Fixed.
Sidenote: What is the matchup that Amir is actually playable in? Talk about falling off a cliff!

I was thinking about that earlier. He could play and start against Cleveland's frontcourt, though I feel like he'd be absolutely killed on switches and the PnR to the TT alley-oop.
I'd prefer to stay smaller with Al at center to give us more overall spacing, but I could see Brad going back to him if we make it to the next round and play Cleveland.

I think Amir gets some run against Thompson in the next round. TT will wear Horford out over the entire game. Also, it's tougher to play small, since Crowder needs to be LeBron's primary defender, and you need someone to guard Love. Obviously Olynyk can do that some of the time, but we'll probably want Amir at least occasionally.
I'm not expecting a win because I think the Wizards will be super hungry with their backs against the walls.Payback time for Thug Morris. The refs didn't call his throwdown of Horford last game, I hope they make the adjustment.
BUT
If the Wizards want to be even more physical than last time (as Morris said they should) and the refs don't like it, this could frustrate them and get them out of rhythm.
So maybe there's a chance tonight. Also, in IT I trust.
Go C's !

I don't think Amir is capable of this, just too nice a guy. More likely would be Morris-Smart and if they both get tossed, I don't like that tradeoff at all.I'm not expecting a win because I think the Wizards will be super hungry with their backs against the walls.Payback time for Thug Morris. HEY, Maybe that's something Amir could do? Beat on Morris a little. Maybe get inti a fight and get them both tossed? Who knows, maybe he can do something to help.
I expect this game to be the toughest of the series. Wiz will be ready to go at home. I feel like Boston loses tonight but gets game 4
Will watch tonight starting from the 1st quarter. You could skip the first quarter. The game gets much better after that...lol
Didn't watch the first quarter of last two games. Won't repeat that mistake lol ;D

First page! These days that is I can hope for. You guys are fast. :o
I've been watching ESPN for awhile, and I've yet to see anyone predict even one Celtics win in the next two games at Washington. It is crazy how much of an underdog this team still is.
http://twitter.com/celtics/status/860260503653896192
Looks like Green is back in the starting lineup.
Is 33 too young for a heart attack?
Morris has called out his teammates, questioning their toughness.
I guess he wants to skip the basketball game and get right to the lug wrenches.
Our two stars have been pretty terrible so far.
3 mins into the game and I'm muting it. ESPN commentators can't stop jerking off the Wizards, despite their 0-2 hole.Painful listening. Robots reading off the fact sheet.

OMG who is this announcer????
Cs have been outscored 8-0 since I started following the game ... sorry, guys, my bad.
This is just simply ridiculous. How is it that Brad simply cannot find the answer to this poor start crap?
Keeping Isaiah out so long was a huge error by Brad. Might've just cost us the game.
So, the Celtics learned nothing from slow starts the last two games ....
is this doris burke??Sounds like her. She is a pro at parroting back whatever lines the network wants her to say. A real tool.
really annoying

It's the first quarter.
Settle down pippy longstockings.

And what is with this experimenting crap with these rotations in the playoffs? It's like we see a brand new rotation every single game anymore..

The crazy comebacks are possible at home. It's a lot harder on the road.
lol Brad Stevens showing lack of respect for Wizards, is he conceding this game? If so, I can actually do something else rather than watch this game.TBH, I was thinking the same thing. This is not a must win game and they are playing like it. Do I waste the next 2 hours being frustrated?

Jesus, Brad has 50,000 times the knowledge you (or I) will ever have about ball.
Quit acting like we doubt be down 30 if you were coaching.

Hey, if you wanna play coach, and act like you know better than one of the best coaches in the league, that is your prerogative. It just makes you look really foolish.
I'm still gonna call foolish out when I see it.

Marcus smart is trash. Can people tell me what he does again besides flopping? Hope Ainge ships him out next season for a pF
How is that not a foul on Mahinmi? Give me a break. And of course the announcers quickly say mahinmi is innocent

These second chance points are killing us.As Brad said in the interview, C's need to wake up before they can think about coming back.

That wasn't even an illegal pick. That was a good, hard pick that Oubre just ran into.

ESPN giving us some real solid audio of the Washington hecklers in the front row. Well done.seriously it's terrible audio. Whether its the annoying fans or the Washington commentators

Meh. Was hoping Boston would come out with more than this
Another perspective on that - Oubre definitely hit the ref there, too, which will be taken into consideration. That's going to be a minimum of a one game suspension, perhaps more.
thing is its not that early anymore.Meh. Was hoping Boston would come out with more than this
EARLY LEADS ARE MEANINGLESS!!!!!!! did u not get the memo! no way they can ever catch up with us!

probably wearing a wall jersey too.

