Who's whipping out their superstitious 08' gear to sport? :P
Go C's let's go baby!!!
If KG is playing his playoff standard 37 minutes a night and Pierce is playing his playoff standard 39 minutes a night... Boston will probably win this series in 5.
The key disadvantage is the Celtics not having a guy who averaged 17.3 points, 11.9 assists, 6.7 rebounds and 2.4 steals in the playoffs last year. That would be, of course, Rondo.
Wow. Thunder over Louisville is today, so ABC is doing full day coverage here in Kentucky. Crap.
Need to find another channel quick so I can watch this.
If I do miss, LET'S GO CELTICS! LET'S GO CELTICS!
anyone else getting butterflies?
anyone else getting butterflies?
Real classy NY. Just because you clap AFTER your boo doesn't make it okay.See I knew I heard boos when Paul was talking.
Lets kick their ass.
JVG is sad because he is not announcing his beloved LeBron...I love JVG lol
Go Celtics!!!
Melo might not miss...geez
This is the playoffs. Endure the storm. Happens a lot when teams open at home. Celtics will be fine.
Live by the three, die by the three. He pretty much has been.
Put Green on Melo full time.
Nice moving screen by ChandlerTP about to write the same thing
I don't like Bass at center.Seriously, what is he doing? Doc this is the playoffs not the regular season where you can put in any and every lineup.

Can there ever be FTs on a charge?
Pierce and his quick bricks are leading to run outs by the Knicks
I hate jr smith

C's have no one to check him. He's the X factor for NY.
Where is Courtney Lee?
Why in the world is Jordan Crawford playing ahead of Courtney Lee!?
Can there ever be FTs on a charge?
Haha J.Green with buzzer beating triple again.
I don't like the iso of Jeff Green against J-Kidd 20+ feet from the basket. Forced a tough shot that misses 80% of the time. The advantage was to Kidd defensively that far from the basket.
This game is turning into a 3pt shoot-out. Not a good strategy for the C's.
Terry is killing us out there!

****ING JASON TERRY SUCKS!! Where are the people who insisted he would show up come playoffs? Such a liability on both sides of the court.
Bradley is a poor passer. Not a starting quality PG without significant improvement as floor general + passer.
Give Twill a few minutes on Melo.Too small. T-Will is a below average defender against forwards with size. Very effective against guards but forwards are a tough assignment for him.
Doc will never learn. Bass can't cover meloSuch a strange coaching decision.
Bradley is going to kill me. Drives me nuts.

Doc will never learn. Bass can't cover meloSuch a strange coaching decision.
If I were the Knicks, I'd go to it every time.
Insane theory:
Doc had Bass on Melo so that Melo keeps scoring, this making him overconfident. When the game is close in the fourth, Melo, still overconfident, will just iso vs. Pierce or Green, thus killing NY's offense and gifting Boston the win.
Maybe I should just shut up.
JR Smith shoots over the top of Bradley effortlessly. Beautiful shot.
What the hell is going on with Avery
Can PP and Green just play point forward? AB is driving me mad.
Pierce should be running the point.I would suggest anyone who can make a simple 10 yard pass should be handling the ball rather than AB
Smith is always a scoring problem...Bradley is weak as pg...Shav would do better on chandler....
I'm starting to see Doc's philosophy of putting Bass on Melo paying dividends. Bass isn't an offensive weapon. Never will be. Let him guard Melo one on one, if Melo scores, fine but at least Pierce and Green can concentrate on scoring and not wear themselves down playing D on Melo.
If Bass can check Melo, the C's are GOLDEN.

well, when bass needs a break.....or kg....shav is going to have to play....Wilcox can break out..but he mostly disappears....Smith is always a scoring problem...Bradley is weak as pg...Shav would do better on chandler....
We all knew Doc would not make a rebounder part of the playoff rotation.
I don't have the numbers but I feel like the C's have done a good job on the boards. No offensive boards, obviously, but not allowing ones to the Knicks, either.
Sheed in the Celtics hallway!!!
How bad was Terry? :oI didn't see him yet..but.....how BAD was he ALL year...? VERY...! Hope nowack doesn't get in and going.hate when he hits 3's....
Imagine if Boston takes this game..homecourt advantage thrown out the window..I would love that so much.

I was reeeeeeally looking forward to this game and international league pass isn't working for me :'(
Anyway . . . Let's go Celtics!! :)

I'm in Australia and it is working fine for me, have you been using one all season or just for the Playoffs?
The league pass is also free for today I think, perhaps logging in is having issues with potential overload?
Bill Simmons is a Celtics homer. :)

it's a full season pass. Gonna try a pc now. App just craps out . .
We also have to keep Novak completely silent from downtownThis is important because once he gets hot from there...
Looks like JG could be the "guy who blows up in game 1 of a series and makes people think the underdog might be better than expected."
Looking like it could turn into a grind it out game
Pierce has been atrocious to start the half
Bass at center and another monster dunk.
24-4 in bench points
24-4 in bench points
we need some scoring from Courtney Lee.
Go Celtics!
24-4 in bench points
Well, JR Smith has 13 of those. Basically a starter.
Lee was open on the 2nd Pierce three, bad shot selection, could have been a huge basket to keep the momentum and extend the lead!

