Game Notes

The Celtics host the Golden State Warriors for their second and final meeting this season.  The Celtics will be looking to avenge a 2 point loss earlier this season when Stephen Curry hit a jumper with 2.1 seconds left to win the game for the Warriors.

Much has changed since that game.  The Celtics now have Rajon Rondo back and the Celtics former starting point guard, Jordan Crawford,  is now coming off the Warriors bench.  The Celtics will also be missing their defensive stopper Avery Bradley. The Warriors have also added Steve Blake to their bench.

The Celtics have had 2 days off and are finally getting healthier.  Kelly Olynyk practiced on Tuesday and may be back in the rotation for this game.  The Warriors are playing in the second of back to back games as well as at the end of a 6 game road trip.

The Celtics are 12-18 at home while the Warriors are 18-14 on the road.  The Warriors have lost their last 5 games in Boston and have not won a season series against the Celtics since the 2006-07 season.  The Celtics are coming off a loss to the Pacers while the Warriors are coming off a 2 point win over the Pacers.

Key Matchups
(http://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/media/act_rajon_rondo.jpg)vs(http://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/media/act_stephen_curry.jpg)
Rajon Rondo vs Stephen Curry
This should be a fun matchup between two top point guards in the league.  Curry is averaging 24.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 8.8 assists and 1.6 steals a game.

Brandon Bass vs David Lee
Lee is averaging 18.8 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. He's a blue collar player who plays hard all the time. Brandon will need to play defense as well as to make Lee work on the other end of the court.

Keys to the Game
Defense - The Warriors can put up points quickly and in bunches. It will be important for the Celtics to bring their defensive intensity into this game, especially to shut down the Warriors' fast breaks. The Celtics must especially guard the perimeter as the Warriors are very dangerous beyond the arc.

Rebound - The Celtics need to crash the boards to keep the Warriors from igniting their fast breaks. The Celtics also need to rebound to give themselves second chance points and limit the second chance points for the Warriors.

Take Care of the Ball
- The Warriors can be very disruptive by getting into the passing lanes. The Celtics seem to go through periods in every game where they turn over the ball several times in a row. The Celtics need to stay focused and not give the Warriors any easy opportunities to steal the ball or to get out on the break.

Be Aggressive - The Celtics need to come out focused and play hard from start to finish. The Celtics have to be the more aggressive team throughout the game. They must be aggressive on defense, on the boards, in chasing down loose balls, and in taking the ball to the hoop and not settling for jumpers. Their effort was good vs the Clippers and they need to once again bring effort to this game.

X-Factors
Revenge and Fatigue
The Celtics will be looking to avenge that last second loss out in Oakland.  Will that be enough to give them an edge
The Warriors are playing in back to back games and they are at the tail end of a 6 game road trip.  Will fatigue be a factor?

Ah, well so many injuries, this BOLD PREDICTION business is really getting tough. Anyway, Kris Humphries goes off on the Warriors gets 30 and 15, Bayless matches Steph Curry for made 3s and Phil Pressey gets 30 minutes game time.

I know there's a long way to go but let's be real this is a classic example of a playoff team playing a bottom feeder... and there's people who hope we can make the playoffs in our bottom feeder conference. Why would you ever want to watch 4 straight games of this?

It's not as bad as you think. 'Neal's corpse has actually been giving GS production recently. Maybe he was reanimated.

I was just getting ready to comment on that. I think the few mins he has had, his defense has been solid. I don't know why we don't give him all of Wallace's minutes for now just to see how it goes. If he can't cut it don't keep him.

best positive I've got is that Rondo is passing up scoring opportunities for theatrical attempts at assists. If he decided to score, I think 4 of his 5 turnovers could have been points.

the celtics are not terrible tonight, simply mediocre for a poor team. add that GS is a very good team having a good game and....

well, you get the game tonight. hard to watch. i hope stevens lets the kids play lots of minutes in the second half.

best positive I've got is that Rondo is passing up scoring opportunities for theatrical attempts at assists. If he decided to score, I think 4 of his 5 turnovers could have been points.

The Celtics lost, but it still hurts to see that the Pistons, Bucks and Magic will all lose and the Nets will win.  That is bad for our overall pick standings

Yeah I mean we'll beat the Sixers I'm guessing... they're even more d-league than us.

We were all tricked by this team being close to .500 in the beginning of the year and the 4th seed (lol!). I thought they were closer to contention and actually jumped off the tank wagon for awhile...

But alas, we're garbage... I should have known when the Bucks beat us twice. We split the season series against a 12 win team

I've realized that I basically just like basketball, so I can suck up a season like this with all the future assets we've got to rebuild with.

probably be this way next year as well. we will have to develop our draftees. all part of the long term plan.

We won't be great next year, but we'd better be more competitive than this.  At least a playoff contender if not a playoff team.

Unless DA swings a KG like deal, we probably won't be great next year either. But hey i'll be happy watching Parker or Embiid out there next year. Though we need to make a real jump in 15-16 or we can kiss Rondo goodbye

I missed the game tonight.  But based on all these comments it doesn't sound like I missed anything worth watching.  Did we even put up a fight?  Looks like Babb got some minutes.  But what is RR doing playing 37 minutes in a blow out?

WHAT A BUNCH OF PANSIES!!!  NO, NOT THE TEAM, THE POSTERS ON THIS FORUM!!!

You all knew what was coming with the passing of Pierce and Garnett.  you can't come in here every game day and pray for the team to tank and then complain about how bad they play. you just can't have it both ways. go cram another beer down your throat or better yet pour it on your computer!!!