I don't want to be an annoying homer If that is what you are getting that. I am subjective.
I just don't whine all game long.
I'd rather have Brown taking those 5 shots than Smart...The opposing team would be very happy if the Celtics offense consisted of Smart taking that wing 3 all night. And for that reason that shot is pretty much available every single possession.

Nobody here complains about hard picks. It's illegal screens (feet moving) that we don't like
Don't let that get in the way of your narrative that every fan but you is "weak" or "fake", though

Oubre should get a couple of games because he made contact with the Referee.

If that was our fans high fiving someone who just tried to injure a defenseless player, you can only imagine what they would be saying about our fans and Boston.

Naw son. I literally don't think anyone has said anything about "hard" Gortat screens. We've complained about "moving" screens. There's a big difference there. KO's screen wasn't a moving screen...

get it down to 10TO's by Smart?
I love Smart but he's been downright awful. Maybe the worst I've ever seen him play.Let Rozier bring it up

I just hear Blount sent a video to the Celtics before game...now this half makes perfect sense. ;D
Lets just cut a little off this lead going into half.
Mistakes by Brad, incredibly poor play by us, good play by them, and a hostile road environment is not a recipe for success.
So one of our players get cheapshoted. Not only do we not respond, we actually lay down even harder. Quite the culture we've built.Nothing to do with culture. Their guys have been better than our guys all year, never mind this series. This time we don't have the crowd to energize us. We better not lose at home I'll say that.
P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C
Just sit the starters and give it another go on Sunday. No need to waste any more energy on this one.

Yeah, this one is on everyone. Brad has to find a way to get us to start better, but the guys have to take it upon themselves, too.
The defense has actually been pretty good the last several minutes.

let brown and rozier play all out now nothing left to lose,
Starts are a problem. Were able to over come them so far. Tonight feels like a team that has home court and a 2-0 lead.
You knew the wizturds were going to come out like this
cut it to 15 by the end of 2nd
how big is AL
cut it down as close to 10 as possible
NO PREPARATION 3 GAMES IN A ROW
anyone beg to differ? i am all ears
not going to get back into this by chucking 3 after 3

I'm not even particularly concerned. This has been a perfect storm of bad. The slow starts were bound to catch up to us, and this Wizards team is way to good to get rocked in 4 straight.

You can prepare all you want, but if the players come out flat, there's nothing you can do. You onow maybe you should just switch teams. At least was fans appreciate our coach.

Celtics not hitting 3s well, and they are down big.
Defense could be a lot better too, but lack of offense is the biggest problem right now IMHO.

Welp. That was like passing a kidney stone
Welp. That was like passing a kidney stone
The Celtics really need to get a bruiser somehow by next season.
They can't keep letting the Gortat's and Lopez's of the world dominate them.
Oh my God, Rose just said that Olynyk flopped on that Oubre tackle.... How effing stupid can you be?? He ran full speed into him!

I have had 2 kidney stones, it wasn't as bad as the stones, not even close. Those are like a man giving birth.
But we looked horrible. I think we better show some fight in the 2nd half or game 4 is going to be that much harder.
CJ McCollum is the most professional and insightful guy on the halftime show. I know that he's quite interested in journalism, but that is both a credit to CJ and pretty embarrassing for ESPN.
Brad needs to start lobbying about all the grabbing the Wizards are doing on D. Refs are letting them totally get away with it.

When Kobe was on the show, I was so happy to see Rose look "helpless" in the studio and shows

Okay, I'm finding it quite hilarious that Kelly "Soft As Soft Can Be" Olynyk is now being touted as a "dirty" player by those outside of Boston. I think it's a mark of your basketball intelligence, or lack of, if you're going to try and make that argument.
The kid is pretty much the equivalent of the uncoordinated kid that happens to be bigger than everyone else and falls over them and hurts them in the game. He's way too soft and timid to legitimately be a "dirty" player lol
CJ McCollum is the most professional and insightful guy on the halftime show. I know that he's quite interested in journalism, but that is both a credit to CJ and pretty embarrassing for ESPN.
Do you believe in a comeback tonight? Keep hope alive.

Welp. That was like passing a kidney stone
I have had 2 kidney stones, it wasn't as bad as the stones, not even close. Those are like a man giving birth.
But we looked horrible. I think we better show some fight in the 2nd half or game 4 is going to be that much harder.
TP for your pain. I was rushed to ER last year hunched over in pain and they said it was that. Brutal!

