He played great defense too. Nice rotations I think.

Gortat and Scola didn't burn us too bad.

Sullinger has a far higher ceiling than baby. Much smarter and more skilled around the rim.

The one thing he really needs to learn (that Baby took a while to figure out) is how to use his bulk to carve out some space to get his shot off against taller/longer players.

I watched bit of Sully at Ohio State. When he fell to us at 21, I called it that we got ourselves a massive steal. His bball iq is off the charts, especially for a rookie. More impressive to me than his numbers tonight is that he's a +24 for the night. That's amazing.

Skys the limit for this kid. He has the iq and fundamentals to be a star. Just look at the Knicks game. Playoff atmosphere, wasn't rattled at all. Tonight, he grabs an offensive board for a putback, then draws the charge on the other end directly after. He does so much right out there. Imagine him in a few years. Imagine the numbers he'd be putting up as a first option? This kids a star.

21 is our lucky draft number

Didnt I see a thread on here the other day questioning why everyone looks at Sully as untradeable? Maybe it's because in his first significant minutes of the season he hauls down 1 fewer rebound then the entire starting five combined did?

Okay, I LOVE Jared Sullinger.  Seeing him getting rebounds left and right is a sight for sore eyes.

That said, I think people need to pump the breaks calling him a star or saying he'll be a "first option" or anything like that.  I think perhaps it's been so long since we've seen a legit, talented young big man with upside that we go nuts when there's one on our team.

Sully has shown enough to make me pretty confident that he could start right now and be a very solid, productive player, and that in a few years time he might be a quality player.  I'm not sure I ever see him being an All-Star, and definitely not a top offensive option for a really good team.  But I think a reasonable ceiling for him is a player like David West or Carl Landry, only with better rebounding.

Mind you...there are people on this blog who wanted to trade Sullinger for Gortat just a few days ago, and probably still would.

I was always fairly firmly against the idea.

This game just hammered it home for me.

What, you think Gortat never had a game in which he grabbed 16 rebounds?

Been on the Sully bandwagon ever since we got him and found out how the boy can rebound at preseason .

I think by playoffs he could really come up big for this team .  Especially if he can play like he has the last 2-3 games.

No he isn't an Alstar, but a good solid rebounder , which the Celtics were absolutley despert for.  A god send  for some rebounds.

No , the long term upgrade to GOrtat is not enough to throw alway one of best young rookies in the NBA.

Sully will get betteer, Gor-Toast is what he is.. nothing special.  Sub par defense .

I think Fab Melo can equal Gortat by the end of next year and play BETTER defense and block more shots.

I'm for keeping Sully, AB and FAb.

I agree but he has some options beyond that Big Baby never did.

He has a better pump fake and last night he showed off a little floater/hook type shot of which Big Baby has never had.

Who cares if he has. Sully has more potential , younger and cheaper.
