Game Notes
The Nets are playing in the second of back to back games, having played the Sixers on the road on Monday.  Kevin Garnett played 15 minutes in that game and so he may or may not play against his former team in this one.  Jason Kidd had said that he would hold KG out of back to back games but KG vocally rejected that idea, so who knows. 

Paul Pierce was not with the team in Philly because of personal reasons so he may or may not be back with the team for this one.  The Nets also have been dealing with several injuries that have somewhat depleted their depth. 

The Celtics are coming off a big win and have had a couple of days to rest and practice so hopefully they will come out strong and play with energy in this one. 

Once again, starting lineups are unknown.  Brad Stevens said that his rotations are settling somewhat and the last starting lineup did quite well, so we may see the same lineup of Crawford, Bradley, Green Bass and Sullinger.  But then again, maybe we won't. 

Keys to the Game
Play with Energy - take advantage of the Nets back to back
Rebound - The Nets have size and rebounders and the Celtics must put out extra energy to crash the boards
Don't Be Overly Unselfish - The Celtics have tended to be so unselfish that they pass up open shots. They need to take the shots when they are there
Defense - The Celtics' defense is coming along and they need to keep working hard on that end
Keep Building The Celtics need to take their success from their win over the Knicks and build on it

another pre-season game, nothing at stake so stevens will play mad scientist with the combos once more.

i am interested to see if the celtics are going to try to develop an inside game. so far there have been too many jump shots for my liking.

ANYWAY.

Bold Predictions

Paul Pierce turns the ball over on one end-of-the-quarter iso-Truth posession.

Kevin Garnett gives many daps at shootaround, then proceeds to set illegal picks on every trip down the court. BONUS: He plays for 12 minutes.

Phill Pressey breaks Deron Williams' ankles.

Brook Lopez and Jared Sullinger each finish with double-doubles and positive +/-.

Final Score.
86-95 Celtics.

My bold prediction:

The Klynyk and Andre Blatche get in a scuffle, and both get tossed.  Crawdaddy gets tossed as well for entering the fray and making a lot of strange faces.

No other Nets get involved, and Paul Pierce has an uncontrollable laughing fit from the bench.

And, Jeff Green drops twenty five.

Wow. green is terrible. Looks hesitant looks scared. I have wanted to believe in Jeff for sometime but the more I watchthemore I see the deer in the headlights. Preseason or not he stinks. I wish we had delt Perk for harden. Or anyone else on thethunder team.

If I recall correctly Danny initially wanted Harden, but Thunder said no.  Had to settle for Green.

This is heart-wrenching for me ... no way on God's green earth that Red Auerbach would EVER have allowed Paul Pierce to wear another jersey.

I know all the rationalizations and understand them, and I know the present-day mindset when it comes to putting a team together, but loyalty (in this respect) has gone the way of the Great Auk, and it saddens me.

I hate, and I mean hate, seeing Paul Pierce in a different jersey.

This sucks.

oh a couple of bad plays by KO.  He has been called for a lot of moving screens already this pre-season.  Maybe the refs will chill out with that call once the season gets into gear.

I like Faverani to start at center. Sully at PF. Give the team more physical toughness to begin games. Faverani only needs 12-18mpg as a starter. Just something to stop teams from pushing Boston around too much in the paint right from the off.

Most of our potential starting unit can't even hang with the Nets scrubs. Very sad.

But there is a bright lining. KO and Sully are real players. ANd IMO, Pressey is the real deal.

I have to admit, I like GW a lot more than I thought I would.  He is good role model for hard work for the younger players.  He is aggressive going after the ball, and he can handle the ball better than some of our guards.

I think the effort is going to be there this year.  But I just see big problems scoring enough to win games.

not unlike last season... ugh.

but yeah, they're going to be fun to watch because of all the effort and learning process. Not good enough to win until the second half of the season, but we'll love them.

It what it is ,  a rebuild ,  we ll see what trades and drafts DA can reload us with for next year

yup. I don't mind keeping Lee, Hump, Wallace and Bass. You need some vets on the team still.

I don't care if Jcraw is traded and if we can get decent value for Green you trade him. 

AB is really thriving under Stevens now. Three excellent games now

Oh yeah.  I mean I wasn't really complaining.  More like an observation.  The rebuild had to happen.  I am still enjoying the start of the season though.  I just hope we can stay competitive and not just get blown out a lot.  Modest goal.

Well, the scoring woes were seen by lots of folks. When this team is in transition they seem to score well enough. But boy oh boy do they have trouble in the half court.

No consistent shooters.

Crawford showed why he is not an nba  pg. expect 2-4 bad decisions an evening out of him. He still needs to play with more discipline to be effective.

Bradley and Wallace seemed good tonight. I was impressed by olynyk on offense. He can score. But his defense is weak, not terrible but not good. Rebounding? Not so good either. Matchups may be the key to his success in the nba.

All in all, I can see Stevens is developing particular combos of players as the pre season goes on.

Somehow ,  losses suck,  but it hurt worse when you are a contender .

Long as they play hard, will suffer the time and losses

Pierce did not turn the ball over, despite having an iso play at the end of the first. He scored a layup around three defenders, and we all died a little inside.

KG didn't play.

Deron Williams apparently broke his own ankles, and didn't play either.

Lopez finished 20-3-2 with a +8, Sullinger finished with 6-3ast-2stls, zero boards, and a -3.
