Josh Smith, who finished three assists shy of a triple-double Friday, says he feels like he should get a max contract when he hits free agency this summer.
Smith hasn't exactly had the season anyone hoped he would in his walk year, but his tantalizing mix of skill and athleticism make him a fascinating player to watch, as evidenced by his 17 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists and two blocks Friday. As for whether deserves max money, while we're not really sure Atlanta's new front office will foot the bill, you know what they say: "It only takes one."

Why shouldn't a 27-28 year old player who's going into his 10th year without ever even being an all-star get a max contract? Sheesh.
-
Good luck to whoever is stupid enough to give him one.

Someone will definitely give it to him. Not saying they should buy he'll get one.
-
So do I. Difference is, he might get it.
-
Josh Smith has too much Antoine Walker in him to give him a max contract. Someone will do it though.

Gorman didn't sound like a fan on the telecast last night. If Gorman has an issue with a guy to me that's a red flag.
-
Maybe he said that so Atlanta will trade him. Since he would have to agree to resign with any club trading for him to make it worth their while, he has some leverage on where he would go. Smart move if he want to get out of the ATL.

Jackie has also said she'd be shocked if Doc wanted him here.

You make a great point. Gorman knows his players and the guys he picks out usually are pretty smart players with good careers that would fit our system nicely.

Not to mention that Josh Smith on the same team with Rondo would kill any pull that Doc or any coach would have with the team. It would become Rondo and Smith's team, and everyone else would hate them.

Josh Smith's representatives will meet with Danny Ferry this week to discuss the forward's future with the Atlanta Hawks, according to sources.
Smith was suspended a couple weeks ago for conduct detrimental to the team, but he has had an All-Star caliber season as the Hawks stood at 25-18 heading into Sunday's game against the New York Knicks.

I actually don't like dealing for Smith now. I feel like he would have fit in with rondo much better than the group of guards we're going to put out there. But hey who knows.
-
So did Rondo, when he signed his extension for $11 million per year. You have to start somewhere in negotiations.
-
In other news, the sky is blue.
-
Yea, we want banner 18 this year but were not getting that either.
-
He's not worth it.
-
Of course he does - why is that a surprise?
Look at the guys numbers, he is one of the top 'stat stuffers' in the NBA. Points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, strong, athletic, versatile, young, great defensive player, excellent passer.
Josh Smith is way too versatile, talented and physically gifted to get anything but a max contract.
We signed Jeff Green for $9M / season, and look what Asik abd Hibbert are earning for their teams. It's a no brainer that he'll get it.
