Kind of a wild Idea, but if the the Hawks are going to loose him anyway. Why not get a top Point guard in return next year. BTW, The advertisements are already giving me a headache.
-
Smith wants to play in Boston because of Rondo only, if Rondo goes, Smith will not want to be here
-
Kind of defeats the purpose.
Rondo and Smith played High School Basketball together, they would want to play with each other.
So yea...
-
How about "Let Rondo recover from his injury then see how he looks before thinking of trading him?"
I know this is celticsblog but my god. The kid does his ACL and all anyone can think of is getting rid of him?
Give it a break for a couple of weeks please.
-
Might do Pierce for Smith...

Yeah, with the way the general sentiment has turned against Rondo in just a few days, you'd think he had demanded a trade and been traded, or left in free agency.
I mean, heck, there were more people defending Ray Allen when he left than are defending Rondo now. And Rondo is still on the team.

pierce will retire so, its a pipe dream
not happening
if its last year that they where teammates in school im ok with it, but since it been a years since they are teammates
man be more realistic, i'd watch and pay if its kylie and love

Rondo is a guy you want with Smith because they run the court. They also want to play together and were team mates.

Smith wanted to play here because of Rondo. Otherwise, it doesn't make much sense.

teammates
since 6 or maybe 7 years ago?
hahaha
i'll pass
ill stick with green
at least he does no hit too many bad shots

How bout no. josh Smith is so fraudulently over rated around here....just wait until he was actually here... he'd have more detractors then rondo and green combined

This. Also I dont see how Rondo and Teague would fit together so the Hawks would just have to make another deal in order for it to work out.

Gotta agree. For those that aren't the largest Rondo fans, if you aren't crazy about Rondo, you will hate Josh Smith.

I'd rather just trade Rondo to Atlanta
How about this
Rondo, Terry, Collins for Williams, Korver, Jenkins, Petro, 2013 1st (HOU), 2014 1st (ATL)
or
Rondo, Lee, Collins for Williams, Korver, Petro, Teague

We'd still have to give him a max contract so no. Ainge reportedly in today's globe didn't value Gay as a cornerstone , no way he gives Smith a max deal.

why. Rondo is out probably a year and he won't be 100% (if ever) until the start of the 2014-15 season, which is the last year of his contract. And sure Rondo will play again, but his style of play is based on athleticism, speed, etc. so there is a very good chance Rondo will never be close to the player he is ever again, and he can't shoot so he can't morph his game well into a different type of player. Sure if you trade him, there is a risk he comes back better than ever, but at least in both of those trades, the C's are getting some real value back for him.

Too true. Josh Smith would be a terribly polarizing player here. It's such an exciting concept I kinda wish we get to see Rondo and J-Smoove together. Whether it succeeds or fails, it will be spectacular.

Plus you don't want to build around Josh Smith. If you have Rondo around maybe Smith is worth it as your second star, but just Smith? No thanks.

Because not everyone thinks the best way forward is to tank immediately by trading every good player for nothing.

Bulding around Smith is pretty much the same as building around Rondo. Having both of them may get you somewhere, but having one of them? Definitely not enough.

Adrian Peterson had his knee better in less than a year. Iman Shumpert too. Rose is about to come back in 9 months time.
A torn ACL is no longer a year recovery and another year to get back to your previous baseline. It takes about 9 months now. If Rondo gets his surgery by mid February, I would expect him back full strength by Christmas of the 2012-13 season at the very latest.
Really think you are stretching it to think Rondo isn't back to normal until 2014-15.

Bulding around Smith is pretty much the same as building around Rondo. Having both of them may get you somewhere, but having one of them? Definitely not enough.
That statement applies to pretty much everyone in the league besides LeBron.

Nope, it doesn't. Building around Irving, Aldridge, or Curry -- to name a few, and without going into obvious names such as Chris Paul or Carmelo Anthony -- is something I'd much rather prefer.

The fact that you'd prefer to build around them doesn't mean that you can win with them without a very good supporting cast.

Williams, Jenkins, and 2 picks or Williams and Teague are nothing? You and I have greatly different definitions of that word.

If you define "supporting cast" as a collection of lesser players, I see much better chance to build one around the players I mentioned rather than with Rondo or Smith.
