Title: Eric Bledsoe?
Post by: johnk.grooms on October 23, 2017, 08:01:58 PM
With Avery out of the equation and a trade exeption that probably won't be needed, would it be possible to trade for him and resign him in the offseason? Next years starting lineup would be Irving, Bledsoe, Hayward, Tatum, and horford with jaylen, Morris, pick, and either rozier or smart plus this years rookies off the bench. If he really makes 1.7 m like my phone says, rozier plus picks should work. If this is possible, what picks would you be willing to part with? And in my opinion, this team competes with both clevlannd and golden state next year. If we could do this and move horford for a better big on a max salary, I think if we do both those things, Boston and golden state would meet in the finals format least seven straight years;)

Yeah. Just saw that on espn. It would have to be smart plus the trade exeption, filler, and potential a lower pick or two. I love Marcus but I think bledsoes a better fit. He would jump straight into the starting lineup at our weakest position, can also play point as that's his natural position, and would make Marcus smart money moving forward. They'd have to punt on this year to get the exeption, but I think it's worth it

One cannot combine a trade exception with a player or another exception to match a higher salary incoming in one trade. Moreover the Celtics had to void all traded player exceptions and cap holds in order to sign Gordon Hayward. They might apply for a Designated Player Exception, but it also cannot be combined with other exceptions/salaries and from what I understand it would be either half of Gordon's salary or full MLE, whichever is lower - in this case $8.4M.

Prefer to keep Smart. Bledsoe has been around the block now and has peaked in his game. Adding him does not make sense for the timeline of ths team. I will pass.

That's not how trade exceptions work.