Saw that too TP
Lee was open on the 2nd Pierce three, bad shot selection, could have been a huge basket to keep the momentum and extend the lead!I thought Pierce only took that shot because he saw C-Lee streaking to the basket. He thought Lee would continue on and be in lead position to get the offensive rebound. A two for one opportunity.
Thought Terry may have made a nice play there. But no.

But Lee didn't continue his run to the hoop and it ended up being an easy defensive rebound for New York.
Has Garnett been playing? We'd be down 15 without him.
Terry lost his mojo.
I miss Ray Allen. Terry is garbage.
Would help if KG and Pierce could hit a couple shots. Come on, guys!!!Not sure what more Pierce could do right now.
Where are you boneheads that kept insisting Terry will show up in the playoffs? hahaha this guy is a waste of a good Celtics jersey
I never thought I would say that but I now have more confidence when I see Bradley shooting whether than Terry taking a wide open shot.Ditto :(
This game needs to be Pierce, KG, Bass, Green, and Bradley the rest of the way (barring foul trouble).
I miss Ray Allen. Terry is garbage.Just thinking the same exact thing
Terry lost his mojo.
Yeah, it looks like he is finished. Worrying.
Jet's just asking for a trade in the summer with the way he's been playing.
G - Bradleyi think bass has done a passable job defending Melo
G - Lee
F - Pierce
F - Green
C - Garnett
Is the lineup I want out there.
a TRADE for Terry...who would want him now..?
Difference between a number one scoring option and not: when the defense ratchets up the pressure, the number one scoring option keeps shooting and hits shots, the non number one scoring option withers and stops scoring. Mr. Anthony meet Mr. Green.Paul Pierce is our number one scoring option. Jeff Green has been fantastic help, though.
Doc needs to take Terry out of the game indefinitely and give some other players minutesANYONE besides Terry..! Williams for energy and D..?

6-26 in the second HALF.....not sure how you can win a playoff game shooting like that
Law of averages... we'll hit some shots soon6-26 in the second HALF.....not sure how you can win a playoff game shooting like that
Brutal!!!!!!
Just a comment on what was happening in the fourth so far. Melo's defense on Green when Green was the number one option for Boston shut him down and cost the C's their momentum.Difference between a number one scoring option and not: when the defense ratchets up the pressure, the number one scoring option keeps shooting and hits shots, the non number one scoring option withers and stops scoring. Bass at center again. Not going to win a playoff series this way.Martin is playing center for NY. Not like there is a true center on the floor.
It's basically Pierce and everyone else on the floor right now. Knicks aren't even playing that well.
Bass at center again. Not going to win a playoff series this way.Martin is playing center for NY. Not like there is a true center on the floor.
That TO was Pierce's and he has 5. Bradley 4.:(
Anyone miss Rondo yet?
I don't understand, Pierce had Felton on him and didn't try to make a move -__-Yeah, that was a really bad sequence and turnover. Just held the ball. For so long. Offense went completely stagnant. Then screwed up the pass back out.
Bradley's passing is about as bad as it gets....WOWYup and he doesn't have the size or the scoring ability to be a starting SG. I had hoped we would package him with bass and draft picks for an upgrading big man and have this lineup:
OUr bench is so so so so bad.
Green cannot buy a callNot shocking at all.
Doc deserved to lose this game, adamantly continuing to play this scrub Terry...well, if we're to have a chance, well need terry.
Really, what had this imbecile done all season except be cocky and talk trash about other teams? You only talk trash and look down on others if you yourself can outplay them.
I think all those that have been trashing Rondo all season should be forced to watch this second half every day until opening night next year
Terrence would at least play defense.....Lets stop with that.
This was the game to steal. Had it right there and just turn everything overYeah, fully agree. This is a big loss. These are the types of games that win you or cost you a series. Gotta make it count on nights like this.
Put Terry in the ****ned doghouse and give others minutes like Williamswilliams isn't even an nba player. Please stop.
Celtics are in a dire need of a big that can also score in the post/pass from the post. That would open up so much more in the perimeter90% of the nba agrees,
Huge mistake from Kevin, which costed us the game right there :'(!
The goal is to win 1 game in NY. It won't be today but the Celtics should be able to accomplish this.I agree. But that means game 2 is a must win.

