Title: Paul Pierce's numbers over the last 5 games (don't have to look)
Post by: j804 on January 25, 2013, 03:43:26 PM
Quote
Over his past five games, Pierce is shooting a mere 32.9 percent (24-of-73) and 15 percent beyond the 3-point arc (3-of-20). What's more, Pierce is minus-23 overall as Boston (20-22) has dropped all five games to fall two games under .500.

Ok so we know pierce can suck for 5 games in a row but has he had 5 good games in a row this year?

This is one reason why I don't understand all the Rondo blame.

I don't think that most people blame Rondo.  Usually a thread starts with "Rondo is an MVP candidate" or "Rondo is as good as Chris Paul" and then people respond that they don't think he is THAT good.

What the recent string of bad games confirms is that Rondo is not good enough to carry the team when Pierce and/or KG do not play at or near their all star level.

That is different than "blaming" Rondo.

Such a blessing he didn't make the All-Star team. He just doesn't have his legs right now.

If only we had a solid backup who would allow doc to manage PP's minutes and keep him fresher... In my dreams, wilcox comes back, sully doesn't have to play so much at the 5, green doesn't have to play so much at the 4 and doc has more flexibility to keep Paul fresh.

One would assume you rarely frequent these boards.

What the recent string of bad games confirms is that Rondo is not good enough to carry the team when Pierce and/or KG do not play at or near their all star level.

One thing you can practically guarantee is that the people who claim that Rondo's not good enough to carry a team of mainly average to sub-par players won't hesitate to blame any lack of success other top point guards have on weak supporting casts.

I'd rather see Pierce slumping now
than slumping in May.

Paul gets 6% of his shots blocked which is average for a starting sf.

nah it shows the team is still dysfunctionally designed for rondo to defer to much to old geezers and he's willing to do it with failed returns

if only we did have a solid backup to pp at the small forward position
WAIT couldn't jeff green just play paul's minutes? guess that is a question for doc

I think many people have solid and PP2.0 confused.
Jeff is solid. He's not amazing (unless he's dunking)
However, I do think Doc should give PP more blow and go with JG who can't be TONS worse.

And no. PP hasn't put together 5 good games this season lol

He looks tired to me. I think Doc needs to give Paul a game, or two, off. Let Green start, and play long minutes, for a couple of games. Then when Pierce is a bit more rested, put him back in the starting lineup. I think Doc should do the same with KG just as soon as Wilcox can play.

Paul will, hopefully, get some rest during AS weekend, too.
