Game Notes
With their 9 game losing streak finally over, the Celtics visit the Cleveland Cavaliers looking for a 2 game win streak.  Both teams are playing in the second of back to back games and both teams had to travel with the Cavs playing in Milwaukee the night before.

Both of these teams are lottery teams with the Cavs 10th in the East, 3.5 games out of the playoffs.  With a Celtics win over the Bobcats and the Orlando loss, the Celtics are tied with the Jazz for the 4th spot for the Lottery, one game behind the Magic, who are now in 3rd.

The Celtics are 8-31 on the road while the Cavs are 18-21 at home.  This is the 3rd and final meeting between these two teams this season.  The Celtics have won both of their previous meetings and will be going for a sweep of the series.

Rajon Rondo will miss his second straight game after being a late scratch before Friday's win over the Charlotte Bobcats. I would expect Pressey to start once again in his place.   Both Jared Sullinger and Jerryd Bayless suffered injuries in Friday's game. Sully returned in the fourth quarter, but his ankle was swollen after the game. Bayless remained in Boston for an MRI and did not accompany the team to Cleveland.

Kris Humphries will be a game time decision.  If Humphries can't go, the Celtics will have just 8 healthy bodies for this one.  Humphries returned after a 2 game absence for the Bobcats game and played well but may not be ready for back to back games.  If Hump can't play, either Kelly Olynyk or Joel Anthony will more than likely be moved to the starting lineup.

Key Matchups
(http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b58/FLCeltsFan12/Pressey_zpsef40fea4.jpg)vs(http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.e1d/img/4.0/global/basketball/nba/players/4840.jpg)
Phil Pressey vs Kyrie Irving
Irving has been a thorn in the Celtics side since he came into the league. He is averaging 21.1 points, 6.2 assists, and 3.7 rebounds. If Pressey can play as well as he did against the Bobcats, he could give the Celtics a chance in this one.

/4247.jpg)vs(http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.e1d/img/4.0/global/basketball/nba/players/3824.jpg)
Jeff Green vs Luol Deng
The Celtics are used to seeing Deng on the Bulls and this will be the first time the Celtics face him on the Cavs.  Deng is long and will give Green problems on both ends of the court.  Deng is averaging 16.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game.

Keys to the game

Move the Ball and Run - The Celtics play best when they play uptempo and move the ball. They need to beat the defense down the court before it gets set up. When they slow the ball down and when they over dribble, they struggle to score. Phil Pressey did a great job of this against the Bobcats and hopefully, if Rondo plays in this one he was paying attention and does the same.

Play 48 Minutes  - The Celtics finally put together a whole game against the Bobcats.  They did let the Bobcats come back from a 13 point hole, but they didn't fall apart and were able to get the win.  They have to put together a full game in this one also.

Defense - The Cavs have several players capable of putting up big offensive games.  The Celtics must play tough team defense to keep the Cavs from getting to the basket and from having big games beyond the arc.

Rebound - The Celtics need to rebound as a team. It takes effort and desire to grab rebounds and the Celtics need to show more of both. In their first meeting, the Celtics allowed the Cavs to grab 13 offensive rebounds which led to a 16-7 edge in second chance points for the Cavs.

Be Aggressive -  The Celtics have to be the more aggressive team on both ends of the court.  They have to be aggressive in going after loose balls and rebounds and in getting to the basket.  They have to be more aggressive on defense and out-hustle the Cavs from start to finish.

X-Factors

Focus on the Road and Pride
The Celtics have struggled on the road this season.  Can they keep their focus throughout the game and get a win on the road?  They played for pride against the Bobcats.  Can that be enough motivation for two wins in a row?

I'm just so thankful we actually pulled out a win last might, and Phil Pressey played like he'd been reading my BOLD PREDICTIONS. Anyway. Dog tonight I'm calling a 40 porog game from Brandon Bass,  and double doubles for Phil Pressey and Chris Johnson.

I predicted in one thread we'd win the last four .

All these eastern teams suck eggs.

They maybe in play offs ....but they are not even close to being playoff quality of western con.

They are not use to winning . Have non winning tradition ......

I conceded winning last four .....just don t understand importance of winning  last four games ....meaning more than draft position.

If we win this one, we'll probably finish the season with a 4 game win streak.  Next is a gimme vs Philly.  Last is the Wizards, but they'll probably be resting players for the playoffs.

So we'll finish the season with 27 wins.  If Utah, LA and Sac lose out, we'll be tied with Sac ... potentially end up 7th in the tank rank.  Potentially end up with the 10th pick.

But whatever.  If we win, we win.  Nothing we can do about that now... Rajon Rondo isn't walking through that door.

