Assuming the Celtics continue to play as well with Rondo as they do without him, and considering the interest in JJ Reddick, I wouldn't be surprised to see them be traded for each other.
Despite my screen name, I actually came around to Rondo because of what he was able to do in the playoffs last year. But if it turns out we don't need him, JJ Reddick might be able to fill the role of Ray Allen better than Jason Terry has.
Long term, a starting lineup of Bradley, Reddick, Green, and Sullinger would be a very balanced well shooting team. If we have 4 good shooters, we could afford to have a goon center in Fab Melo (or whoever is available in free agency) whose sole role is to play defense and rebound, in the way which Kendrick Perkins used to.
If we were to trade Rondo for Reddick, what else would need to be involved and would you even consider it?
-
Hahahaha...oh wait, you were serious?
-
... would you even consider it?
No. You don't trade all-stars for role players.
-
Rondo is so much better and more valuable than Redick, it's not even funny. I don't see how we trade a starting all-star player for a one-dimensional player [albeit, very good at what he does]. I am not even sure I pull the trigger on a Lee for Redick proposal...
-
omg.
-
Just considering the good play without him and their interest in Reddick, yes. It is obviosly not a straight up trade. The question is what else would be needed to make it worthwhile? Additional picks? Bring in a third team for a legit big man?
Straight up? No way, Rondo has too much value. But given the speculation around Reddick, and the POSSIBILITY that the Celtics continue to play well without him, there is reason to think they could be the centerpieces for a trade.
-
That's ridiculous we should trade him for Kirk Heinrich instead
-
Or to transition the thread...If the Celtics play significantly better without Rondo before the trade deadline I don't see how Ainge wouldn't try trading him. My question is what would it take? If Reddick is involved, what else would you need. OR what team out there is in need of a great PG that has something we could use?
-
I don't think Orlando would do it. Rondo might never play again.

The problem is I can't imagine a worse time to ever trade Rondo - his value couldn't be lower. This is fine with me since I don't want to trade him...and the same goes for Sullinger. Everybody who was afraid of blow it up trades that included both of these guys should be [in a way] ecstatic.
-
This thread is crazy. Reddick is a role player... Probably 20 players like him in the league
-

ridculous notion

Go home! No way!

Go home! No way!
It's "Nowee" :P
Ontopic:
A 100% no this trade.
-
Hm Orlando may not agree to that, how about Rondo for Big Baby? We can throw in Sullinger too.
Go home, you are drunk.

Is it, though?... is it? Ricky Rubio is having a disaster of a season and Derrick Rose has yet to even return. Rondo has no trade value at this point. Rondo's on the books for two more seasons. I don't think anyone would give up an expiring contract for him and take the risk that he'll return to form. I think some people already saw him as overrated and a product of his system. You aren't going to get a blue chipper like JJ Reddick for him at this point.

OK, awful idea I guess. My point is that in the next few weeks we will see if the Celtics are better, worse, or the same without Rondo as they are with him. If we are better, or even the same, there is no reason to keep him.
So if the Celtics continue to play well without him I wouldn't be surprised if is is traded despite his injury. Maybe work out a trade for Demarcus Cousins instead. His name has been thrown around in trade talks but I haven;t seen Rondo's name in it. If we throw Rondo in the equation, maybe that will get us closer to a deal.
-
Well if DA trades 4 time all star RR for Reddick then he should be fired (as all of those other ridiculous threads are calling for.)
But since there is a brain in DA's head, no we don't trade Rondo for Reddick.

Wrong. if we play better we should go forward with the thought process we will be even better with rondo...period
-
Rondo for Reddick? Are you crazy? That is one of the worst trades ever seen in Celtic's Blog you have to be joking?????
-
I don't think Orlando would do it. Rondo might never play again.
I'm guessing we'll be filing this one with "there's no way Howard won't end up with the Nets" or "the Lakers will win 70+ games".

I'm confused how anyone would think the starting PG for the all-start team, a triple-double machine is overrated with his contract about $10 mill a year? That is short dollars in NBA money!
Bad trade idea and I'm a big Redick fan.

Here's what i would need since it's a ridiculous trade speculation:
Boston gets:
Redick
Afflalo
Vucevic
Billups
'14 1st Rd (knicks)
11 mill trade exception
Magic gets:
Rondo
Bass
Clippers get:
Terry
'15 2nd Rd (lakers)
Hopefully the Orlando GM is really intoxicated when we call!
-
LoLoLoL
-
jeez
-
No.
-
Hahaha. This is funny.
-
Lulz
-
Its funny that Rondo cant even get a break, even tho the fact that he is injured for the rest of the season ;D
-
So who was it that made this "traderondo" alternate account to avoid being labeled with this thread?
-
Rondo for Mcgee?
Rondo for Howard?
Rondo for Nene?
-
How about this...
Boston Trades: Rajon Rondo, Brandon Bass
Boston Receives: Al Horford, Jameer Nelson
Accomplishes: Compete this year and long term. If we end up not needing Rondo or Bass, Might as well trade for a legitimate Center in Horford. Jameer Nelson is just their to entice Orlando and make salaries work.
Sartign linup of the future: Bradley, Lee, Green, Sullinger, Horford
Atlanta Trades: Al Horford, Jeff Teague
Receives: Rajon Rondo, JJ Redick
Accomplishes: Gives Atlanta a great shot at keeping Josh Smith and being competitive now (at least starting next year). Zaza Pachulia can fill in more minutes for Horford.
Orlando Trades: Jameer Nelson, JJ Redick
Receives: Jeff Teague, Brandon Bass
Accomplishes: Ridding themselves of two older players with no plan of resigning, shedding salary, and getting a great young talent.
How does this look? The point of my original post was that we have very little use
for Rondo if we play better without him, and that since Orlando is trading Redick we might be able to benefit in a trade surrounding these players. It's a gamble for Atlanta but at the same time the could have a solid 1,2,3 all in their primes if it works out.

Orlando traded Bass once and never wants him backkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
-
oh man I thought this terrible thread died why is it back?
-
How about Rondo for JJ+1st Rnd Pick?
-
Ewwwww.
-
So nobody would trade Rondo for Horford? It will be much easier to replace Rondo by moving Bradley to the point and Lee to SG than it is going to be to replace KG when he retires.

Horford is an All Star center.
JJ Reddick is, well, JJ Reddick.

Yes. And Rondo is an All-Star PG. Hawks trade All Star and young prospect for All star and, well, JJ Reddick
-
I wanna trade Rondo (remember my bash Rondo thread) but this deal doesnt make sense at all. Even if they include multiple picks and Jameer.
But if the deal was something like Vucevic, Glen D, Reddick and 3 or more picks... then I might consider.
-
err, no.
Reddick for Melo, Bass plus picks would be okay by me.
-
you mean this... I'll do it in heart beat.

give Orlando a 2nd pick also

I don't trust doc to not go right back to rondo pounding the ball as soon as he returns. As far as the topic of this thread, no comment.

Yuck, I want nothing to do with Jameer Nelson and Vucevic is definitely not enough of an addition to give up Rondo for Redick. We also give up our young project center as a throw in. Nothing personal, and I know you are just looking out for what you think the best thing is for the Celtics, but this is exactly the kind of trade that would devastate me.
As many have said before, Rondo has a lot more value to us than anyone else [apparently].
-
I'd do it, if for nothing else, to see BBallTim spontaneously combust.

I wouldn't have done it before the injury to rondo but the way the team has been playing since then this is the kind of trade that could really fortify our attempt at a title for this year
-
Rondo for Redick?
Nasty...
-
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahah
that is all