I've been following all 10 days and he hasn't missed any games or quarters yet, him not being out here to start the half is very odd

Well he did tear Kevin Loves arm out of socket.
And that undercut of Wall last game was bush league.
Clean screen...Still got his shoulder up around Oubre's head.
I guess what I'm saying is...it's not very surprising to hear him called a dirty player, to me at least.

We have to be shooting around 30%
I heard there were these epic defensive players on the Celtics. I wonder why they didn't show up
So, apparently Brad wasn't done with this dumb starting lineup, even with as terrible as it has been.

I find Brad to be a pretty smart guy. Surprised you call him 'dumb' so often throughout the course of a game. Game after game.
He plays with a long view in mind; develops talent and motivates young players to grow into better versions of themselves. Not many like him in the NBA, I'm grateful we have him.
Green should not be playing.
Only Marcus Smart flops, though
Put in Brown and Rozier. There's nothing to lose at this point.

Should be JJ or Brown. Brad is playing a weird rotation...
Hopefully this turd will refocus them for Sunday
This game is demoralizing.
This series is going to be over if the Celtics lose by 20+ again in Game 4 and not in a good way. The C's let the Wizards' toughness get to them.

Never called Brad dumb, but he does make dumb rotation decisions at times. He's started the wrong person all three games this series so far and has yet to adjust properly to it. We're getting murdered on the boards once again, yet he continues to go small, even when it's not working to overcome that deficit with his shooting.
I'll never understand this notion on Celticsblog that Brad is not able to be critiqued.
Al Horford....only 8 points and 1 rebound for a max contract player??? Lol sounds like the Game 2 from the Bulls series.

I think the Cavs lose game threein toronto also.
Sooner or later getting down 17 plus in a game will cost you. That night is tonight
Thomas looks spent. Guy needs a day to regroup

Whether the do or not, they will get the Raptors best effort.

Pretty much this. You can't keep doing that against a good team, especially on the road.

Can Isaiah please come out of this game. Losing one game won't sink us, losing Isaiah would.

You give them way too much credit. They're still human, and they still have flaws and make bad decisions.
I don't care what his reason is for starting Green and Amir this series. The proof is in the pudding: it's the wrong lineup to start off with how we're spotting them huge leads. It has absolutely been a bad decision.
I'll give him a pass with starting Green game 1 since we played so well against Chicago with him, though I was on the record saying that was a bad idea prior to game 1. But there was no justification for starting Amir with how he's played in the playoffs and given the matchups. And going back to Green this game was also a major mistake, as we've seen tonight.
Why is Brad still playing our starters? He must have his reasons, but winning this game is not one of them.
Its a different set of posters when we are losing.

Its a different set of posters when we are losing.
That's what happens when we play like this. It's such a bifurcated team: we either play phenomenal or straight up terrible, and it mainly depends on our defense.
I'm assuming Brad just threw in the white flag.
Welp, right from the opening tip---the Refs called this game for Washington....guess we need a 7 game series, so LeQueen can be well rested.
We might as well forfeit the next game too. Save us from the humiliation and prevent them from feeling even better than they already do.I'm assuming Brad just threw in the white flag.
Finally took IT out@!
It is what happens when the coach and players cry like babies in the media
Signs of life out there. But it could be well as over. At least finish it strong, regardless of the result. What happens from here on out will have absolutely no bearing on the rest of the series unless Brooks leaves his starters in and someone gets hurt.

yup.

I can't help it...I had to email ESPN and let them know that their choice of TV announcers suck. I know ESPN has been going through some hard times of late, but this is embarrassing for them.
Much like this game is for the C's.
Why does Brooks have John Wall still in?

Agreed. But at the same time if they called it even Brad Stevens all game we would only be down 15. Wall got brush fouls all game and they are still allowing gortat to set illegal screens all game I don't get it..Welp, right from the opening tip---the Refs called this game for Washington....guess we need a 7 game series, so LeQueen can be well rested.

Celtics 3 pt shooting stinks tonight
that is one of the key reasons why we are losing

I really don't see the poor officiating claim tonight...
Yet as I say that the refs pull this Jennings horsecrap allowing him to completely do all of that crap...
If I were Brooks I'd send Jennings to the locker room. Not sure what he's trying to prove.
Brad needs to get tossed! Send a message!Might give him some extra time to figure out why his team consistently isn't prepared to start playoff games.
Good night , and please remember :
1. Happend to Spurs too
2. Nets pick

I'm sorry, but your logic is just completely flawed here. You're essentially making an appeal to authority on behalf of somebody else, which is a classic logical fallacy.
You say that you know the coach is not perfect, since no one is, but you act to the contrary by criticizing anyone who dares to critique any decisions of his, whether or not they are legitimately poor decisions. He can still be a great coach, know WAY, WAY more about basketball than me, yet still make poor decisions that someone else wouldn't. This is exactly what is happening here. Are you really going to argue that starting Amir and Green in this series in differing games were not poor decisions?
And why are you only on my arse about this? There have been at least a half dozen other posters that have criticized Stevens' rotation decisions in this game. According to your flawed logic, every single criticism like this shouldn't be here.

