He's releasing 8 videos over 8 days at around 11 am each day (I think) to coincide with the release of 'Mandatory Fun' lol.  Am renaming thread haha.  Next up is his spoof of 'Blurred Lines,' called, 'Word Crimes' ;D

Jack Black twerking was hilarious. I tagged my nephew with this because I caught him wearing sandals with socks the other day. He said it was fine and all the kids are doing it now. I said only touring old Canadians pull that crap off. It went on for a good 15 to 20 mins back and forth, and then threw out the next day.

Now I have proof its not cool because Weird Al say's so, and what Weird Al says goes!

But to be fare, my nephew is on fourth Canadian, just int he genes man!

Can't wait for these. Love his video's. Being a Geeky guy, White and Nerd was one of my favorite video's/songs. Fat was amazing. Smells Like Nirvana, Eat It, The Saga Begins, etc. Good stuff!

Yeah, I've actually seen ads for guys to wear the classic out-of-place-albino Englishman look of black socks with sandals ::)  That should really tell you all you need to know about the fashion industry lol.  TP for the old Canadians line btw.

I got the dvd of his music videos a long time ago and I was in heaven instantly lol.  I agree, Eat It, god, for the dancing alone he destroyed Michael Jackson ;D  Amish Paradise, UHF, Spy Hard, Fat, Smells like Nirvana, All About the Pentiums, White and Nerdy with Donny Osmond Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline., Headline News, etc.  There are so many lol.  God I love him :)

He just absolutely nails it.  Every single time.  Morons who can't stop taking pictures of their food?  Check?  His trademark stare/look to open with?  Check.  Twerking?  I don't even know where to begin on that one.  That line about taking selfies with the deceased was GOLD! ;D  I must say that I'm a millennial, but I don't understand any of this crap.   Eh, whatever the kids are listening to these days ::)

And of course, an album of his wouldn't be complete without mentioning coupons Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline..  He did that in Whatever You Like ;D  "we can clip coupons all night and baby you can have whatever you like," ahahaha.  "Hey girl, our economy's in the toilet, but I'm still gonna treat you right," ;D  Epic.

Weird Al CDs used to only rival my barenaked ladies live cd for plays on my incredibly touchy don't boom box. Until I discovered rap music anyways.

Amish Paradise will always be my favorite.

Sidebar: Is Nerdist Industries just becoming the new google or what? Is Chris Hardwick the new Steve Jobs?

They've got a pretty impressive stable of talent, spanning from TV to comics to authors to podcasts..all with a very defined 'bent' but they really have just carved out a niche market they cornered.

Man, that guy sounds like an obnoxious prick.  At least the class is over, though, right?  I think that, upon a quick glance at the YouTube comments, which is never a good idea unless you want to see Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.s arguing about everything that doesn't matter, insulting people, and blaming Obama for everything that doesn't matter ::) , one of the first ones said that teachers should use this when teaching grammar, and I wholeheartedly agree ;D  Who knows, maybe we'll be able to wean the kids off of this crap in no time with such a strategy haha.  Tuh, Robin Thicke.  What a moron.  Did you see his record-breaking album sales last week I believe?  He sold a whopping 54 - in a week.  In Australia hahaha.  I think cracked.com has a piece about how he is the new vanilla ice lol.

Yeah, in the beginning of the semester, It kinda sucked. But I figured him out pretty well. What was cool was that it's an art school, and I was dabbling in video game designs. Our final assignment was we had to take a visual entertainment and write about it. We had to propose what we wanted to write, so I had just gotten Batman Arkham Origins. He okayed it, and after I sent my paper in, he said he usually doesn't like video game reviews, but he really liked mine, so much so that he's using it for other students that want to do video reviews as a final as a reference.

So While he was a bit of a pretentious @$$, I must have gotten some thing out of his class. I know I still make mistakes, but I'm more conscious of them.

It was also awesome that I could take over the TV from my wife and play the game and say that I was doing class work! LOL

I think it's great. A nice break from Basketball banter that lightens the mood. Weird Al always pics music, that maybe not always great, have a good beat when you put, dare I say, better lyrics to them are fun to listen to.

Okay, good.  I just didn't want to be annoying.  These parodies are on the Eat It and Nirvana levels, imho.  He's never made a bad album, and I especially enjoyed party in the cia ;D from Alpocalypse, but I felt that the videos were lacking a bit.  This, though?  This is a MASTERPIECE!

