He referred Kyrie as "kid" multiple times today during media day...
Yet stated along the lines .... couldnt pin point why Kyrie wanted to leave ;D
-
This reminds me of
https://youtu.be/nS2lJsiQods ;D
-
Lebron needs to google the word overbearing.
-
The media is trying to manufacture something here. Also, and perhaps related, I don't think any public statement by either player should be believed.
-
Irvings responses to questions make me think there is quite a bit of under current there and Lebron is pretending he doesn't know about it
-
It was clear as a bell to me.
Called KI 'kid' about 5 times. Why not the simple pronoun, 'him?'
Said he was ready to 'hand over the keys'. 'When he's ready.' Ready, according to Lebron. Irving, going into his 7th NBA season, obviously, feels ready, thank you.
Said he basically taught Kyrie everything, or at least that he tried to.
Yeah, no thanks. I'd rather walk than kiss the anointed one's blessed rear end if I were a legit star in my own right and was given no respect whatsoever. James went back to CLE because Kyrie was young and the real deal, and Cle could deal for a 3rd (and did) and then he could win and let the young stars carry him a good part of the way.
-
I'm sure that was all intentional on Lebron's part. Just minor mind games.

what a clown Lebum is
Can't wait to see Kyrie and the Celts beat the Cavs this season

I hope we beat them, too.
That said, Lebron is an amazing player who works hard to get better. I genuinely think winning is his first priority. He's got a gigantic ego, but if I could have any player for the next three years, he's still easily the guy.

Who do you hire to coach, and how many years guaranteed?
Whoever it is, I feel bad for them.

Agree 100%. If before the Irving trade we could have offered Horford and matching salary plus the Brooklyn pick, the LA pick and the Memphis pick to Cleveland for Lebron and have him here 3 years....I do that.
-
Kyrie appeared on First Take, and while I agree he SHOULD NOT have gone and it was pretty awkward, here's what he was primarily asked:
(1) Do you think you should have talked to Lebron before requesting the trade?
(2) Do you think you hurt Lebron's feelings asking for a trade?
::) ::) ::) ::) ::)
Barely any questions about Irving the Celtics player and what he can do with Brad Stevens, etc.
Frankly I also think Irving KNOWS Lebron is gone after next season, and it's possible Lebron goes OKC after this season to join with Melo, Wade(?)
-
In my opinion, I don't think he was really going to "give [Irving] the keys." That just sounds like some guilt tripping to me. Reminds me when an attorney I knew got a higher paying gig doing in house counsel and left the firm he was an associate at for a number of years. The managing partner told him, "We were going to make you partner." Just rubbing some salt in the wound of sorts, if you ask me.
-
Just eat a Snickers Bar Lebron.

i think his legacy is his first priority. winning just happens to help his legacy

Still glad we got kyrie
-
Listening to him call him "kid" a million times is typical LeBron and his passive aggressive style. That can wear on anyone over time. ::)
-
Kyrie wanted to be a peer, not an underling. LeBron just doesn't view Kyrie that way, and clearly doesn't realize that was a problem.

'When he's ready' sounds like when Lebron leaves or retires, to me, and I doubt that he could have taught Kyrie anything of substance regarding closing games, lol. I'll never understand what happened to Lebron insofar as clutch play is concerned. The guy was a definite killer through 08-09 and then it's like he had some kind of midlife crisis and somehow forgot how to seal the deal. Weird. That's not to say that he hasn't made any big shots since then, or anything, but he just no longer appears to have that gear, so to speak, and prefers putting the fate of the outcome of a game/series in the hands of a friend (Wade), hired gun (Ray Allen), or whatever category into which Kyrie falls? A specialist, perhaps? Idk :-\.
-
Only thing I don't want him to be clueless about is joining us next year to sweep the bLubs in the 2019 finals ;D
-
I can completely understand why Kyrie wanted to leave, even if I don't have the inside information. He accomplished everything he could have hoped for in Cleveland. Another ring in the shadow of LeBron James was simply not satisfying enough as a goal.
-
Lebron was trolling in his usual passive aggressive style.
-
I don't know what anyone would expect LeBron to say. It's a personal thing between them and I don't think anyone can understand. Nevermind that Kyrie is his own man. His reasoning can be "because I wanted to" and that's fine. That pretty much is exactly what happened.

You are nutty if you think that is a coincidence. He is winning on the highest stage against the best players in the world. He didn't just waltz into beating Golden State and almost even doing it basically alone the first Finals they matched up.
He wants to win, works extremely hard at it, and he does. Any Celtics fan, who has seen him crush their team multiple times, should know that.
-
Everybody wants to win but at 33 yrs old...there is only so much your body can do. PP and KG tried but father time caught up with em..same will happen to LeBron. He ain't winning the East this year. Id stop following the Cs if Kyrie and GH can't stop Lebron this year.A healthy IT might sway it in the Cavs favor but until I see a healthy IT, my crystal ball says the Cs are putting a stop to this Cleveland team.

You might want to re-consider that one.
