Is this English?

I remember him in 2012. Always aggressive and hustling.
Remember we lost that Game 1 against Atlanta and he bumped referee Marc Davis and got himself a suspension? That's the attitude I like of him. Go on to win Game 2 with the Paul Pierce tebow, and buried the Hawks the rest of the way.

I remember him in 2012
I remember him carving us up last year with the Bulls before he went down with an injury. IT was getting smoked.
These are the games Rondo lives for. I'm not surprised he was carving up the Blazers defense tonight. Not at all.
-
I missed the game but was watching the box score. Did he put the clamps on Lillard/McCollum, too?

He, Jrue and Ian Clark were all really solid on the defensive end. Jrue in particular
-
He was solid, but it was really just how he managed the game perfectly. He told everyone where to go on offense and defense, you could tell he was really leading them. He didn't actually do much, but he basically put AD, Mirotic, and Holiday in their spots and they carved them up. They got gassed at the end of the game tho when the Blazers came back. Pels don't have a very deep bench.

Man that was a close series. It took a miracle to steal b2b games in Chicago and finish them off in 6 games.
At least now Rondo is in the West. I would enjoy watching him erase the Warriors.

Rondo almost cost them the game by going into hero mode in the 4th.
He went away from what was working (4 FGAs through 3 quarters, with 15 assists), and decided that he’d “take over” in the 4th. The result? 5 FGAs (3 misses), only 2 assists, a turnover, and a visibly different philosophy. The Blazers cut a big lead down to a couple of points, with Rondo being the only starter with a negative +/-.
4th quarter Rondo was “bad Rondo”.

Thanks, TP :). I just remember seeing that McCollum didn't have a field goal in the first half and Lillard was something like 1/5 and I was like...RONDO? Lol ;D.

Holiday was forcing shots too more than Rondo. And AD wasn't hitting anything either, aside from clutch FTs.

So Rondo went 2 of 5 from the field, playing a 12min quarter, had 1 turnover, 2 assists and that means he nearly cost them the game? Not seeing it. I think the Pels all looked tired and the Blazers made a run at home. Rondo didnt impact the 4th but I dont think he was bad.

Janos was happy with Rondo:
I AM TELL YOU ON RONDOS. He is do 17 assist of point also many reband! The Very Smart @heydb is talk on his FULL leadership. I am tire Westbok. I am tire rocket beard. I AM PREFER RONDOS!

We saw the Good and Bad playoff Rondo in that game. He almost choked that game up.

Exactly. He was good Rondo for three quarters, bad Rondo for the fourth.
-
Playoff Rondo-the legend grows.
It wasn't the 17 assists or the 8 rebounds. It was his ability to control the game.
He drops knowledge-the way he drops dimes.
He knew every set the Blazers were going to run.
Love his chemistry with AD.

I don't know if calling him "bad Rondo" late is totally fair. I saw one bad shot when he went in for the layup from the left side and he tried to complete a bizarre reverse (that he might have been able to pull off as pre-injury Rondo) that was an air ball, but he then played tremendous defense and had a steal that would have virtually iced the game on the baseline, only to have it his the base line.
I agree that his decision making changed in the late 4th, but that is because RR is an Alpha! I don't think that the Pels win this game without Rondo's driving lay up out of the time out. They certainly would not have even been in this game with RR's overall performance.

The only person who nearly cost the pelicans the game was their coach, who refused to call timeout with a ten point lead and four minutes remaining.
At that point I could visibly see how gassed AD and Mirotic were. The team needed a blow and Gentry did nothing. Portland goes frantic on defense and the Pels weren't ready for it. Rondo went to the bucket to try and help his horses during that stretch.
A timely timeout was required and Gentry never called it .... until that ten point lead was cut to one. His bad!

Absolutely BRILLIANT point Fred Roberts!!

That's how I saw it too. I think Rondo tried to score because his guys were visibly gassed and nothing was falling for them. He tried to get something going to the basket to stop the bleeding. If he doesn't try to attack then people would be complaining about that.

It's nice to see Rondo still performing at a high level, controlling the game while not scoring until late in the 2nd half, but mastering the offense and dishing assists like a mad man. And I'm glad it's not against us this time around, I definitely think Chicago would have swept us last year if he didn't get injured.

Playoff Rondo 2.0 in the house!

He was awesome last night. He knows where the Blazer guards are suppose to be in their set offenses. He had a couple of turnover his team mates were not paying attention. If they had a bench it would have been over sooner. He will make a great coach one day.
-
He definitely appears to have that Playoff gear that he can turn on. Super cerebral player who loves getting everyone involved. Yes, he has attitude but it a part of the package. Amazing to go into Portland and win both games.
On a sad note, Davis might be in NO for a long time. And how ironic that Cousins finally is on a team that makes the playoffs and he is injured and cannot play. Crazy!
-
His team has won the first two PO games on the road in consecutive years :P
-
Appreciate the brilliance of Rondo.
Basketball coaches and players do.
Give it a watch!

