Ermmmmm...Wow Indians
Cubs fans are gonna drown in their fears if they don't at least force it back to Cleveland.
Impressive stuff by Francona and company.

been doing it all season, glad to see my home city finally getting some national love. they deserve it.

Frankly, the success of the Indians takes the sting out of the Red Sox sweep ( a little).

I struggle to cheer on the Indians for two reasons:
1. They have one of the most blatantly racist team logos in all of professional sports.
2. Indian fans are, by and large, Cavs fans, and I detest Cavs fans.
Despite this, for some reason I find myself wanting to see the Cubs lose. What is wrong with me? Is it that, as a Red Sox fan, I don't want to see another fan base steal the mantle of "team that finally broke the long suffering curse"? How selfish of me.
Yet I can't help feeling that way.
-
I'm not going to do the research , I m not a baseball watcher ....just curious...but I see the Indians have an EX Boston coach . He seems like a pretty good coach....why would Boston let him go ????

You haven't paid attention to Cubs fans recently, have you?
Also, that horsecrap with the "blatantly racist logos" should stop. Last time I checked, a team name/logo, you pick something you view in a positive light. I mean, we can spend a lot of time about whether having a squatting white guy with an angry face is disrespectful toward the original settlers, for example.
-
Eh, I'm not going to crap on either fanbase here. Both fanbases have suffered for quite some time when it comes to baseball. Someone is about to get rewarded for their long wait.
I can only speak about Chicago but the level of pink hat fandom going on right now with the Cubs isn't any worse than what we saw out of Red Sox nation a decade ago. This stuff tends to bring the casual & even non-sports fans out of the woodwork. Civic pride more than anything or the need to fit in with the chaos around you.

What’s wrong with it? What’s wrong with it is that it perpetuates the subjugation of real human beings who still exist. Tuesday night, some 40,000 people in the ballpark and millions more at home will watch a franchise that reduces an entire race of people to a cartoon character.

From Cleveland.com:
Chief Wahoo, the racist logo that represents our city's baseball team, has become its own storyline in the 2016 World Series.
Chief Wahoo and the team's owners deserve every bit of the attention.
National news organization, including The New York Times, ESPN and others, have highlighted the long-standing debate over our red-faced, buck-toothed, hook-nosed mascot that some Native Americans and others complain is the equivalent of a red Sambo.

Here's maybe the best illustration:

Imagine if a German soccer franchise proposed to use as its mascot an exaggerated, cartoonish caricature of a Jewish person. How do you suppose people would react to that?

of getting the gorilla off their back.
-
Yep. But not without some serious heart palpitations first.
IMO there is no greater feeling of terror in sports than watching close playoff baseball games. Especially do-or-die games with 108 years of suffering behind them. Such a brutal sport, things can fall apart so quickly, and there's no clock to bail you out.

I'm from southern Illinois in deep Cardinals territory. My FB feed is blowing up with a bunch of choke posts for the Cubs lol

Cardinals fans **** posting about a team and their division? That doesn't seem like them

I can't believe Cleveland is about finish blowing a 3-1 series lead, with games 6 and 7 at home.
Oh, wait ... it's Cleveland we're talking about.
Can't stand the Cubs. All the national media have been fawning over them for months, and now we're going to have to hear about their "great comeback" and how awesome Kyle freakin' Schwarber is.
-
Wow..
-
Whoaaaaaaah!!!!
Davis with the clutch dinger, holy *****
-
Oh my god.
-
OMG - guess Davis made up for his slight blunder in CF earlier in the game...

The age-old problem of baseball coaches trying to look smart by doing what everyone else would think is a bad idea -- overextending Chapman.

LOL. Can't believe it. I'll chalk that up to the power of reverse psychology. ;D
I was also about to say that I can't believe Andrew Miller gave up a homer to Grampa Ross, but then Chapman returned the favor by giving up one to a journeyman.
-
Wow, Yan Gomes is terrible. Three of the worst swings I've ever seen—and back-to-back-to-back, no less.

