I checked his stat line this morning. Dionte' has played in 24 games, starting in 13 for CSKA Moscow (the same team Nenad Krstic is on). He's averaged just over 17 minutes per game - that may not sound like a lot, but on that team, the coach really spreads the playing time around. No player is averaging over 27 minutes and lots of guys are right around 17-20. Dionte's overall FG% is not great, just ~34%, but he's killing it from 3PT land - 46%.
Bringing him over would probably require a buy out and I doubt he'd do it for just a 10 day contract.
Of the various options being discussed, I do like the idea of Christmas because he has some decent size for a 2G (6' 5") so we wouldn't be tiny if he's in the back court with Terry.

If a team buys a foreign player out does that money count against the cap?
I don't think Christmas would come all the way from Russia for a ten 10. I think they wait until after the trade deadline then if it's feasible they offer him a contract for the reminder of the year.

Only 10 more months.

This team needs a PG. Not sure why it has to be a veteran, though.

why? They celebrate Christmas the same day everywhere. going overseas doesn't change the date ;D

Still think it needs a PF/C more. PG is still a secondary need as we have three good guards, plus Pierce as a point forward.

He can't just leave his contract...

I have a feeling any trades/buyouts will involve getting a big man, and we'll just sign Shelvin Mack to be a 3rd string pg. In other words, we'll still mainly use 2s as 1s, and throw Mack in there from time to time.
It wouldn't surprise me

Yep. I think we're just gonna get Mack and a cheap big.
