Moser has made a quality first impression, separating himself from some of his roster competition during four days of practice leading up to Saturday's summer league opener, then logging a bench-high 24 minutes, 33 seconds of floor time while putting up 17 points (on 6-of-11 shooting) with 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and a block in Boston's 85-77 triumph over the Miami Heat.
The 6-foot-8, 251-pound forward has made a fast impression. On the second day of camp, Pacers assistant coach Dan Burke (who is running the camp and coaching the team’s Summer League entry in Orlando) was asked which players had stood out to him so far. Jones’ name was the first (and only) one he mentioned.“
“Kevin, he’s got ability to use his body, create angles,” Burke said on Wednesday. “He runs the floor, he shoots the mid-range jumper. He’s a great rebounder…He’s that one that’s really jumped out for me.
KO needs to work on post moves.
KO's hair. :(

And boxing out
Lol, agreed.KO's hair. :(
Clearly he doesn't read celticsblog, or he'd know that his new look set the fanbase aflame with KO fever. I was hoping he'd leave the headband behind for good!
Is anyone else slightly disappointed that Vitor isn't playing summer league? Did he play last year? Since he's our only signed C other than Anthony, I'd like to get a look at what kind of playing shape he's in.

Knee injury he may still be recovering from.
good game so far for olynk, mooser, smart, and overall. is indy that bad? they look lost
Isiah has come off to me as sensible, sane, and rational so far. Maybe there's something wrong with me today.
Needs more Marcus Smart.

I came here to post exactly the same thing.
I still don't understand how Isiah was such a disaster as a GM. Also "I would've loved to play Michael Jordan."

benched with 3 fouls.
I would still rather watch good park basketball than the Summer League.

Is he really doing a summer league game broadcast?
He was a terrible GM, but he is built for TV analyst work

He's actually pretty great. Very entertaining and insightful so far.He might be sedated, but I think if anything it enhances his pontificating.

I don't see Smart playing full time pg in the NBA.
Bertans can't shoot.
What are they shooting this quarter? 12%??
Hard not to love Smart's defensive effort. I fear he may be a causality in a Kevin Love trade. I really hope we can keep him.
Olynyk needs to bring back the ponytail. Without it he's powerless today.
not to worry. i have been assured by cb posters that olly will put up 20/10 on a consistent basis. he will heat up in the rest of the game, i am sure.Olynyk needs to bring back the ponytail. Without it he's powerless today.
Translation: Olynyk is the next (Ralph) Sam(p)son.
Sweet Wilie Reed beating the Celtics by himself...He is not the only one, Chris Johnson is getting blocked alot of times too..
Smart looks like garbage out there, drive to rim blocked, repeat, repeat....

LOL @ people who still think we'll trade for Love. Let me translate: "Celtics still looking for creative ways to trade for Love" = "Celtics are throwing crackpot offers at the Wolves hoping one will stick".
Love is not coming here this season. Smart is not going anywhere. You better believe it :P
That Olynyk airball was sad... :-[
It's an absolute joke that 3 players in our starting line up, played significant time for us last year and are getting murdered right nowthe celtics were terrible last year. why does the current situation surprise you? this is what bad teams do, they lose.

To people who haven't made an NBA team?
Olynyk needs to bring back the ponytail. Without it he's powerless today.
Anyone else pressey getting so much time isn't helping smart? And Young needs to quit being a sissy?
Somebody tell these guys tanking doesn't count in the summer league.you know what they say, practice makes perfect.
say what you will about Smart's Rondo-esque shooting ability. I still think he's going to be a stud defender off the bench, a good long-term contributor with starter potential... and I refuse to believe that we would have been better off accidentally making the playoffs with a sub-500 record, getting swept by the Pacers in 4 games... and getting stuck with someone like Adriene Payne with the #15 pick. Smart should be a much better asset heading forward. We need all the assets we can get.

Rondo is a better shooter than Smart.
does anyone actually care if bos wins the summer league games? speaking for myself, i could careless if they win....i just want to see how the guys do that are on the team+1
It's one summer league game. What did I learn? That I'd like to strangle Isiah Thomas.
It's one summer league game. What did I learn? That I'd like to strangle Isiah Thomas. He made some ridiculous comments in a game I was watching during the first day of summer league.
Ugh, watching Gordon and Payton on the Magic summer team really frustrates me. Payton has that burst and when Gordon skies for a rebound it's HIS rebound. I wish we could have gotten one or both of these guys...
Ouch.Somebody tell these guys tanking doesn't count in the summer league.Haha TP!
Summer League is a good preparation for the next season, might aswell teach the young guns the losing mentality now ::) #Tank2014/15

Why? I'm satisfied with Smart and Young and I like Gordon.

