I'm getting amped about how this could work out for the Celts. They lost by 20 to Sacramento last night! They are two and five with not much hope this year at all.
-
If there was a moment where I had a hunch things were going to go bad it was when I found out Kidd was the coach.
-
I think this year we get the lesser of the Nets and Hawks pick, so we gotta route for the Hawks to suck too. The other picks are all unprotected Nets 1st rounders though.

Here is a great site where it is easy to see what picks we have: http://www.prosportstransactions.com/basketball/DraftTrades/Future/Celtics.htm

I am really glad we did not run it back, now. Still it is early.

Is a 5 game losing streak for the Hawks too much to ask?
-
So if the Hawks are better then the Nets we get the Hawks pick??

Yup.

Not much hope? They've got 75 games left to play. Charlotte was 7-5 last year to start the season. Phoenix was 4-4. Orlando was 12-13. They all ended up being among the worst teams.

Not to mention we were sub 500 at the all star break with that core both of the last two seasons.

Yeah.
So the best case scenario is the C's winning the title while the Hawks/Nets get #1/#2 picks so we get the second pick. Or if you're inclined to us not being a contender ;) the C's win the top pick and the Nets/Hawks get 2/3 so the C's would have 1 and 3.

I could be wrong, but I could swear I remember hearing the nets pick this year was top 10 protected, maybe top 7
I know the link in this thread says we get the lower of the hawks or nets pick, but I thiink that's only if the nets don't finish with a top 10 or so pick
Can someone confirm this?

None of the articles I've read indicate there is any protection.

Hawks are playing well, unfortunately. If the season ended today we'd get the #12 pick (our own) and the #19 pick (Atlanta). Atlanta would get Brookyn's pick... which right now looks Top 5.
Over the course of this season, all of that is going to be flip-flopped. Brooklyn will have the best record, Atlanta in the mid and Boston at the bottom.

Just hope the Nets and Hawks both miss the playoffs then we have a pretty awesome shot at 2 lottery picks!
-
I would be thrilled if that second pick ends up anywhere in the 18-22 range. Going into the season i thought would be around 26-28

Danny Ainge will come out like gangbusters on that.
With the way things are going, us losing again (not happy about it but there's a bright side I know), if we land a mid round selection with the Nets/Hawks, and some of our players develop into viable trade assets. Very interesting.
