@ShamsCharania: Sources: The Boston Celtics plan to sign forward Jarell Eddie of G League Windy City to a 10-day contract. Boston filling its open roster spot.
If I'm not mistaken, he has been on this team before.
EDIT: Yes, he was on our team back in 2014 during training camp. Ainge claimed him off waivers shortly before training camp ended. However, Eddie got cut in the end.
Ainge said this about him back in 2014:
“He’s a player that we watched in college in Virginia Tech. He’s a player that we watched in his exhibition games with Atlanta,” Ainge said. “He’s always been a player that’s been intriguing to us.”
G-League stats so far: 10 games played, 32 min, 17.2 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.7 apg, 49 FG%, 50 3P%.

Who? Where do we get roster spots for this?!

Who? Where do we get roster spots for this?!
We’ve had an open spot all season.

We only have 14 players under contract right now.

Apparently we had him off waivers for 4-5 days back in 2014 before releasing him. He's a 3 point shooter.
-
This is probably the move that locks us into the 1 seed

You are right, TP ;D
Apparently, he's a pretty good 3 point shooter because he's averaging 50% from three point range through 10 games in the G-League

He looks pretty similar to Jabari Bird to me, which is not good for Jabari Bird.
-
I remember him on the Wizards. He kinda reminds me of a taller Eddie House:

Bird has tons of potential as a defender and is 3-4 years younger so he should be fine.
I'll take more shooting though. Stevens brings Nader in for that and I think he is putting lots of confidence in his abilities but it hasn't been there. I appreciate the Stevens confidence but it's at the limit with Nader.

Not saying Jarell Eddie has anything to do with Jabari Bird, but this illustrates one of the bad things about the two way contracts. Let's just say a guy like Jarell Eddie turns his 10 day contract into a full contract. He could potentially be in a better position than a guy like Jabari Bird who the Celtics are in no rush to move up given his contract allows (and encourages) him to stay in the G league.
You might see more guys decline the two way contracts in favor of being available for any team in the league to call up and try out.

TP: Just goes to prove some of the smartest people in the world are Celtics Bloggers.
-
Trader Danny flips him for a 2018 top 10 pick...
-
Eddie has been a very nice shooter, and nice form to be consistent. I think he will definitely replace Nader, because he is a better forward and he certainly has the tools to replace Nader in the rotation.

Why are the Celtics constantly signing these turds only for them to be moved
-
This is a big move for the Celts, but it also makes Jaylen somewhat redundant. Maybe he really is on the trade block for Davis.

I don't think a 10 day contract guy has any effect on Jaylen.

Yeah but with Jarell Eddie, do we really even need Davis?

Nope, Jaylen's definitely on the move. Rumor is that they're already calling him Wally Pipp in the locker room. Current rumor is Brown, Tatum and a future first to BKN for Okafor and Spencer Dinwiddie.

Now there are two questions I want answered.

so how much do guys like Eddie earn for a 10 day contract?
yes I am lazy.

Depends on how long the player has been in the NBA. For 1st year, they generally get paid $30,888 on average.
From Hoopsrumors.com, "Veterans with more than two years of NBA experience would earn more than $57,672 on a 10-day contract, but the league would pay the extra freight."
-
What's the over/under on how many times Tommy calls him "Eddie Jarell"?

Appreciate it!
Although, I do think Jarell Eddie is gonna stay on our roster for the time being. He's an excellent catch and shoot sniper, I remember vaguely 2-3 years ago (?) that he was in the top 7 for 3P %.
His size and wingspan should be able to allow him to pay the 3 and 4 in short spurts.

From his highlights, he has good shooting form on his 3 point shots, and a fairly quick release. doesn't hurt to bring him in that's for sure. and we get a new guy to root for.
I am more interested in what DA is going to do with the DPE.

I agree, it is not redundant at all because this guy is not the player of Jaylen's caliber and the whole premise of Tarheel's statement makes me wonder if the Tar is not on his heel and more in an area dedicated to rational thinking.

Methinks that about half the posts in this thread are jokes, including Tarheel's.

Eddie House 2.0.
At lease he knows how to square up. Half the guys on the team shoot threes without squaring up.

No,which means that Eddie is being traded for Durant and some first round picks. Trust in ainge. ;D
