There would be positional filler, but how good a draft pick could we get by trading Green?
A late lottery pick is what I'm thinking.
-
Maybe two or three lottery picks.
-
I am not 100% sure we could get a draft pick for him. Maybe, but it would really have to be the right team, to want to take on his contract.
-
Maybe two or three lottery picks.
After all, he is a top five SF.. ::)
-
Really don't think we'd be able to get a late lottery pick for the guy unless we were taking back bad contracts.

I think Ainge might have to give up a pick in order to rid the Celtics of that long-term contract.

I think this is actually correct.

Maybe two or three lottery picks.
That might be the longest stretch of the word "maybe" in the history of the English language.
I mean, "maybe" we can get LeBron for him, but probably not.
If any NBA team were willing to trade two to three lottery picks for Jeff Green, taking personal opinions of him as a player aside: 1) he'd have a max contract and 2) someone would've trumped our offer of Kendrick Perkins to get him in the first place.
My take is that we'd probably have to give up a 1st Round pick for another team to take his contract.
-
If Green was making 2-3 million per year, he'd be worth a first rounder to somebody (lottery protected, obviously)

I think he was joking, dude =)

In the summertime, can't you trade with no regard for matching salaries? (At least to teams with cap space)
If so, I'd say 1st round pick (late teens / early twenties). Easily. In a weak draft, maybe that plus a 2nd rounder.

I would try thinking about it this way, syfy9. Is there a lottery player from last year's draft that you wouldn't trade straight up for Jeff Green? A good number of the guys in last year's lottery are already outperforming Green, but at 1/5th the price. Your choice is kinda like this-
Jeff Green for 4 yrs at 15% of your salary cap.
OR
John Henson for 4 years at 3% of your salary cap.

I'm dead serious.

Green's appeal is very narrow. I'd say he would be useful to a contending team who needed depth on the wings, and viewed him as a good defender to have against Lebron, Carmelo etc.
Knicks
OKC
Chi
Ind
Memphis
Utah
Of those, I see Memphis and OKC as being out - Memphis because of the contract, OKC because they dumped Green once before.
I think the Pacers are probably too cheap too, and wouldn't need Green once Granger returns.
I could see Utah, the Knicks or maybe the Bulls giving up a mid to late 1st for Green, assuming they could send back a similar contract (of a non-rotation player, which is a big assumption).

You're dead wrong, then.
Jeff Green, at this point, isn't worth his contract. Maybe that changes eventually, but the blunt truth is that he wouldn't have much value to other teams right now, unless there's somebody out there who is absolutely convinced that they can turn him into a star.
Right now, the Celtics seem to be the only team with that belief.

If a team has cap space, you can trade to them any time, not just during the summer. You have more flexibility to create cap space after the July moratorium.

I can't believe how much people on this blog underrate Jeff Green. He just missed a year to have Heart Surgery. Hello? He could probably start on most teams in the league right now. I hope the Celtics do NOT trade him.

Name five teams he could start for, please. I cannot wait to see this list.

Yeah, me too. Late lotto.
Or, two later in picks in the late teens to early twenties.
