Title: Would the Lakers and Celts ever consider a Dwight Howard trade?
Post by: gpap on February 12, 2013, 09:44:42 PM
If the Celts offered to trade KG and/or Pierce to the Lakers in exchange for Howard and if he agreed to an extension to play in Boston, would either team do it?

Then, if Howard agrees to stay here, wouldn't Boston appeal to Josh Smith with Howard and Rondo?

No. The Lakers chance to stay relevant beyond Kobe rests on Howard they aren't trading him.

I hope they do. Howard is still the best center in the NBA in the prime of his career.

And he's bound to win a title sooner or later.

As much as I love KG and Pierce, hasn't that ship sailed as far as them winning another title?

Hmm, I don't know. It seems like Howard is a bad fit in LA. I am willing to bet if you call Kupchick and offer KG and Pierce for Dwight and filler (Gasol, World Peace) the Lakers seriously consider it.

Lol. Well, what if it was a Rondo for Dwight trade?

2 injured stars. Kobe said he'd love to play with Rondo. We build around Bradley, Dwight, Sullinger and Jeff Green.

Yes and the only chance they have of him doing so is by having his bird rights and being able to offer him some 20-30 million dollars more over the life of the contract than another team.

Absolutely not!

Do you people WANT the Celtics to fail?  Have you not seen the current state of the once-proud Magic after the Dwight drama?  Have you not seen the trouble he's already causing in LA?  Have you not seen how injury prone he is?

Hell I'd even rather take Amare then Howard!  Amare is injury prone, but at least he's capable of leading  team.

Howard is very much like Rondo in that he's more "Scottie Pippen" than "Michael Jordan".  He doesn't have the offensive talent to be the number one scoring option and leader of a team, but he has the talent to be a very dominant "second superstar" as a #2 option.

Sadly this doesn't work because he can't function emotionally as a #2, yet he doesn't have the talent to be a #1.

Pass.

Eventually his health will return, maybe not to Orlando  strength .   not sure I would spend franchise money on him anymore .

DH is no box of chocolates.   He's like 27 now and still acts 14

I'm not so sure about that anymore. And I am sure he's not got the head for it.

Why would you want Dwight after what we've seen between late Orlando and now?  Plus the injury history?

I used to think he was the 2nd best player in the league and I wanted him bad, now I'd never want him.

They guy wasn't happy being the man and not having enough, now he refuses to sacrifice and accept a role on a better team.

Now, I'll cut him a bit of slack because I'm sure playing with Kobe sucks, but he thinks he should be getting the ball in iso post ups like he's Hakeem... he has no understanding of his own game and what his role should be.

Do not blame Howard for the bad relationship with Koby. In fact Koby is selfish person. He forced LAL to trade Shaq( the best NBA player at the time). Same thing he is doing now. I think trading Rondo for Howard is a great move. Imagine tandem  KG+DH12!
