Title: 37-0 in deep jeopardy. And Supernova Lebron is after to break that record!!!
Post by: bopna on April 27, 2018, 06:37:28 AM
Welp!!!

I don't really want to feel doom and gloom here with game 7 on our home floor and all but that record which has stood the test of time I believe is in serious jeopardy right now.

Yes we were up 2-0 initially but it seems like a distant memory now...why well the Bucks have totally dominated us in the last 4 games since Jabari and Maker were given more playing time and responsibilities...they are a totally different team right now as they are longer and more dedicated to defense with their switching.

Heck we only won game 5 because Smart was the unknown factor to them and plus the crowd gave the team a much needed boost...yes I hope the crowd will be there again to boost the morale of this team but there is only so much we as fans can do...the rest is really up to the players and I believe the team specifically Morris, Rozier and Smart are stinking it up offensively trying to play hero ball and its just not working.

I like the element when Tatum was driving and trying to be the decoy as he can be so creative inside drawing the defense and it worked for a bit but then they went away with it again when Morris and Rozier started jacking up shots....

Right now they still have a prayers chance of winning this series but Brad must instill to these guys that they need to go to their strengths:

Al Horford shot only 8 times...this is very puzzling on the part of Brad.
I liked what I saw when JB posted his man up..drove to the middle and rose up an unblockable shot...problem is though, he did it only once and we never saw Brad go to JB in the post again and camped him on the 3pt area on both sides.

Will this team fight through adversity and prevent themselves from being the first Celtic team to drop a series after leading 2-0?   I sure hope so.

Nah, I think we're going to win. How many Bucks have been in a 7th game??? Anyone, anyone? Ok the guys that really don't play that much...Delly and Jet. I think Smart, Brown, Rozier and Horford can get everyone settled since they went through it last year. 7th games are just different.

I think Rozier and Brown are going to have great games.

In all games the benches of the guest team did not show up .
Expecting it to happen in game 7.

Exactly. To win game 7s on the road you have to have killers. Anyone think Bledsoe is? Or Middleton? And Giannis certainly is not capable of carrying his team in game like this. Of this was in Milwaukee then I give them the advantages. But game 7s in Boston on a Saturday night? Tough sledding

A Saturday night game in Boston.  That crowd will be pretty lubed up & energized.  Should be a heckuva atmosphere and we know these guys can thrive off that.

Giannis is my big concern but I think the Celtics have an excellent chance to bounce back and take this series.  They should be ready.

I think the Celts will win by 8+ on Saturday.

The Bucks are talented enough that they've been able to home court in this series.  Chalk that up to the Celts being very young.

At home the Celts will get some big plays from their supporting guys, Jaylen and Jayson will be energized, Horford and Smart will make winning plays, and they'll bring it home.

I could be wrong, obviously.  Horford might not have enough left in the tank.  The role players might go cold.  Giannis might finally have a genuinely transcendent game, after putting up numbers but mostly just getting his in this series.

But I feel good about the Celts on Saturday.

How do you know they are not killers?

I know Middleton has been killing us the whole series and so does Giannis.. How else will we know if they will disappear in game 7 when its also the first game seven for most of our guys save for Horford.
Just saying that defensively we are doing ok I suppose but our offense is also stinking up as we still go through 5 or 7 minutes without a field goal.

Two keys for Game 7:
1) Protect the ball. Lots of silly dribbling turnovers during the hero ball sessions. I'm sure Brad Stevens is going to reiterate to play team ball and find the open shooters and some low post opportunities to slow the game down and allow us to get into half court sets. Each strip = 2 points the other way because Giannis is already running the moment it happens. Part of the solution is just playing at home. The Bucks go on those large runs due to fast breaks after turnovers. Then the young players get rattled and try to force plays and give up even more turnovers. At home, they'll be a bit more relaxed.