TP for sharing. I love watching Rondo!

So nice to see Rondo having this resurgence with Anthony Davis and co. in New Orleans.
-
It seems like Rondo really can turn it on when he wants to. He obviously showed no effort in Dallas, but he showed up in the playoffs in Chicago and is absolutely taking control of the series for the Pelicans.
-
I still think Boston would have come back in that Bulls series even if Rondo was healthy (remember, Isaiah was still obviously grieving at that point and wasn't 100% the first few games).
THAT SAID, it would have likely been a close Game 7 series instead of a 6-game series where by Games 5 and 6 the C's just won comfortably and Bulls seemed to give up by Game 5.
But yeah, Playoff Rondo is a beautiful thing to see.

Playoff Rondo in Game 3 at the United Center would have D'ed up Isaiah Thomas so bad that there wouldn't be a breather's chance being down 0-3.
Me thinks Celts caught a break with Rondo's injury.

Yeah, I think we got extremely lucky. The way Rondo still is able to pick defenses apart is awesome, and when he's locked in on defense next to Jrue they are super hard to score against. Would have continued to be like that with Rondo next to Butler.
I'm glad he can still turn it on like this. Always loved Rondo. Still holds a place in my heart as my favourite Celtic guard post 2000 (subject to change if Kyrie wins us a ring)

If he's playing with an All-World caliber PF/C who can score with impunity, yeah.
This is a taste of what it might have kinda sorta been like if Rondo could have played with KG in his prime.

these announcers are so bad...

What was great to see and hear about from some people is how smart rondo is, calling out defensive plays AS THE PG not a roving center who can see everything. Like him or hate him but everyone has to admit the mans bb iq is super high. Great win for NOLA.

I remember when we played them this year and it was a close game, Rondo was brought in to inbound it and Scal was saying something like “Uh oh, Rondo is just about to pick apart our diamond zone” and I just thought it was cool that he’s still known for just knowing and seeing everything.
Brad quickly shouted at them to get into man, thankfully

Rondo is 6-0 in the playoffs in the last two years when he is playing.
Let that sink in. Wow.

Yes. Great to see. 4-0 on the road. 2-0 on the road as an 8th seed against a 1 seed.
2-0 on the road as a 6th seed against a 3 seed.
Unfortunately I don't think the Pels have a Durant stopper. The Warriors are too big and talented on the wing, etc...Unless Solomon Hill and Darius Miller are worlds better at defense than I know...it might be a sweep of the Pelicans. Their best chance would be to steal game 1 I would think...maybe a poor shooting night from GS.

If I were the Pels I'd go big, and try and put AD on Durant when Curry is out. Yeah, it would hurt their ring protection, but a lineup of Rondo/Jrue/AD/Mirotic/Okafor seems better suited to stop Golden State than starting Moore at the 3

Rondo is STILL worthy of Chris Webber's battle cry.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9D95FNo24s
Love to see him prove that he's still got it.
Continue to lead that team, General.

Playoff Rondo is a real thing. He is perfect for a team like the Pelicans, especially if they had one more scorer (Boogie). With him running the offense in the playoffs, they get great shots every possession.
I don't think non-celtic fans really get who playoff Rondo is. They saw a glimpse last year. They most excuse his Celtic days thinking he was the 3-4th banana.
They don't realize that he was the best player in the many of the biggest games for the Cs. They don't realize that there were multiple games in the Celtic-Heat series where Rondo was the best player on the court with at least 5 future hall-of-famers.
Playoff Rondo is real. That basketball IQ combined with Davis' scoring is one of the more terrifying matchups for oppositions out there. With Holliday playing at a high level, they are pretty dangerous.
-
Playoff Rondo is spectacular. Really glad he’s doing well in NOLA. He’s not suited to be a championship team’s best player, but he’s a great 2nd guy.
-
17 assists in the game 4 win. Give him 3 scorers around him and stand back and watch him work.
-
Could the Pels sign Paul George instead of the injured Boogie?
Rondo, Jrue, George, Mirotic, Davis
Bench:
Moore, Miles, Hill, Clark, Diallo..........need a vet backup big and another bench scorer. Great team.

NOP will have almost no cap space. Getting George isn't happening. They'll have to see who they can get with the MLE or try to swing a trade.

In that case I hope they can buy a pick in order to add someone like Keita bates diop. Or sign and trade the now cheaper boogie for a scrub plus Mikal bridges, though no team is likely to do that.
Wonder if they’ll be able to keep rondo. You can be sure Anthony davis will lobby for your that.

He's not one of your conventional point guards who just scores. He just racked up 4 points, 21 assists, and 10 rebounds.
He was only 6 points shy of getting a triple double in turnovers, however...
-
Pels should try to sign Avery Bradley next season. He had a great chemistry with Rondo and would fit well in their offense a very good 3&D guy. A very good upgrade for their underwhelming bench.
-
Hopefully he’s on an NBA roster next season. NOP to retain him? :)
