I'm going through trade rumor withdrawal this year. With under three weeks to go, I've gotten nothing to play with. By this time last year, we had traded for Butler, George, Davis, Bogut, Cousins and a whole bunch of other players.
Points will be awarded for creativity, originality and adherence to contract/salary-cap rules. If you can get some other media outlet (and I use that term loosely) to pick up your rumor, your final score will be doubled. We will, of course, throw out the scores from the French and Russian judges.

Due to their aging roster and Lamarcus Aldridge's recent trade demand, the front office is concerned about their future. On top of that, the Kawhi Leonard injury isn't healing according to plan, which puts this season in serious jeopardy. The Spurs are talking to interested teams about their interest in Kawhi. According to sources, Danny Ainge has a significant interest, and has offered a package of the 2018 LA pick, Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, and the DPE.

The DPE cannot be used as salary in a trade. It is cap space that contracts can be taken into. And only for one player, making 8.4 mil or less. So this scenario is a no go.
Unfortunately the date has passed where we could conceivably combine the space from the DPE with other players in a trade. It could still be used in a quick flip or one for one to get a player making more, but that seems unlikely too.
