Idk if its been actually announced, but seems to be verified...very likely only for insiders. I understand and congratulate but can't say I'm not bummed.
Jonathan Givony ✔ @DraftExpress
An announcement regarding the future of http://DraftExpress.com : http://www.draftexpress.com . Thank you for your support over the past 14 years.

Awesome. So, in all likelihood this means they're going to cut down on analysis, focus more on entertainment and social justice, and stick the interesting stuff behind a pay wall, right?

Noooooooo

TP for stating exactly what will happen.
-
Garbage, total garbage.
Screw ESPN
-
Fantastic. More content I won't pay for.

I'm not sure why you had to drag social justice into this, but sure. Not everyone can be Kirk and Callahan :D

This is just awful. I will be so flipping mad if I have to pay for these [dang] videos.
-
Givony built an awesome sight, and put so much into the video analysis.
He is due a big pay day. Kudos to him.
-
Well, ESPN bought Jayski's as well (a NASCAR site). They eventually rolled it into their format and now it sucks. This is too bad, I liked DraftExpress but good for Jonathan!

Yep. If it becomes an Insider thing, I'll just be watching more youtube.
-
ESPN has certainly made some interesting basketball moves this year.
-
Congrats to Givony. If it's a pay for content, I guess I'll just go without it. Too bad. It's my first Go To site for draft stuff.
I'm sure eventually the format/content will get ruined but that will probably be years down the road.
-
There's so much draft content out there for free. I'm going to pass on the subscription if there is one.

save for the social justice bit, yep, that looks to be the future for draft express. sigh. too bad for so many basketball fans who relied upon DX for information.

Draftexpress is now dead. All their people and content are moving to ESPN domain and to be locked by ESPN insider. Hopefully the Ringer (Kevin O'Connor) or CBS Sports could take advantage of the new vacancy in draft analysis.

I prefer keeping sports and politics separate, except in rare and relevant circumstances. It doesn't matter if it's Rush Limbaugh or Bomani Jones.

Their very useful archives will remain available.

Something that valuable shouldn't remain free forever, and it's nice to see Givony et al. get rewarded for building the best draft site out there, by far.
Shame it's going to ESPN though. They have a history of ruining things, and I've mostly been able to cut that site out of my regular visits.

I can think of a million other more important issues I have with ESPN before I get to social justice. But that's just me.

ESPN is where sports analysis goes to die. They care more about talking about politics than they do sports. ESPN can never match what they had with early-mid '00's NFL Primetime.
