Today, I was watching a mini-movie on Game 7 of the NBA Finals in which the Lakers won.
Now that we look back at the Game 7 of NBA Finals 2010, what do you wish we did different that would have won us the game.
I know Perkins was out, but is there anything in that specific game that you severely regret? Such as a specific decision by Doc, or a specific play by the Celtics, or even a specific ref call (Please don't say all calls).
The Lakers were up by or had tied it up by 5 minutes. What I regret is that I now I think Doc should have put Pierce, KG, and Allen on the bench for 1 minute. Sure they would not have fully gotten their energy back in a minute, but it surely would have helped them (I say this from my own basketball playing experience).
I know its heartbreaking, disheartening, and sad to talk about that game, but let this be the thread to pour out your feelings and lighten your heart.

I wished the refs called that "up-and-down" travel on Gasol that put up LA by 6 with a little over a minute left.
To me, it was pretty clear, and the ref on the baseline had a good look at it IIRC.
I also wish Kobe had continued to chuck in the fourth. That strategy worked in our favor for the first three quarters.

No joke. The network replayed it, and it was clear that Gasol's foot touched the floor before he got the shot off. What a joke that was.

The only thing I really wish the Celtics did differently, that they actually had control of, was play TA more. Even though he had a bum ankle at that point, not giving him more court time really burned out Pierce/Ray.
TA really came into his own at the end of that season, and was playing exceptionally well. Even after the ankle injury, he still continued to play very solid defense.
Otherwise, I really rather not think about it.

I wish the refs didn't suddenly start calling touch fouls in the fourth quarter when they had been allowing both teams to play physically all night.

As I've said many times about this game
Pau Gasol 18 rebounds
Kevin Garnett 3 rebounds
Game, set, match
Kg was pretty hobbled that year.sigh....but that guy "we're better without" was pretty darn good

Don't disagree at all...he needs to get back to that
I think the franchise created the "this is rondos team now" monster but let's not turn it into that

Rondo is an extremely talented player who will never miss you if you're open for a nanosecond. His main issue over the past several years is that he has progressively fallen in love with this ability of his.

Fair enough..I think this year more than ever, tp

All this thread confirms for me is that the Los Angeles Lakers will ALWAYS reserve a special place in my heart...more special than MIA...more special than those 80's Sixers-Celtics games.
That Feb 7 win takes some pain away...but I'd STILL love for LA and BOS to dance ONE MORE time this June.
Only LA's glorious defeat, at the hands of BOS, in a seven-game series - in June - will make me feel better about 09-10.
C'mon LA! Get it together! Make the post-season!
Beat OKC!
BOS - Beat MIA!
MIA and OKC are perhaps the two biggest roadblocks to BOS-LA meeting one more time - and BOS getting some revenge for that Game 7 loss.
LA's beaten OKC this season - we've beaten MIA.
I'm still hopeful we can meet again in June.

I guess if I could change one thing - it would've been for a consistently-officiated game.

Derek Fishers layup in game 3
:'( :'(
Game 3 in General was the pivotal difference maker for them.

I'd say much of the team was fairly fond of this, all of PP/KG/RA/Shaq (and others) were having some of the best shooting years of their careers with Rondo feeding them the ball. It's popular to blame Rondo for everything that's been wrong with the Celts offense the last month or two but it's not like we haven't had a ton of success with Rondo controlling the ball.

Ouch man, ouch. To bad you weren't at the "shrek and donkey" game instead.
At the time I was living with my sister without cable, going to school watching on my laptop ..hurt just as bad! But tp

I'd change something before that: in the Orlando series, erase the Captain's broom quote... shut your mouth and take care of the Tragic in 4.
Extending that series meant Baby's concussion, Coward elbowing Quisy AND our bigs (KG and Sheed took a beating, leading to Sheed hurting his back and being limited in the Finals) all of that in Game 5. Not to say a little rest would help the Big 3, big time. Have them taken care of job in Game 4 would've meant a lot, a healthier Sheed, healthy Baby and Quisy and less fatigued veterans.
Other than that, I'd have changed Metta World War injuring Ray, who was huge before that injury.
In my mind there's no doubt the Celts sweep the Fakers in that case. No Perk injury, no JO... #19 on its way in 2010-2011.
but... still hurts and it'll hurt until the Celts win 3 or 4 more banners. Then I'd be ready to forget.
Go Celtics!!!

He also had a"we won't be coming back to l.a" comment in the finals during game 2 and they promptly lost the infamous game3 I mentioned

The biggest thing that went wrong in the Orlando was Rondo picking up some kind of leg injury. Before that he was arguably the best performer in the postseason and we were cutting through our opponents like a knife through butter. After that he was good but not great and the Celts were struggling.

this is an extremely painful thread, that will likely be the most painful sports moment i ever experience...
i agree with the inconsistent play calling. it's a game 7, the stars on both sides are struggling with their shots, it was a defensive, bruising series for the most part.. and all of a sudden in the 4th if anybody breathes on gasol he's at the line.
lets face it folks, it was a 4 point game, it was as close as you can get to a finals win. literally anything could have gone differently and the outcome could have been different. a draft in the building. a particularly obnoxious fan. i choose to blame the refs, as i usually do.

:( Looking back at NBA Finals 2010, Game 7...
Go, away.
-
most painful loss in Celtics history for me (it replaced the 1973 ECF game 7 loss vs Knicks).
-
To those who thought/think I am purposely causing them pain by making them remember this:
That is not my intent. I had just as much pain as you all. Most of the time, I was cheering for the individual players like KG, Pierce, and Allen to win more than I was for team Celtics.
I really prayed to god that KG, Pierce, and Allen win that ring, because they deserved it after what they had achieved in their entire careers.
Anyways, I was in tears and somewhat crying that day too and I am sure many others did too.
Sometimes, we just have to forget the sad part and face the reality.

Foh-gad aboudit!
Think about our championship THIS year...
-

This how I will always remember that game. They called the game differently in the 4th quarter. I don't remember what the free throw discrepancy was but it was substantial.
-
That post-season was Operation Fo'Fo'Fo'. I'd predicted it and it happened.

I can't think about that game without thinking about the refs. Call me a homer or whatever but we got robbed.
