Hey guys. I'm flying to the USA for the first 4 games of the season and was hoping some of you might be able to give me some advice about Philadelphia. I've been to games in Cleveland and Boston before but never been to Philadelphia.
Firstly regarding getting a ticket, it seems StubHub is their official ticket retailer so it looks like I'm having to go through them. As one of those outdated people who doesn't own a smart phone (something even my parents mock me for) I believe I have to get one of the tickets that can be downloaded and printed. Website says ticket would be sent no later than October 16, just wondering if anybody who buys regularly from StubHub could advise on exactly when I could expect the ticket to be sent? I fly out on October 15 and would like to have everything sorted before I leave, even if it is just a simple matter or printing it out. For the Boston games I've always picked up paper (!) tickets at the box office, something I expect I probably won't be able to do if I come back in a year or 2.
As for the game, any advice on where or where not to sit? I can't afford anything too pricey but can be a little flexible.
Finally would really appreciate some advice on what I could do in Philly. I'm staying for a few nights, not far from Wells Fargo Center. Would've liked a couple more nights in Boston but the accommodation prices have really skyrocketed since I was last there in 2013. Which I should've expected really. So far all I have planned for Philadelphia is to eat a cheese steak and see the Rocky steps at the museum!

In Philly, the touristy stuff is worth a look. Liberty Bell, Art Museum, Philadelphia Zoo. Pats and Geno's are the most famous cheese steak joints. Classic cheese steak is with "wiz" and onions.
Sight lines are pretty good at the stadium. Lower balcony is generally fine.

In terms of ticket price, unfortunately you couldn't pick a worse game to go to.
People in Philly are very excited about the season. It's a Friday night game. First home game of the season and it's against a marquee opponent. It's going to be a full house for sure, with a lot of excitement.
I got these floor seats last year for like $105 (https://www.stubhub.com/philadelphia-76ers-tickets-philadelphia-76ers-philadelphia-wells-fargo-center-philadelphia-10-20-2017/event/103138306/?sort=price+asc&qqd=1&qtyq=false&qty=2&dt=2&sid=29902,29955,29891&cart_id=pksaayf4r_bP_OfI&byo=1&tktbkt=3&byo_qty=2) each when the C's were in town in December (and there were multiple tickets in this area for similar prices), I imagine this was because Embiid, Noel, and Simmons were all out, the Sixers had the worst record in the East at the time, and there really wasn't much optimism about that team yet. Usually I recommend waiting until the last minute to buy tickets as prices tend to drop, but I'm not sure if that's going to happen here unless Fultz, Simmons, and Embiid all go down in preseason. This one's likely to stay a hot ticket.
When it comes to where to sit, I've knocked out about half the NBA arenas so far, and I think they're all pretty much the same. I avoid sitting lower level behind the backboard at all costs, otherwise I think just about every where else has a good enough view. I'm usually just happy to be in the building though.
In terms of what to do in Philly, besides the historical stuff, they have a few casinos if that's your thing. The King of Prussia Mall is the largest mall in the US, but it's really unspectacular, so I wouldn't recommend spending time there. If nothing else in Philly interests you, another thing to consider is taking a day trip somewhere else. NYC is like a 90 minute train ride away, DC is about 2 hours away by train. Atlantic City is about an hour away by car.

Ticketsnow, or whatever it's called, is the official NBA site that they advertise. Compare the prices at both when you decide where you want to sit. Be sure to incorporate fees, which they may not tell you until the end of the transaction. ::) Usually about 20%.
I'm a STH and usually sell my tickets through the official site.

Yes I soon realized when checking out the prices that I was going to have to cough up a decent amount. By seeing the Celtics' first 4 games I'm seeing 3 different opening nights. Thanks for the info as well.

My advice to you is don't take it personally, get some cheese steak with american not whiz, and have a great time. It should be fun.

As for actually getting the tickets from Stubhub, they are instant downloads and can be printed immediately after purchase (or presented on your phone using the app at the arena). You do not need to have them mailed to you - I don't think anybody would actually do that. If it says 'electronic' next to the the tickets you choose (I didn't see any that didn't), you should be good to go.

Still debating over what seat to get for the Philly game but just bought my ticket for the Cavs game and was surprised I managed to get one for just under $200 (before fees of course). Thanks for the info re: Stubhub

So I've hit a snag getting a ticket for the Philadelphia game on October 20th.
Went on Stubhub, picked a seat, went to make payment and got an error message saying 'Oops we made a foul play, but here's help' (with no help actually offered). Tried about 5 or 6 times and kept getting the same error message. Chatted to 2 reps who just tried to make the purchase from their end with the same result. Was told something along the lines of 'seems you'll have to use our UK site based on your location'. They took my phone number and said they'd get back to me.
I seriously doubt I'll hear from them so looking at other options. I know Ticketmaster don't sell the tickets for 76ers games usually but looks like they have plenty of resale tickets. As I mentioned above, with no smart phone I need a download and print option.
Can anybody give me some feedback on the reliability of getting resale tickets from Ticketmaster? I know all the fees they add on are a real kick in the nads but I've accepted that and am OK with paying a bit extra for the piece of mind of getting a guaranteed ticket.

I've had no problems with resale tickets from Ticketmaster the couple times I've used them. Worked the same as StubHub.

You are 100% fine. In fact, you're even more secure than you are on StubHub. If I'm a season ticket holder selling on SH, they ask me to upload a PDF, but that doesn't stop me from going to my account and invalidating the tickets, holding the purchaser with an invalid barcode. In theory, SH will make you good on it, but I have no idea how that works.
On the other hand, if I am reselling through the TM site, the only way for me to invalidate the tickets is to remove them from the site. No way to kill the barcode while the tickets are listed, so you can be sure that any tickets for sale there are good. It's about the only good thing about TM resale.
