He doesnt believe this core will succeed, so he is not gonna trade the future for band aids. He is going to trade some pieces but not those Nets pick. The goal is not this season. Ive said it before, whatever we earn this season is gravy, no one available at the Deadline is gonna take this team to the finals (except maybe Cousins), so we just roll with what we have and get to the offseason.

The players deserve all the criticism they are going to get, but no one should forget that Stevens sat back and allowed this team to slack off over and over again this whole season. There is absolutely no reason trading Sully for Al and losing Turner should have caused our defense to fall off like it has.
And I think Stevens needs to pay a little more attention to how San Antonio runs their offense. Yeah, they do the read-and-react thing but Pop also make bleepin' sure that players know their roles and stay within those roles. Not everyone on the Spurs has a green light to chuck up threes whenever they want.

Poor effort on defense in the playoffs is inexcusable. Together with the endless sloppy turnovers by guys like Crowder and Horford, we got some serious issues. These guys gotta take a good hard look at themselves.Organization has to do some serious evaluation of both its real talent level and style of play moving forward. Next game will be really telling. This was figuratively a must-win, but next game will be now or never. Home court advantage matters, but wins matter more.
The series isn't over, but this is very disappointing. I agree with others that things will look much different going into next season; I'm just not ready to wait until November to see meaningful games again.

The entire defense focuses on him and nobody else and he has no other firepower beyond himself to make runs. If this series ends up a Boston loss—which I'm now expecting—I don't see how it can't change things. Sure, Boston wasn't winning a title this year, but it was fair to expect a first-round win.
We have one all-star who plays terrible defense, another all-star who shows up only half the time (and is a "big" who can't rebound well), and a bunch of "value contracts" who are showing that their real value isn't all that much. And there's no guarantee Danny hits on either of the Nets picks. These team is what it is—a bunch of regular-season overachievers who can't cut it when it counts.
