Omri Casspi is closing on a deal with the Timberwolves, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
He reportedly is ahead of schedule on his thumb injury and he getting close to his original target date. The Wolves are dying for a combo forward like Casspi with Nemanja Bjelica (ankle) out for the season, and they also lost Lance Stephenson. Casspi would likely get minutes, but he's not a great player to add just yet.

So glad we didn't try to sign him. Who needs another shooter ::) ::) ::) ::)

Ainge knows this team isn't winning the Finals or ECF this season.
Hence his willingness to NOT go after anyone at all (not even minor upgrades).
He's probably fine, like us, settling on a 2nd round appearance while playing with house money and looking at this summer's draft/FA.

Stein says the Celtics were after him as well but he chose the Timberwolves for more playing time:

Boston had also joined the Casspi race, league sources say, but the Wolves are poised to win out after losing Zach LaVine, then Bjelica."
