Title: Anthony adds Cavs and at least 1 other team to his list
Post by: Moranis on September 22, 2017, 09:23:35 PM
So says ESPN. Apparently the Knicks can't reach a deal with Houston and asked Anthony to expand his list

I just want to know who the other team is. There's been renewed smoke around Portland, so I'm curious.

I wonder if the cavs acquired Crowder with the idea to flip him in a package for melo.

LOL they can go right ahead.

Crowder actually gives them some great defense and a spark off the bench. Now he could get flipped for a guy who will complain A TON about not getting the ball and showing ZERO effort on the defensive end.

He can be traded by himself, but can't be traded in combination with other players until October 21st.

I was curious about whether they'd move Crowder myself. Jae seems to fit their needs better, but Carmelo may help convince Lebron to stay.

Jae + Shump + Frye works in late October.

The Nets and Lakers and possibly Clippers

Portland is not one of the teams. The Knicks reached out to Cleveland and that other team in the last week or so.

If the Knicks just want a salary dump Frye, Shumpert, Jefferson and either Tavares or Felder provides enough salary.

The reality is if the Cavs acquire Anthony they basically have to trade Love but they obviously won't trade Love for Anthony so I'm not sure where that leaves them.

Woj is reporting the other team is OKC, which is interesting.

EDIT: Kanter and Abrines and/or McDermott works for Melo. Throw in some second round picks or a protected 2022 first round pick, and that's probably better than Houston's offer with Capela not included. A Russ, Roberson, George, Melo, and Adams lineup would be pretty interesting.

Yeah, that's the thing people don't get. Lebron, Carmelo, and Love simply can't play together except in very small doses with Love at the small-ball 5, which might end up creating a historically bad defense.

I just don't see them going after Melo right now.

They absolutely would, and then they'd lose in the 2nd round. MAN the West is stacked.

That would be awesome. That team could give GSW a run for their money.

I don't think it would convince LeBron to stay.

It is one of those moves that would make LeBron happy today but irritate and disappoint him as the season went on.

At the least, I don't think it would have any effect on LeBron's decision.

At the worst, I think it would help convince LeBron to leave = That Cleveland have gotten too old. Are too slow and lacking in athleticism. That they are too flawed defensively. That they have used their trade chips and have limited ability to improve. That he cannot win with this group.

I do not think it would help (at all) to convince LeBron to stay.

Maybe, if Westbrook can adapt his game a little bit.  That team won't be great if Westbrook dominates the ball like last year.

The Blazers would be an interesting fit for him.

Can't see Melo waiving his no trade clause to go to Portland.  Don't see who the Blazers have that the Knicks would want.  The Blazers are in cap hell so any trade would involve the Knicks taking back at least one of the Blazers bad contracts.

How about doing a 3-team deal (OKC-NYK-BOS) to get back Kyle O'Quinn from the Knicks  ;D

O'Quinn a nice depth piece at the 5 (averaged like 6 rebounds/game in 16 MPG).

I'm just thankful that he's not coming here, and that the ad nauseum trade proposals to acquire him have stopped.  I don't see him making any team into a champiionship contender.