Land a stud in the draft,  trade Green + Bass + picks for an upgrade, keep Rondo.

I figure we'll pick 6th in the draft.  Should get a player there.  Oly and SUlly seem to have some future.

But for 2 months he's averaged 20 minutes and he's shooting like 55%/45%/80% while averaging about 10 points per game.  He's been on fire.

So angry with what is going on and this team winning games. Have to say it is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. Basically taking themselves out of the running for the top pick.

I had a very strong belief that this weekend was going to turn out this way.  We'd been close too many times.   It's been a very difficult year and I have been pining for the chance to grab one of the top players -- and at the very minimum stay in front of the Lakers for the pick.  After tonight we'll be right back with LA with a game against the worst team in the league coming up.  Utah/LA on Monday -- I guess one will have to get a win.

Bummer -- just two days after it seemed like #3 or #4 was in hand. I'm done till lottery night.

We did our part though everybody with any kind ailment is shutdown. I can't help but be a little disgusted though that a top 3 pick was likely a couple nights ago, but NOW all of a sudden Green and Bass want to show out in some meaningless games. Basically we are putting water to any "fireworks" we were looking to light up over the summer. >:( ::)

Cavs have some interesting pieces -- Kyrie, Varrejao, Zeller, Jack --   But just playing with no heart at all.

That's Mike Brown for you.
The worse is standing on the sideline laughing while his teams down by 25

Silver lining here: Boost in trade value for a few guys.

How would this game give anyone a boost in trade value?  Somehow I don't a lot of GM's are looking at a game where one team didn't make any effort at all and thinking it moves the needle on anyone.

Yeah, 10 min ago I was complaining about the Cavs not even trying, then the cut the lead in 1/2 in about 5 min.  No lead is safe with us.

It's a cumulative effect over the course of the final games. Pressey and Olynyk are worth more now than a week ago.

So angry with what is going on and this team winning games. Have to say it is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. Basically taking themselves out of the running for the top pick.

Take a look at Cleveland.  How many lottery picks are on their roster?  How much talent do they have on paper?  Or Sacramento.  That's what chasing fool's gold in the lottery will get you.

Pressey's done a really good job these couple of games, but lets not get ahead of ourselves..the Cavs defense tonight was some of the worst I've seen all yr  ;D More so than anything I think Pressey has played himself into a contract over the summer.

10th pick still in play.

We'll win against Philly.   Final game vs Wizards VERY winnable.

When the Lakers lose tomorrow we'll be tied for 6th in the Tank rank.  We can still catch the Kings if they lose the rest.

Think rondo will change his style of play next game?

Hope not.  As Simmons points out, he's been our best tanking asset this year.  We've won 20% of the games he's played.

I was at the game at the Garden Friday and during pre-game warm-ups I was watching Klynyk work on that one-footed, high arcing, Dirk Nowitzki fade away.  It looked a little silly in practice, but it was awesome to see him pull it out of his bag of tricks tonight and swish.

It was a bummer that he turned into a pumpkin just after he hit the 30 minutes played mark.

If we don't get a top 3 pick, Ainge has to trade it for a proven veteran.

looking more and more like we could have blown the season.  Didn't play to win, and didn't play to get a great draft pick. WELCOME TO NBA HELL!

Not sure what some are so upset about. The Celtics followed the tank plan to perfection tonight. They didn't play arguably their three best players in Rondo, Sully and Humphries. They played rookies and D League players big minutes and developed the youth.

Isn't that what good tanking teams do?

They won because over the last 5 games they may have had the best all around team shooting streak of the season. Just another game with high percentages of made shots from the field line and three. Do that and you are going to win some games. Can't stop players from shooting well. You can't instruct players to purposely miss shots.

The C's did everything that teams that are tanking are supposed to do. They won because their youth and D Leaguers played and shot very well and Cleveland no showed. It happens. Can't really be upset about that.

The way we are blowing our once great draft position, we had better pray we get lucky with the ping pong balls now that the odds are moving against us.

It is understood our chances are increased by our order of finish. law of averages. now they are decreasing.

And yet you still need luck to win.

Also, 6 games ago(8 games left in the season and a really easy schedule) most were figuring on 3 wins given the schedule. Two wins over a dreadful Philly team and one more just because some team that they were playing might just no show.

With two games left it appears 3 wins are going to be exactly where they were predicted by many to end up. Just because we lost the first four of those games, people shouldn't have fooled themselves into thinking a top 3 slot was possible. Except for the Washington game and the last few minutes of the Atlanta game, this team has been playing very well. Some wins should have been expected.

If tankers thought the team was going to lose all 8 games of a ridiculously easy schedule when the team was playing well, then you guys were just deluding yourselves.

Me, I expect the C's to win one more game.
