Fouts and Horrigan are morons. You get 25 players and the 4th pick in the entire draft is a punter? Fouts would have been better off selecting himself. As for Horrigan, he had some of the greatest QBs and WRs of the modern era to chose from and he selects Don Hutson? For his era Hutson was elite but he would be Wes Welker in todays game.

Lol. Fours picks a punter, tight end, and kicker in the first four rounds.

Didn't look through it all, because it looked pretty weird.

But I saw Rice in the 2nd round, so I looked at Turney's team and a couple others...I think he wins hands down.

It is odd, but with such strict roster limitations, you pretty much ensure yourself the top player at those positions and because of depth at certain positions you can still end up with Terry Bradshaw as your QB.  I certainly wouldn't have gone that way, but it might be a decent enough strategy.

Taking a punter with the 4th pick overall in an all-time draft is idiotic.  Plain & simple.

I ask this sincerely: is there a wide gap between Ray Guy and the 10th best punter of all time? Is that gap bigger than the one between Jerry Rice and the #10 WR?

Makes me think it might be a good time to bring back the CB Historical Draft.

I don't think so.  Guy doesn't even fall in the top 50 all time for yards per punt.   What he was excellent at was pinning teams inside the 20 but are you going to take a player 4th overall for a few extra yards of field position?

Forgiving the fact the draft is just wrong it's also blatantly anti-Patriot.  I mean they picked Tony Dungy over Belichick. That happened.

How Belichick wasn't either the first or second coach taken is mind boggling.

True, but from 73 to 83 he finished in the top 5 every season but 82, led the league 3 times and finished 2nd 3 times.  If you are to assume the era doesn't matter, then Ray Guy is right there with Shane Lechler, Jerrel Wilson, and Sammy Baugh as the top punter of all time.  No one else is really all that close to those 4.

Of course in this type of thing taking someone like Sammy Baugh who was an excellent punter, but also played quarterback (called tailback during the early seasons) at a high level would make a heck of a lot more sense.  I mean in 1940, Baugh led the league in completion %, passing yards, TD's, TD %, Yards per game, Rating and simultaneously led the league in yards/punt (with the longest punt on the year at 85 yards).  In fact from 40 to 43 he led the league in yards/punt (he did in 45 as well) and was a high level QB that whole time (he was a high level QB for basically the entire 40's).

Again if you assume that era doesn't matter then using Sammy Baugh as your QB and Punter allows you to take an extra RB or WR as a wild card.
