Pretty hard to believe this guy doesn't get the NBA has moved in the direction of more rest days, sitting days healthy for rest and minutes restrictions because of cold hard data. He references Karl Malone and Kareem Abdul Jabar playing lots of minutes as his reasoning:http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/21496659/cleveland-cavaliers-coach-tyronn-lue-want-hear-lebron-james-minutes

Weird, how LeBron himself has always been advocating more rest for himself during the season.
Hmm. Someone's on the hot seat.

Well it may be cooling. They played their most complete game of the season and have been better since Thompson and rose got hurt.

They are clearly riding him right now, and may need to another month. I don’t believe they’re afraid to give up HCA to us, to be honest. But I do believe they don’t want to spot those other teams - the Raptors, Wiz, Bucks, Pistons - too many wins and have to play multiple series on the road.
Once Isaiah comes back and the rest of the team stops looking like extras on The Walking Dead, they will be able to cut LeBron’s minutes down.
And if not, oh well. Ride him into the ground Lue.

Cavs need more blowouts, then James can rest more like he did last night. I think once Thomas is back and they get another guy that can score at will, it should help, but they had that last year and James still played a ton, so who knows.

I don't want injuries for any player -- as a human being, not a fan.
Doesn't this smell a little like Thibs a few years ago with the Bulls? Rose, Noah, Deng, and Boozer all fell off a cliff with injuries.

Cavs are looking a lot better lately.
This is the best I have ever seen Jeff Green play in a while. He flourishes as a complementary player.
It would be a tough series were we to face them in the playoffs today.

The spirit of KC Jones lives on.

Thibs......
I will never forget him not subbing at all in that AT game that Doc got thrown out of.
Thought oh just a mistake he won't make as he wasn't thinking of managing a rotation as an assistant. Oh how naive I was....

Lue is full of it. LeBron has played close to 100 games for the past 7 years. He talks openly about rest; he literally took a mid-season vacation in past years.

What do you think is better long term for someone like Lebron? 80 games at 32 mpg or 70 games at 37 mpg? He plays about the same amount of minutes on the season in both instances, but which do you think keeps him fresher and more ready for the playoffs? Do you think there is a difference in the W/L total in those cases?

Neither is ideal (70 at 32 would be ideal). However given the choices I would certainly take 37 in 70. You probably end up coasting for more of the time but still have the recovery period. The thing about this rest and lowered minutes movement is it is all based on injury data. I read a great article years ago (perhaps 538) that explained the reasoning. Saying the great ones used to do this is similar to someone smoking isn't that bad cause their pack a day uncle lived to 96
