Brandon Bass vs LaMarcus Aldridge
Aldridge is averaging 23.7 points, 10.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. He scored 36 points in his last game. The Celtics will need to try to keep him out of the paint and off the boards.

Game Notes

The Celtics visit the Trailblazers for their second and final meeting this season.  The Blazers won their first matchup 109-96 in Boston. The Celtics had a 9 game win streak vs the Blazers prior to that loss.

The Celtics are playing in the second of back to back games and in the final game of their 5 game western road trip. It has been a rough trip and doesn't get any easier with this game as the Blazers are very tough at home, losing only 4 games there this season.

Keys to the Game
Be Aggressive - The Celtics need to be the more aggressive team.  They need to be aggressive in going for loose balls, rebounds, steals, in going to the basket,  and on defense.

Run!- The Celtics need to run from start to finish. They can get easier shots by getting up the court before the defenses set up. They can't lapse into walking the ball up the court. They have to run, run, and run some more.  This is easier said than done when it's the last game of a grueling 5 game trip.

Get into the Paint- Good things happen when the Celtics get into the paint and go to the basket. They must take the ball to the hoop and not settle for jumpers, especially if they aren't falling.

Rebound- The Celtics must crash the boards to give themselves a chance to win. Rebounding takes effort and when the Celtics put forth effort on the boards it tends to spread to the other areas of their game.

X-Factors

Fatigue and Focus
The Celtics are playing in the second of back to back games and on the final game of a very tough road trip.  They will be tired more than ready to be home again and it will take extra focus to give their best effort in this game.

Bold Predictions. Sullinger makes Aldridge look normal, Bradley gets 5 steals, 5 blocks and 5 rebounds, Wallace hits a few more 3s

Celtics played great last night and I enjoyed the game a lot ...wish they could, have pulled off the win.

I expect them to go down losing again .

Stevens is doing an amazing job. Keeping their heads up and putting on a good show .......they sure didn't look like a tanking team last night against the warriors.

Win or lose, I want to see the same effort tonight (and every night, for that matter).  If they keep playing with the kind of energy they played with last night, eventually they'll start to win some of these games.

Unfortunately, it may not be tonight.

There are major distractions preventing me from devoting due attention to this game. This is not an excuse for the young leprecahns to slack off from their bi-coastal duties. If the Celtics continue to play hard like they did the last two games it will help them down the road when Rondo returns. I like what is happening here, Celtics record be [dang]ed.

Nah, you can't hate Jeff Green, life is bigger than basketball. He may not live up to high expectations, but he's a true Celtic and a special player. He's going to win us a lot of games playing alongside Rondo and hopefully an All Star Center.

Go Celtics!

I think the following matchups are fun ones which could go either way:

- Green vs Batum
- Crawford vs Matthews
- Bradley vs Lillard (depends on whether Bradley is hot)

Sadly I think the Bass vs Aldridge matchup is a horrible one for us, and if we stick with it a 6'7" Bass is going to get destroyed by LMA.

I think we'll have amuch better chance if we put Humphreys on Aldridge - Hump is taller than Bass, he has the strength of an ox (and is not afraid to use it) and has been a decent shot blocker this season.  Aldridge is more of a finesse bit, so putting a tough, scrappy guy like Hump on him could go in our favour.

Bass could then be switched on to Lopez which would probably work ok.  Even though Lopez has size on Bass, he's not especially athletic and not the most skilled big offensively, so Bass could probably handle him somewhat.  Plus Lopez would probably have trouble running out to defend Bass' jumper.

I think the keys to winning this game will be:
1. The Bradley / Lillard matchup
2. Who Stevens puts on LMA

If Bradley has a good game and can slow Lillard down defensively, and if Humphrey's plays Aldridge (and challenges him with physicality) then we have a chance to win.  If not, we probably lose.

C's just take turns letting different players try to score each possession rather than actually moving the ball.

It's what happens when Crawford is running your half court offense.

Bayless wasn't THAT much better. Perhaps a bit luckier.

I really wanna see how this team looks offensively with Rondo. It's hard to really judge a lot of our guys with the current PG they are playing with, I mean I would be discouraged too if Crawford was my floor general.

yes, but honestly who else could be there at this point? bayliss is still really new to the celtic plays. pressey simply cannot shoot. after that...no one.

i dont mind crawford being in the game. i just object to his craptastic heave selection. no offensive flow for the team. just chucking up low percentage shots.

I think WIggins still goes 1st.  Better 2-way player.  Sometimes tough to judge College players depending on the system.  He'll be a major star.

Sometimes a coach has to bench a guy to get his attention. Crawford can be ok but has been wild for a few weeks now. Maybe a good 4th quarter benching is what he needs. What would it hurt? It's not like the Celtics are winning these games.

Craw hasn't lost us games on his own, can't fully pin it on one guy... but I will go as far as saying that for weeks now his shot selection and the way he makes the offense stall has made it hard for us to win. I'm not looking for a scapegoat because I'm not happy with a few people over this losing streak but Crawford has made some of the most boneheaded mistakes a person can. He looks totally different from early season. I still think it's b/c he knows his days are numbered once RR returns, it's like he's saying "I better get mine while I can, I want someone to pick me up!"

It's ticking me off that of everyone, Craw has been the only guy CBS seems afraid to pull when needed. He's sat any and everyone except Craw. I'll say it again, our offense has flowed so much better with Bayless and AB together and that's with Bayless not getting any practice.

I'm not turning on Crawford, I just want less of him. I would be happy if we kept him as a 15-20min at most spark off the bench. I also wouldn't be surprised if he is shipped out next.

We are already losing, who is it going to hurt by putting Bayless as the starting PG a couple games and see what happens. I don't mean just start him, give him the majority of the minutes with AB. Then put Craw in and tell him now is his turn to go for his.

I don't think anyone on this roster is playing as hard as they were two weeks ago.

I also really hope we don't come close to breaking our 18 loss streak this year.

Season reminds me a lot of Pitino's first year.  We started out strong.  Lots of excitement.  Players were running HARD.  Full-court traps on every possession.  We beat Jordan's defending champion Bulls on opening night.  Then eventually the lack of talent wore thin, the players stopped listening and they puttered along to mediocrity.

I do think Stevens is a good coach.  Just need to get him some talent to work with.  Or figure it out next year.  We're in really good draft position if the season ended today.

Might not be popular right now, but I think Crawford could be the first guard off the bench on a good team like you said. He can actually score on his own and break down the D, something not every guard in this league can do(see Bradley,Avery). I think he'll just need to accept his future in the NBA is as a backup and not chucking it every other possession.

And I suspect he could be brought back on a reasonable deal.

these last two games have been played well considering the opponents.  with this kind of game they can beat Houston playing in the Gahden.
Humphries was never given as big of an opportunity with the Nets and I think he'll get even better. Ainge has got to come up with an agreeable plan to rework his contract and try and keep this guy. I think it might be doable because Hump really likes it here. Rondo + hump = big points!!!

the Celtics have game, Rondo will bring it out.
