The theme- could be the last straw for Neely, Julien, Chara, Rask, Krejci
Anything less than making it into the playoffs will be considered a failure
Team finally has a nice mix of youth plus vet this season.

The Bruins are expected to make the playoffs, but that should probably be about it. I think Bruins fans expect more than Celtics fan, when in fact the Celtics will prob have a higher winning %, in my opinion.
The problem for the Bruins players you mentioned is that their defense isn't at an elite defensive level. They need to make an acquisition, or someone on their team needs to get better. Chara needs to step it up for one more run.
I'm certainly no defeatist, but I'm def. more optimistic about the Celtics than the Bruins.

Some good points

My expectations for the Bs are low. Chara seems to have lost a step with age, Rask was inconsistent last season, and the Bruins never seem to have enough true weapons on offense.
The Celtics definitely should go farther than the Bruins.

Playing the Canadiens at home right now.

Still somewhat early, but I've been fairly impressed by the Bruins. Even in the OT Loss yesterday.. they still managed to pick up a point against a fierce Washington team, and as of now are in the playoffs.
You wouldn't see them pull out many points last season (usually blowout losses to great teams).

What the hell is a Bye Week in the NHL? The league knows they have time between games, right?

Not sure but every team has it
Bruins are back and play tonight vs Sharks.
Looked spectacular the last 3 games

Another March Collapse and Rask not playing in a crucial game... ::)
Not Cassidy's fault at all but Sweeney and co. need to GO.

This 4-game skid is unfortunate, though I don't know if that's more on the D, Rask, or the offense. I hope they can turn it around, but I still don't think they're anything more than a second-round team.

Yeah true. It's mostly inconsistency.
I'd call it a combination of all the things as a result.
Besides Marchand and Pasta, no one can really score at will, and so when those two struggle the B's are lucky to get 1 or 2 goals a game.
The defense isn't helping and has always been a weakness, but Rask has also let in a lot of cheap goals lately which aren't helping, especially when they are after the B's score (aka losing momentum as a result).
If I'm not mistaken I think I read somewhere Rask has a .888 save percentage since February 1. That's not really good though part of it is probably because of the lack of help in front of him (abysmal defense).

Bruins may have just shot themselves in the foot... again...
Maple Leafs up 1-0 against Columbus. If result holds, BOS plays WAS first round. :(
Yes, BOS were horrible against both OTT and WAS this season, but WAS is the "cream of the conference", and it would have been better to play Ottawa first round to have any chance.
And Bruins looked bad against WAS yesterday.
Now time to look at those BS losses recently and ponder what could have been.
-
At this point, I think Bruins fans should just be happy that they are making the playoffs. In hockey, anything can happen, but [I agree] we shouldn't exactly be jumping for joy at a Caps match-up.

Yep, an OTT match up would give us a chance.
Against WAS? Nope.
BUT WAIT, Blue Jackets take the lead. 3-2!! Please hold on!!!

10 minutes away from a date with Ottawa First Round.
Please don't blow this Columbus.
Rather take my chances against Ottawa than against the cream of the conference (Washington)
UPDATE: Columbus Win! Bruins play Ottawa first round! Not Washington!

I guess I know less about the NHL playoffs than I realized—how is it that the No. 7 Bruins get the No. 6 Sens in the first round?

Yeah, it is a little confusing. It is still split between EC and WC, but basically if you are one of the top 3 teams in your division, you stay in your division's part of the bracket (either Metro or Atlantic in the EC). There are also 2 wildcard teams, which can come from the same division or one from each of the two divisions and each of those teams play the #1 team in the Metro/Atlantic.
If Toronto had won, that would have knocked the Bruins down to wildcard status, meaning they would have had to play the #1 team in Washington. That luxury now belongs to Toronto as 4th in the Atlantic. The Bruins at #3 now stay in the [much worse] Atlantic part of the bracket. Even though Ottawa is technically #6 in the EC, they are actually #2 in the Atlantic. The poor Rangers who are better than both Boston and Ottawa are actually a wildcard team because of their division.
Here is the bracket:

Yeah, and it also means a Pittsburgh-Columbus first round match up, which seems pretty absurd considering they are two of the top teams in the conference.
This system has quite a few flaws in it, and I also don't blame anyone for getting confused over it (it's confused me many times too LOL).

Wish we could give the Bs one for OT.
Maybe they could call it a Bobby point?

Too bad.....they deserved better.
Lousy way to lose.

Too bad they lost thanks to the refs boneheaded penalty call late.

They were so close to having a 2-0 series lead, or 3-0, or even 2-1. Total bummer that they're down 1-2 and gave back home ice. Here's to hoping for a 2-2 series after the next game!

I think this series is going 7. Which sucks because it will be @OTT

As much as I want the Bruins to win, I think they'd get crushed in the next round anyway.
-
Unfortunately, Krecji is out (really refs.. no penalty on that hit???), and Bruins down 1-0.
This could be it for the B's this season. Unless they fire back the next two periods. :(
-
What a win last night in Double OT.
Refs (who were Canadians, btw) tried to screw us in every single way possible. Didn't work.
Time to force a Game 7 after tomorrow! ;D
-
And that's the end of the season... :'(
Happy for the team regardless to even make it this far considering injuries, coaching changes and what not.
But I swear, these refs were one sided most of this series... >:(