Because speed/athleticism = higher ceiling.
And.. Gordon just made a jumper.
Anyone who thinks Smart is doomed for his bad shooting % these last few days should take a look at MCW's box score from last year.

Honestly though his shot will come along. As long as he plays hard defense he'll get minutes and improve game by game this year.

Seriously is not the end of the world. Smart is an excellent player is own right. Just because he had a bad game. Doesn't mean he should be condemned.
Did anyone watch the full broadcast of the game? Someone on twitter mentioned that Isiah told a story about how he was talking to Larry Bird today and Bird ignored Ainge when he walked by.
Wondering if anyone has a better recounting of what Isiah said.

It was brought up in reference to Lance Stephenson, and whoever Isiah's cohost was said Ainge was making a run at LS, then Thomas said "I was talking to Bird before the game, and Danny Ainge walked by and they didn't say a word to each other"

Aaron Gordon has length which smart doesn't. I like smart but really wanted Gordon only because it would quickly move sleepy mcgee aka Jeff green out the door. That said I think smart will be just as if not more valuable to us.
Thanks Guys. Makes sense.Did anyone watch the full broadcast of the game? Someone on twitter mentioned that Isiah told a story about how he was talking to Larry Bird today and Bird ignored Ainge when he walked by.

They came back from commercial to a Stephenson clip package and the announcer said ESPN reported the Celtics "have an interest" in Stephenson. Thomas joked that well he was talking to Larry before the game and Ainge walked past and he "noticed they didn't speak to each other. Now I know why," after which both Thomas and the announcer had a good laugh. Thomas went on to joke that "All is fair in love and war, and this is war."
Then the cameraman got a shot of both Ainge and Bird in the stands and the announcer said they were sitting 15-20 feet apart, then wondered "How many secrets are in this room right now in terms of negotiations and discussions." Thomas then said "everybody's plotting to get each other's players."
They were clearly joking but if the report is true you would think maybe there is some awkwardness there between both GMs during this particular free agent period. I'm sure they're used to it though since both are long time GMs who probably see each other around all the time.
Thomas went on to joke that "All is fair in love and war, and this is war."
Smart and Pressey = potential disaster result when you play Rondo and Smart together also
The pacers just dared both Pressey and Smart to shoot and they couldn't buy a bucket all night.

Rondo is way way way better than Phil Pressey. He can still make things happen.
QuoteThe pacers just dared both Pressey and Smart to shoot and they couldn't buy a bucket all night.
I thought that big of theirs, Reed killed us. Iverson and Olynyk and our bigs were destroyed. That had just as much if not more than the not shooting. They imposed their will on us down low with a power game.
Many shots fell short and I think the lads were tired.
About us having an edge. Sloan played like 40 NBA games last year for Indy. Pressey had more games played as did Olynyk. Johnson and Babb played some too due to the tankage but they look like they belong in Summer League and D league the first too games. Moser came back to earth. The Anosuke kid was horrible.
Marcus and Pressey are not reliable shooters.
Add in his subpar DI think his ball pressure was good on the guys bringing the ball up the court, he is just too short to challenge shots on opposing guys.
What I saw today....Pressey still can't shoot. KO still can't guard anyone. And he totally sucked offensively, almost from the beginning. That doesn't bother me. Getting abused defensively by D League talent does. Smart I wouldn't be concerned about right now. It's obvious his shooting technique needs work and I wasn't impressed by him playing the 1, but he's just starting out.Well Moser hit a few shots but that's it. I couldn't believe how bad KO looked. Missing wide open shots, evn close in, terrible defense on Willie Reed, turned the ball over, bad switching on defense...
No one else who played did anything of note.
Pressy is a good kid who tries hard, but he sucks. I hope he gets cut this year. Besides KO Smart, and Young, who we are keeping regardless of their play in these games, the only player on this summer league roster who I would possibly consider keeping is Moser. Everyone else sucks badly.I wouldn't say he sucks. He's a decent NBA caliber PG who is undersized and unfortunately can't shoot. His shooting is what's going to determine whether he stays in the league long term. I can see him as one of those guys who bounces around the league, makes the veteran minimum and has to fight for his spot each year. Right now whether he sticks with the Celtics or not is probably not in his hands. It depends on what the rest of the roster's going to look like and how ready Smart and Young are ready to be part of a rotation - assuming of course that both are still here on opening night. ;)
