Came across this on the players tribune. Walker writing a letter to his younger self. Found it pretty fascinating.

I can`t help feeling bad for him but at the same time i want to beat him with a baseball bat ... How can anyone be so irresponsible??

He was less irresponsible with his fame and fortune than Aaron Hernandez.

People get swindled out of money all the time. Doesn't matter how educated, how rich, young/old, etc. It really is terrible. Now some of his choices you can't feel bad about that was all on him, but the bad real estate deals that just sucks and really could happen to just about anyone (I mean look at Bernie Madoff's client list as an example).

Fascinating read indeed. Glad to see that he's not only learned from his mistakes but is "passing it on" and helping others. TP for the read.

Sorry for bumping an old thread but this article is so good.

Nice article. Toine was a lovable player despite his many flaws on and off the court.

Good read now I'm ready to win Saturday's Powerball lottery. ;D

It's crazy how much he blew. Let's assume that 50% of that $108 million went to agents and taxes. He lost enough $20 million in bad investments. That's still $34 million that he blew through. It's unreal that guys can be that unaware.

I'm baffled how these athletes blow money easily. Hell, if I played for the NBA for at least 4 years, I can pretty much say that I am set financially in my lifetime.
