Title: 2007 Hawks were ahead of their time?
Post by: jay on July 14, 2017, 12:47:26 PM
The 2007-2008 Hawks finished 37-45 but they were building on the "position-less basketball" idea.

5 of their 6 players that played the most minutes were between 6'7" and 6-10" with Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, Al Horford, and Josh Childress. Mike Woodson would usually play those guys with Mike Bibby or Anthony Johnson on the floor at guard.

The next season, they improved to 47-35. Childress was gone, and 6'4" Flip Murray and 6'5" Maurice Evans joined the rotation.

2009-2010 they reached 53-29 with Jamal Crawford replacing Flip Murray.

Even back in 2005-2006, they started doing it. Actually they were even more extreme. They were also bad at 26-56.  Top 6 in mins played were: Joe Johnson, Al Harrington, Josh Smith, ZAZA Pachulia, Josh Childress, Marvin Williams.