Ahahaha, sounds awesome man!  I read a bit of his interview with NPR, and I think he said that this might be the best album of his career.  Would you agree?  With his track record, I couldn't believe that he said such a thing, and I didn't want to be let down by high expectations, but this has been phenomenal!

Yeah I could see that. It's really solid CD and he hasn't lost anything. I loved the last album, I'd have to listen to it again to compare. I'd say at least top 3 at the worst.

Oh my god that is awesome. I never knew a Weird Al song could be comically dark. You need that kind of melancholy beat from Royals. But wow. So wow.

Clearly you need to listen to more Weird Al:

Weird Al's enduring success in pop music has got to one of the most incredible stories in rock and roll history.  Weird Al's first hit songs came out in the early 80s, besides maybe U2, can you think of any other artist that was around in that era that is still relevant?

*edit* and by relevant I mean have a song that could get some love on top 40 radio.

Thanks!  I'd almost forgotten to search for this clip.  TP.

That episode was the last straw for me, used to be a massive fan of the simpsons since Tracy Ullman days. Weird Al ages like a good wine though  :)

Just got done listing to the cd. AWESOME!!!!! ;D

Jackson Park Express is probably the best love song EVER!!! LOL! I had to stop drawing a couple times because I was laughing! I might ever try some of the lines on my wife to see where it gets me!  ;)

I agree.  These videos are on the Eat It level, especially Handy.  Omfg I cannot get enough of that one, haha.  If there was one song that he parodied that I wish he'd made a video for, it would have to be couch potato.  That was incredible.

Absolutely, TP!  You know you've made it in the music industry when Al spoofs one of your songs; and to anyone who says that his isn't 'real music,' they're 1000% correct - it's more than just music.  It's ART!

One of these years Weird Al needs to be chosen to play the halftime of the super bowl.  Imagine what he could do with that kind of budget.

I'm just glad that they got someone younger to do the halftime show this past year, because the whole thing had started to look like karaoke night at the senior center ;D

Weird Al's record debuted at #1 this week, his first #1 record in over 30 years in the biz.  I think we are finally seeing the hope and change that Obama spoke of in 2008.

LOL! I Think our culture is making a turn, and in my opinion for the better. I've always beena  little geeky, but shied away from it, trying to be the jock and the cool kid. It wasn't cool to be into comics and stuff.

But then I made friends that were complete nerd/geeks at work and came out of my shell. Now I really don't give a crap if you think I'm lame because I read and draw comics. I love doing Cons and checking out the cool costumes that people put together.

So now 15 years removed from that point your seeing Movies about comic books breaking box office records, and TV shows like Arrown and Agents Of Sheild, and next this fall we'll have Flash, Gotham, Constantine, and Daredevil on Netflix. It's becoming pop culture and while not quite cool yet, being excepted.

Weird Al has been pioneering geek culture for years, even inspired the Nerd Core peeps. Now he's getting his recognition. And about freaking time!

New CD is good, I mean really good. Funny I hate the songs he did parodies for on this CD, but I do like the beats, and his lyrics make the SOOOOOO much better!

I think it says much more about how few records you have to sell to make it to the top of the charts nowadays. I mean, The Melvins cracked the top 200 after being a band for over 24 years, but that doesn't equate to more people listening to the Melvins, unfortunately.

Well, he was the valedictorian of his high school, so there's that.  TP for coming out of your shell, btw.  I must say that I have never found comic books and superheroes interesting, as they just don't do anything for me, but to each his own.  The most amazing thing about such films is how popular they've become.  Among adults ;D  I always thought a movie about transformers or superman was more geared toward the 8-9 year olds.

Anyway, I almost forgot to post this, so enjoy! ;D

It's weird what is accepted and what isn't when you're growing up.  When I was junior high age a handful of the cool kids were into comics, so there was no stigma attached to it.  This was the early/mid 90s when comic collecting was a lot bigger than it is now, so maybe that made a difference.

Agreed.  The people I really hate are the 'hot' girls who always looked down on nerds and geeks who are now not only dressing as such, but also trying to claim that they were geeky.  What a bunch of shallow Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.s.  I can't stand such let's call them people for the sake of argument ;D