Absolute ****ing joke
This is why I knew they would miss Rondo in the playoffs.
Also
-the bench needs to step it up
-Jet needs to get it together because he brought nothing to the table today.
-KG has been cold
-they need to get the turnovers together
The only thing I can say is that they've finally made their FT's.
Hopefully they can get next game and tie it up.
EIGHT ****ing points in the 4th quarter.....jesus
EIGHT ****ing points in the 4th quarter.....jesus
Turnovers = Game.This. They tied the Knicks in rebounding, made all of their FT's and even had the Knicks shooting bad at the three point line.
BTW, what an embarrassing second half effort given by the Celtics for the city of Boston. ::) ::)
Of course, I still say that the bombings were going to have zero effect on the Celtics play and so far, that's true.
I just meant that he made a huge mistake by doubling Melo and not noticing K-Mart standing without anybody guarding him ;DHuge mistake from Kevin, which costed us the game right there :'(!Really? I saw a team that was hoping KG or Pierce would save them. Which describes the 12-13 Boston Celtics perfectly.
After taking a seven point lead, we finished the game on a 22-8 run.
Need to close games better.
Not worried. The better team wins a series.
Celtics are in a dire need of a big that can also score in the post/pass from the post. That would open up so much more in the perimeter
They are in dire need of dribble penetration.
15 shot attempts for J.Green
15 shot attempts for Pierce
14 shot attempts for Bradley
12 shot attempts for Garnett
2 shot attempts for Bass in 33 minutes. Bass should never take so few shot attempts. His scoring his main value on the court. Needs to be more aggressive on offense.

So...are you going to keep defending the self-proclaimed "JET"?
Turnovers sucked. Offense sucked. Bench sucked. Terry still sucks.
Sorry. Not going to do it. Until I see this magical motivation that the bombings are supposed to create, you are going to hear it.BTW, what an embarrassing second half effort given by the Celtics for the city of Boston. ::) ::)

He had a bad game; doesn't mean he won't step up later.

Even a backup PG like Will Bynum or JJ Barea would make such a big difference to Boston's offense right now. Someone who can beat their defender and get into the paint. Force the Knicks defense off kilter. Get them scrambling.
Too easy to defend right now. Everything is in front of a set defense.
There has to be more balance. Rondo was missed tonight. Lee and especially Terry have to produce in these playoffs. Terry's inconsistency makes us miss Ray Allen. This game was winnable for tha Celtics but they dropped tha ball. They need to be and stay aggressive for all four quarters in these playoffs. Especially against tha Knicks.

Because he picked the players?
So. I watched this game in NYC surrounded by a bar full of Knicks fans. They are loud and unpleasant. Next time you see me, please buy me drinks to make up for the last 2+ hours of my life.

That second half was embarrassing. The worst scoring half in Celtic playoff history happens just days after a complete no show in a game which happened just days after a bombing that was supposed to inspire motivation and excellence in the Celtics, supposedly.

If the celtics win the series are you going to say it was because of the motivation of the bombings?
If not than why are you even talking about this. You are going to argue against it either way so its just bickering just to bicker.
My god tho I cant believe we almost won with maybe the worst quarter in Celtics history. Soencouraging. Unless of course you never believe a loss can be encouraging.

Tyson Chandler played only 20 minutes.I agree we played about as good as you can up until that horrendous second half. I know Melo had almost 40 but it wasn't in a dominant way where he was just killing us, we made it tough for him and held their shooters in check for the most part. I'll take ugly games with them in the 90s all day.
The Knicks still won.
This was a real chance to steal one on their homecourt. A blown opportunity.

I wish I never had to see Bradley try to pass again in the playoffs. It's ridiculous how awful a passer and finisher around the basket he is on non-cuts. While his shooting numbers were solid, after the Knicks took away his cuts off the ball, he didn't have much of an impact. Overall, between the grade school passing and bad fouls, he's a very frustrating player to watch.

Look, no offense intended to you or LSS, but I LOL'd at the comments here.
What do we expect Jeff Green to do - carry us for 48 min? Ain't happening.
His production "should" have been enough to carry BOS...none of us foresaw JT going 0 - 4, Paul and KG having bad FG% games, nor the mistakes that AB made at PG.
No one on the Knicks squad can guard Paul Pierce...he "should" be having a field day out there.
To me, Jeff Green is the absolute last person we should be blaming, here....just unbelievable.

The second half wasn't even all that bad. Cs led by 7 at one point (largest lead by either team to that point, I believe). If they could've maintained hustle, they would have pulled out the W. KMart and Kidd really showed a lot of hustle, and got Melo and the crowd back into it. Gritty vets would help the Cs a lot (Terry doesn't count).

I'm not blaming him for the loss. I'm just pointing out that he was M.I.A in the second half. So yeah, he arrived for the first half and then left early. I have no problem with green missing, I have a problem when he losses his aggressiveness and that's exactly what he did in the second half. He does deserve SOME blame.