Yeah, Ross has got the magic. Glad the Sox got some of it a few years back ;)
And Chapman has been incredible his whole career, especially this year. That .825 WHIP is nuts. What a time for a home run.
This is shaping up to be one of the all-time great WS finishes. So much on the line.

Is there a retractable roof there? Can they postpone the game because of rain ? Lol
-
Figures that the usually reliable Cody Allen, immediately after his team ties the game, issues a leadoff walk to David Ross. ::) My comments about Cleveland choking still have a chance to come true! ;D

Allen isn't looking great

Allen isn't looking great
He's having trouble putting away a guy who's been an awful hitter this season.

On weather.com looks like scattered showers and rain the next few hours. Odds of rain go up by the hour... So a delay might be counterproductive.
And no retractable roof :D
Would be pretty interesting if they did delay this game until tomorrow. Might be a first for a game 7.
-
Oh nice work, Cleveland.
-
Wow
:'( poor cubs fans
It aint right
-
Impressive play by Lindor!
Foolish, foolish bunt attempt by Baez before that.
-
This is it....
Indians will win this one....momentum on their side.
One swing and it might be all over...
Gorilla becomes kong on the back of these Cubs
-
i'm late to the party...anyone got a good stream?
edit: nvm, cant watch it anyways lol, got work to do
-
didn't Chicago had a 3-1 lead during the series?
edit: nvm, I think Cle had the 3-1 lead LOL

A win here is obviously great for either team, but a loss will be a tremendously large silverback on the loser's back.

If this doesn't complete tonight, this could go long when starters take over tomorrow.
-
I take it nobody in Cleveland or Chicago is going to work tomorrow.
-

idk if I am actually rooting for CLE, two chips in the same year and not to mention both teams hasn't really won anything in a few decades...
-
Gotta play it now!
-
this is anticlimactic
-
could it get anymore dramatic????
what a great game 7
-
Series tied 3-3... that's 6. Game tied 6-6... that's 6-6-6 boys. It's a double curse World Series and now it's extra innings and raining. Spirits are intervening.
-
Dang Cubs. Nice work, Shaw.
-
Well, that should just about take care of it. Both teams made plenty of mistakes in this game, but Cleveland has made more.
-
Not a fan of baseball at all, but this game has been really entertaining.
Not sure Cleveland fans deserve this game 7. According to an article I read before the World Series started, they were 28th in MLB attendance this year. Now all of a sudden they're all hardcore Indian fans? Gimme a break.
-
Back during the 2013 World Series they listed an incredible stat where the WS home team had won something like 19 out of 21 of the previous game 6's and game 7's.
Epic collapse if Cleveland drops these last two games.
-
Congrats to the Cubs. Must feel great for their fans.

I don't follow baseball that much. Is theo Epstein some kind of baseball genius or something ?

Youngest GM hired in the history of baseball.
-
The crazy thing is the Cubs have at least 3-5 more good years, if they retain most of their pitching staff, and wait till their young studs hit their prime.
Bryant is a monster, and Rizzo is no joke.
I'm a Mets fan, so I've always seen how dangerous the Cubs can be.

Golden St. blows a 3-1 lead. Cleveland wins.
Cleveland Indians blow a 3-1 lead. Cubs win the World Series.
Full circle. Chicago north side, my adopted home the past 7 years. Go Cubs Go! World champions! Woo-hoo!

I still can't figure out why Tito didn't start Salazar in Game 5 up 3-1. They put Salazar on the post-season roster for a reason and then only used him for an inning in game 2 and two innings in game 6 both outings in relief. Before he got hurt he was a much better pitcher this year than both Bauer and Tomlin (and certainly has had a far better career). And I know he would have been limited to like 60 or 70 pitches, but that should have gotten him to the 4th or 5th inning when they were going to go to Miller anyway. I just don't get why they put Bauer and Tomlin out there on short rest when they had Salazar available with a 3-1 series lead. Start Salazar in game 5 and hope he gets you to Miller. Then you have Bauer fully rested for a possible game 6 with Tomlin available in either Game 6 or Game 7 if need be. And this isn't hindsight, I had many conversations with my co-workers about this while it was happening (I live in the greater Cleveland area). Perhaps the greatest what if scenario of the World Series.
