Miami or the Lakers.
It was pretty hard for me, but I think I was on the side of the Lakers this time for a couple of reasons.
The Laker record is 'as old as dirt' so no one really remembers it, and it does not get press that often because it is seldom challenged. The Heat if they had broken it would be talked about more as a recent achievment. For that reason I tended to root for the Lakers to keep the record.
Boy, I hate these two teams.
Who do you hate more?

The situation was a bit like getting root canal surgery. There would have been some lasting benefits in having it happen (Lakers no longer hold the record) but the immediate short term pain (seeing Miami break the record) would have been almost unbearable!

LA's streak is irrelevant to me, it was like 40 years ago, it does nothing for them today... now if this was about LA's number of chips then of course I'd want Mia to end it for them, because that is relevant to the Celtics organization right now, chips are the measuring stick... who cares about win streaks when it's over and the next season? No one. Even most of the above average fans probably didn't know the streak number b/c when it's said and done it doesn't matter... chips do, how many people besides Celtic fans and Houston fans even remember that 22 win streak Celts ended? I'm sure very few.
If Mia and LA were to meet in the Finals I would NOT watch, but I'd suck it up and hope Mia wins b/c they can't both lose... never mind, I would hope basketball was wiped off the face of the Earth for that season! God please don't let that happen, I know it's just basketball and not that serious but it would ruin my sports life until Celts win it again!

Both b/c to beat LA's you beat Mia's... woot, two birds one stone.
Okay, I know you mean if Mia had the longer streak overall... easily I'd rather beat LA's because Mia in the large scheme of things (rivalry/chips) is a blip on the radar. But again, that streak doesn't mean anything to me... b/c no one really cares or remembers/thinks about it even a season or 2 later.

I was rooting for them to come back late in that Bulls game. It was fun. It wouldn't hurt me at all if Miami broke the streak. LeBron's a great player. I have a ton of respect for him.

For the life of me, I can't understand why a Celtic fan would hate Miami more than the Lakers. Is it a generational thing? Do you mind me asking how old you are? I wonder if younger Celtic fans despise the Lakers less than they should. I'm a mere 30 and yet I recognize our mild squabble with the Heat is irrelevant compared to a deep-seeded lifetime rivalry with the Lakers.

Here I was thinking you were some crotchety old man, and as it turns out, you're actually slightly younger than me-LOL!
I also hate the Lakers more than anything; nothing can compare. I don't like Miami one bit either, though, and have no respect for them as a team, or as individuals (except for Shane Battier).

I think it's generational. The media is what makes it. I'm pretty young, yet I still hate LA more than Miami.
With Miami, it more of a rivalry between players (Rondo, Pierce, KG, Ray, LeBron, Wade, Bosh, I could go on), but with LA it's just hatred from a rich history of competition.
God I hate the purple and gold.

I can see someone viewing the Lakers as hated but respected rivals and the current iteration of the Heat as an abominable crime against basketball.
I want more bad things to happen to the Lakers than to the Heat as a franchise, but I want more bad things to happen to the players on the 2012-2013 Heat than to the players on the 2012-2013 Lakers.

Its quite simple. What have you done for me lately, and in this case, what have you done to me lately. I hate the lakers but my hate for the heat surpasses them right now.
The heat are the team blocking us from even reaching the finals again and I hate them for that. More importantly, I at least respect the lakers. I have zero respect for miami.