2) Need to rotate better on defense. Brown looked terrible on the rotations in Game 6. He gave up on several key plays which led to wide open 3 pointers. I liked the idea of putting Smart on Giannis in the low post similar to how we played Millsap years ago. I wouldn't even double team him after entry. Make him have to push Smart to the ground or make him make that turnaround jumper. I know that he's been knocking them down, but it's not going to continue forever. I'd much rather see an entire game of 20 foot turnaround jumpers by a below average shooter than watch an entire game of wide open 3s by Khris Middleton because the rotations are just not there in time.

I agree to a point.  I think that Giannis and Middleton will CONTINUE to show up as they have BOTH been remarkably consistent and very good in this series.  That being said, I think that the odds are in our favor regarding our "scorers" that did NOT show up in Game Six (Morris, Smart, Brown, and Rozier) showing up in Game 6.  AND I can just about GUARANTEE you that Horford gets MORE than 8 freaking shots.  Those five things would have to stay the same for us to lose at home.  It could happen and 35-0 would end, but I like our odds.

I would add this:  Pump fake and MAKE them foul us in the paint (and even on the three point line for that matter).  I think that their bigs are so HUNGRY to block our shots that they are very susceptible to biting on good pump fakes.  But, once we get them to bite, we have to make sure that there is contact and go into them when they are in the air.  Absolutely NO fade aways!!!

So far Ive seen Tatum Pump fake but no one else seems to be doing it.
MAKER is a human shot blocking machine but he jumps on every opportunity.. Get him in foul trou le early to negate their length.

This thread was created DURING the MIL series, so now it's 36-0  ;D

I don't know if we should be concerned but its certainly alarming that they have withstood our relentless attack at the basket by simply playing Lebron one on one on switches against Rozier.

Maybe Lebron said he has zero concern after going down 0-2 its because he did it on purpose... He knows and wants to be the first player to lead his team to win a series after being down 0-2..he did it after all overhaul a 3-1 deficit before and against the freakin Warriors no less.

Cannot underestimate how much those 3 days off saved the Cavs. They were DOA and physically done. Now they have new energy and life.

we are not the 2012 miami heat who strolled into boston down 3-2 and put a dagger into our hearts in a close out game then went home and finished us. if we do not win game 5 we are done like dinner. win game 5 and we have one last chance at home in game 7. sadly this series feels like we are down now because we know how lebron can take momentum and roll teams.

just get me to the finals. it would be a great precursor of things to come and great experience for the kids even if we lose 4-0 which i would expect.  to be eastern conference champs with this beat up young team would be huge.

it honestly feels like a decent amount of posters will just be flat out relieved if/when the celtics lose so they can release a "i told you so" or something to the effect. It is weird.

Don't think so really. They have far exceeded expectations. Just think when you get up 2-0 on the team and the guy that has been a thorn in your side so many years...you start to believe a little more it might happen. Then you play poorly in 2 games and more of a reality settles in.

Also the fact James has killed the Cs...even in Boston...makes me a bit concerned. But whatever happens, this team has been super with all they have been through. Can't wait to get everyone back.

Isn't it 37-0?

But yeah, honestly if there's anyone who could put a dent to this record, it's Lebron.

Game 5 is an absolute must-win. If they lose, then the series ends for sure Friday night.

I wouldn't say that because I wouldn't put it past this team to do anything. They have overcome all year. They lead the league in coming back from down double digits to win. They became a top 2 seed in the conference and won 55 games even though they were racked with injuries and had to rely on a bench with a ton of rookies. They are as mentally tough as any team I have seen in a long time. They have never quit this year in just about any game. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Cs lose in Boston in game 5 then win the last two. Its the type of team they are.

The Celtics been losing playoff games when I do not watch them play...for some reason.

Guess I have to watch Game 5.
[dang]!! the Celtics loose when I watch the game even when I read play by play on work.

Guess I should not watch Game 5

The Celtics tend to lose when my gf watches the game with me, i'm locking her in the room for game 5

I've asked my girlfriend to stop talking to me while I'm watching the game.