Boston better come out p---ed off Sunday and breathing 🔥
I meant done in terms of the yapping. Game's been over since the 2QWashington bench is still up. This isn't done.
LOLOLOLOLOLOL we will be lucky to lose by just 12.
Boston better come out p---ed off Sunday and breathing 🔥
Come out fired up meaning they don't get down 20 early
JAYLEN THE FUTURE.
Please don't tell me this mini-run means CBS will put this as the starting lineup Game 4 :P
Honestly the fact that we could lose this by less than 15 is surprising...

i said it earlier...........just cut it to 15
heck the WHIZZ clowns lost by 12 and 10 to us!
Did brown miss the foul shot on purpose? Wow perfectly played
So, to highlight our problems starting off slow:
Quarters 2-4 we're tied in points with the Wizards. It's the 22 point deficit after one that is legitimately the only difference right now. Brad has to figure something out to get these guys off to a better start.

Getting the starting five right will help.
Either Jerebko or Brown should start the game in the next one. No more Green and Amir experiment.

Brad has to figure something out to get these guys off to a better start, which starts with the appropriate lineup. But the guys have to also take the initiative. It's just as much on them to actually play defense from the get-go.
Knowing this team, this butt whooping might have been the best thing for them.
Yeah, stating the obvious.
But that 22-0 run is the difference between being down 22 and being tied now... :P
So, to highlight our problems starting off slow:

someone had mentioned a while back that early leads are meaningless.
Brown is going to be a staple for us for next decade plus or until he is traded for George..I see glimpses of Wow to the thousandth degree! I was so wrong on his potential before last draft.
Either Jerebko or Brown should start the game in the next one. No more Green and Amir experiment.Maybe you go big lineup and try to establish a defensive mindset right from the start. Brown at the 2, Jerebko at the 4.
All these suggestions on who to play and start next game tells you who has the player advantage (despite the 2-1 lead).
It feels like an eternity ago that Zeller was an real rotation player.

Well they are not entirely wrong.
Only 1/3 success rate of winning after having a big early lead 8)

Well I was talking about this series alone and the 3 games.

It's still just one win.
spacing is useless if shots are not falling. they can play off and wait for dribble drives and collapse. WE NEED A DOMINANT BIG DOWN LOW. been saying this since doc rivers.

Can't add a player in the playoffs. We'll just have to play who we have.

Get game four. That embarrassing performance and the wiz acting like **** bags should focus them

I actually see this as the opposite. We are up 2-1 despite not yet finsing the right fifth man. To me its jj or brown and ive been saying that since the chicago series.
This was a MUST win for the bullets....not for us---and it showed.

I'm sure this a very different team next year!

So, about PJ Tucker and Serge Ibaka... ;DYeah, they really helped Toronto take that extra step ::)

Raptors are down 2-0 with them. Still pass.
Wouldn't have made much of a difference tonight.

Yeah, Raptors gave up two 1st rounders and won't get any further than this.
These games are the reason I believe giving the max to IT is a tough question (as it is in other forums outside this, where we are biased Celtics fans).
When he scores 53 and his pair scores 40, well...he is a God and he is beating franchise records and making history and those great stuff. Don't remember he's been scored 40. However, in games he is dark in offense, and there are a good number, he keeps being abused in defense and this breaks the team balance.
And this is not overreacting after a game, it's what I've been keeping since I write here (and many has confronted me just for this opinion, which you may or may not share, but it has its point).

If you get another all-star or two beside him teams won't be able to throw multiple guys at him without being severely punished.

Well that wasn't really what he was talking about. Dario was talking about IT giving up so much defensively that he hurts us almost as much as he helps. I tend to agree with him and I like IT. Especially deeper into the playoffs, there isn't anyone to 'hide' IT on. Most teams in the conference semis and finals don't have major weak players that can't exploit the size advantage thing.
I admit that when he is on, he is almost unstoppable and the deficiencies on D are minimized. But when he is having a poor game offensively we are really going to struggle to get wins in the playoffs.

Thanks and TP for understanding my point. You know, being critical on oneself is the only way to improve.

This is simply not true. Our major problems do not necessarily come from Thomas being abused defensively. they come from Thomas being taken out of games offensively.
