But if Boston takes one of the next 2, it's over in 5 and the Celtics are going to the Finals.

I believe they said the Celtics had 42 open looks (and made 21) to the Cavs' 11. That Cavs defense is really not good.

I would be shocked if we had 42 open looks.  That's nearly half of our total shots.
