I wrote "is a fact: the OP is either drunk or foolish"

which isn't cussing or trolling, or any of the things that shouldn't be allowed on a public thread.

I mean, if somebody starts a thread with a title as provoking as this, he should at least expect some criticism.

is "foolish" considered a dirty word in Boston?

I'm pretty sure the rules state that you are not allowed to directly insult other posters.  Your insults have to be a lot more subtle than that.

I'm pretty sure I'm not insulting anyone!
I actually hate vulgar or rude language.
Really, is it "drunk" or "foolish" the problematic word?

This is just another way of saying that I strongly disagree with the op.

anyway, sorry if I offended someone's sensibility.

Rondo is the best player on our roster, saying that we're better off without him is just nonsense. And stating that this is a "fact"... well, that IS pretty offensive.

I'm not a moderator or anything.  I was just trying to give some advice.

Disrespecting somebody's opinion is not allowed under our rules.  Calling somebody "drunk" or "foolish" is dismissive and belittling.

Ok, thank you Roy.
But I do feel that there should be a certain degree of "flexibility" to that rule, mine was supposed to be a funny comment and no insults were involved. I mean, by the book even sarcasm should be punished if this is the case.
But I don't want to go out of topic, case closed.

I miss Rondo already and believe our struggling team really needs his exceptional talent. Now AND in the playoffs.

Thanks for understanding.  I'm glad this came up, because it gives us a chance to address a topic that springs up a lot.

A lot of comments are hard to interpret on the internet.  One person says "if you'd do that trade, you'd have to be drunk" as a joke.  Somebody else says it in a sarcastic way, while another might say it in an attacking way.

Stuff like that can lead to defensiveness, hurt feelings, and flame wars.  We try to protect people from that stuff.  Basically, if something can be read as offensive, disrespectful, or dismissive, we ask that you try to use different words.

Again, thanks.

In Juneauz defense, the mods were drunk when they wrote that rule...

Lol, just saw this thread and thought "I didn't start this, what's going on??"

Well I'm glad it helped in a way, as I said earlier I didn't mean to sound offensive. Just an innocent "inside joke" to express my disagreement with the op (the thread title was "fact: celtics are better without rondo").

But I get it, moderation is a tough topic to address, maybe I should've chosen better words ;)

Wow. You Mods take yourselves pretty seriously here. This is hysterical.

No, just enforcing Jeff's rules.  "Respect each other at all times" is the overriding rule here.

If we took ourselves too seriously, we'd shut down people who want to give feedback on the rules, rather than discussing our policies.  We recognize that CelticsBlog is stricter than most forums, and that's obviously not for everyone.  For those who do like posting here, we've found that asking people to abide by a certain code of conduct works well.