It makes my wife very uncomfortable.

LeBron killing Boston doesn't surprise me, or even bother me. What bothers me is that Tristan Thompson always turns into Superman against the Celtics, and the Celtics seem to just let it happen.

This about sums it up for me.

I felt that they should beat Milwaukee regardless of which Cs were injured, because Milwaukee just isn't that good a team; once they beat the Bucks, I thought, "Cool. Whatever happens now against Philly (a better team than Milwaukee, IMO) is just gravy."

But then they took a 2-0 lead on Philly. At that point I decided that the Celtics should beat Philly regardless of which Cs were injured, because this Boston team is better than that Philly team. Once they beat Philly, I thought, "Cool. Whatever happens now against Cleveland (a better team than Philly, IMO) is just gravy."

But then they took a 2-0 lead on Cleveland. At that point, I decided that the Celtics should beat Cleveland regardless of which Cs were injured, because (LeBron notwithstanding) this Boston team is better than this Cleveland team. The non-LeBron Cavs are mostly old and/or one-dimensional players who have no business being able to call themselves "conference champs."

So yes, in one sense the Cs are playing with house money.

But on the other hand, they've shown that they can be the best team in the East if they just play their game and don't get all deer-in-the-headlights with LeBron.

So, I am believing that the Cs can win this series (I voted for it to go 7 games)—and this is coming from someone who has often been quite cynical about this team throughout the regular season (too many bad shots from Smart, too much underwhelming play from Horford, digging too many early (and big) deficits, etc.). I know that they can do it; it's just a matter of "will they?"

If they lose the series, I'll be disappointed. There's just no getting around that for me. But even if that happens, I'm going to do my best to hold on to all of the positives from this season, while looking forward to the Hayward-Irving Celtics squashing everybody next season.

Well so far this thread has sort of helped our Cs survive each round and Im hoping we aren't let down for game 7.

This is it. This is for all the marbles and lets all expect Lebron James to go Supernova and supersayansan against us in G7.. With or without Love this will be our toughest G7 yet.. History is a bit on our side as I believe wr have only lost one Game 7 in the garden but we can all throw those numbers down the drain... This is Game 7 and this is Lebron James we are talking about.

Honestly I am trying feeling good about this game but Im just hoping that our team will never fold and give it their all.
I hope we are that team that can send Lebron packing off to LA or Philly just like in 2010 when he folded and sent his talents to Miami.

I am cautious optimistic. I do not think James has another game like last night in game 7. Cleveland is pretty beat up. They won the battle but at what cost?

Boston was average at best. Should be better with the crowd behind them.

the bolded text is never in doubt. even last night, with the game gone, this team played defense and played with passion. and CBS rotation again was what...7 players? i love these guys and this team.

people, once more, talk about lebron, yet he has yet to make the difference in any of the home games for boston.

i say boston heads to the final after sending the cavs home and into rebuild hell.  ;D

Boston is unbeaten at Home in this post season.
Cleveland has played quite poorly on the road this series.

Go Celtics.

2 of them against the Raptors. So basically against competition where the opposition isn't afraid of LeBron, the Cavs are 1-5 on the road?

Yeah, when JVG was gushing about this possibly being Lebron's greatest feat (if they win on Sunday), he was totally ignoring the elephant in the room which is that this Cs team going to the Finals would be almost unheard of.

Please please please Celtics, I don't care if you get swept in the Finals - just BEAT Lebron and the Cavs on Sunday.

I agree. With TT, Nance and Green getting big minutes, Baynes can stay at home more. Let those guys try to score from outside the paint all night and keep them boxed out. If they go that small - Green at the 5 - we should be the ones getting offensive rebounds.

History is forever changed with this loss. Remember how elated we all were after game 2? CLE actually was able to win 4 of the next 5 - I guess the old adage, one game at a time really does hold true.

37-1.

That 1 will always bother me. Because it was inflicted by LeBron James. Who clearly always dominate the Celtics especially at the Garden.
