Title: What Needs to be Said!
Post by: drogbagarnett on February 12, 2013, 12:40:27 AM
Ok here are a few points I need to mention here:
Read a lot recently but didn't comment much...
Here are what is on my mind right now:

1) Losing streaks and Pierce usage:
So many of those game we lost had Pierce turning the ball over or forcing it shoots while double team! He was in a shooting slump and I understand anyone can have one. But forcing your way out of it by forcing it is not what we needed! This is on Doc! He should have understood it and make Pierce a facilitator that would get a better look if the ball is shared and swing around (Just like it has started to be recently).

2) Winning without Rondo
These talks about us better without Rondo are true only for shortsighted people! Usually teams come together in face of adversity and overdo sometimes. there are adjustment to make that actually work out very well indeed! But then the law averages applies and teams around the league adjust and include this new look celtics offense in their scouting report! Once they have about 10 games of history to plan on they will understand what we run with Terry and KG PnR or Pierce and KG 2-man game... That's when you will need a Rondo who can read the opp defense adjustments and smartly adapt to it...

3) Adjustments and playoff
In the playoffs when the same teams are facing several times they will be a lot of times for the opponent to adjust to our Rondo less offense! Most coaches we played against last year mention the Rondo unpredictability (Eric Spoelstra and Doug Collins) and said it was difficult for them to plan against us because of Rondo! That's when you will feel his absence!

4) Doc Responsibility
Doc decision making has been incredibly bad sometimes this year! I did make bad choices in the past but this year he stepped it up and almost no one is criticizing his choices in the Boston Media/reporters/experts...

5) Green usage
I'm sorry but today against the Bobcats was the third time Green was having a great game and was benched for no reasons whatsoever if not to get a tired Pierce back in!! We were up, with the Bobcats having NO answers for Green's ability to post up, spread the floor, attack the rim and draw the fouls... AND defend well and contest the jumpers! 6 min left and up by 5 Doc goes ahead and sub Green who is killing the Bobcats defensively and offensively! Doesn't play again until 25 sec left...
The 3rd time this year such a thing happens! Why is nobody talking about this?? Way too much Pierce forcing things instead of going with the hot hand and sharing the ball! I'm not saying bench Pierce but play them together and let Pierce be the facilitator and Terry and green and KG the scorers! Doesn't have to be Pierce ALL THE TIME!! Especially when he is clearly tired!!

6) Trades: Expendable players and team needs
Sorry but trades are needed here! Dont care if it's rebuilt for the future or recharge for a push this year.. In either way trades are needed!
Expendable are Bass and Melo (Wilcox maybe)
Needed are :
Point Guard: Ball handler with size and shooting range
Wing : Defensive minded SG/SF with size and 3pt shooting
Center : Athletic and long shot blocker who finish around the basket and can play one on one D.
Is that too much to ask Danny...?? :-)
I wouldn't mind bringing back Micah Downs as a wing...

I like this post, TP. I would add Terry to the expendables.  I don't think we move him now Barbosa is gone though.  But Jet has at times seemed more of a bi-plane.

Yeah I hear you, I'm frustrated with Terry too sometimes!
But in my eyes, there are two types of high performers. Those who perform well without pressure and those who perform well under pressure!
In basketball term, there are playoff players and regular season players!
Terry is going to be needed when it matters most!
I wouldn't trade him!

on a back to back the entire team is tired. This includes Doc because clearly he made a very bad decision. I bet if you gave him a 2nd chance, he leaves green in.

He didn't want Green or Pierce on Mullens. Mullens got two easy hoops on each of them in the post.

He could have put Green at the two but then it's a quick guard on Green. (Walker and sessions I believe ).

So doc choose defensive matchups and Pierce over Green. Didn't work, but not a horrific brain fart that people think.
Just rehashing what I said in another thread.
